Sealing device The present invention relates to a sealing device comprising two elements intended to be engaged one in the other and not to be able to be separated without damaging the device.
Sealing devices of this type are already known, used in particular for fixing countermarks in a non-detachable manner on the back of a garment, for example, or else for fixing a control plate on a bicycle. However, these devices which are, in general, made of metal, are of delicate and expensive construction, and their inviolability cannot be guaranteed 100%.
Other devices for sealing tines are known to be put in place using special tools, such as pliers, for example. Such devices are commonly used by the Customs Administration to guarantee the inviolability of packaging or simply for placing a distinctive mark on any object. These devices can also be used to guarantee the inviolability of special instruments or devices such as meters, for example. These devices, generally called seals, are not 100% tamper-proof either and they require the use of a special tool for their installation, which complicates this operation.
The sealing device according to the invention aims to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks. It is characterized by the fact that one of the two elements that it comprises has the general shape of a socket, while the other has the general shape of a rod intended to be engaged in the socket, one of the elements being of deformable molded material, the contact surface of the other element with the element of deformable molded material having at least one sharp part of hook-shaped section, so that the rod can be engaged in the socket in a given direction, the deformable material lending itself to its passage on the acute part,
whereas the displacement in the opposite direction of the rod cannot be done without tearing of material by the acute part on the element in deformable molded material 2.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, several embodiments of the sealing device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of the first embodiment of this device.
Figs. 2 and 3 represent the two elements making up this device.
Fig. 4 shows a second embodiment of this device.
Fig. 5 is a partial view of a third embodiment. The sealing device, shown in Figs. 1 to 3, comprises two elements 1 and 2 intended to be pledged one in the other and not to be able to be separated without damaging the device. In this first embodiment, the element 1 has the general shape of a socket having an internal constriction 3. The internal passage of this socket 1 gradually tightens from the end 4 of the socket, up to the place of tightening 3. On the other hand, tightening 3 is sudden from the other end 5 of the sleeve.
Indeed, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 3, the inside of the sleeve 1 comprises a part 6 of generally frustoconical shape, the small base 7 of which precisely forms the constriction 3. Beyond this constriction 3, the internal passage of the bush has a cylindrical part 8 The frustoconical part 6 of the passage penetrates into the cylindrical part 8 at the location of the constriction 3, so that the latter is formed by a sharp edge of section in the form of a wolf tooth.
The element 2, which is of deformable molded material, has the general shape of a headed nail 9. The socket-shaped element 1 is made of a material sufficiently rigid so that any deformation of the sharp edge forming tightening 3 is excluded. This element 2 can be either made of metal or, for example, of a molded material of greater hardness than the material forming the element 2.
The use of the device described above with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3 is done as follows When it is desired to join two pieces or the two ends 10 and 11 of a fastener, for example, one engages the element 2 in the form of a nail through the two ends 10 and 11, and then the element 2 is forced inside the frustoconical part 6 of the sleeve 1. As soon as the point of the element 2 appears at the other end of the sleeve 1, we can exert a traction on it to fully engage element 2 in element 1, so as to clamp parts 10 and 11 between element 1 and head 9 of element 2.
During the engagement of the element 2 in the socket 1, the deformable material composing the element 2 lends itself to its passage over the acute part of the constriction 3. Any movement in the opposite direction of the element 2 with respect to the element 1 cannot be done without tearing of material by the acute part 3 on the rod of the element 2 which is made of deformable molded material.
Once the element 2 is fully engaged in the element 1, the tip 12 of said element 2 can be broken so as to make it impossible for the element 2 to be released from the socket 1.
Many variants of this first embodiment could be imagined depending on the use for which the sealing device is intended. Thus, the element 2 could be constituted only by a rod whose end opposite the tip could be attached in any way to a part whose position must be made immutable with respect to another.
The constriction 3, instead of being circular in shape, could be constituted by one or more projections provided inside the sleeve 1, projections having a hook shape, for example.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the element 1 of the sealing device is also constituted by a sleeve whose internal passage is cylindrical. This sleeve is made of molded deformable material as was the element 2 according to the first embodiment. On the other hand, in this embodiment according to FIG. 4, the element 2 in the general shape of a nail with a head 9 is made of a hard material, for example metal or a molded material of greater hardness than the element 1 and has several sharp parts 13 along the length of its shank. These acute parts 13 can be formed either by teeth or by conical flanges.
It is understood without further that it is easy to engage the element 2 in the sleeve 1, the deformable material forming the sleeve 1 lending itself to the passage of the acute parts 13 of the element 2. However, any re-line of the element 2 out of the sleeve 1 is made impossible without tearing of material in the sleeve 1 by the sharp parts 13. The last embodiment shown by tiellement in FIG. 5 is of the same type as that shown in FIGS. 1 to 3. In the latter case, the element 1 is also formed by a sleeve having an internal constriction 3. An element 2 of the same type as that shown in fi-. 2 can therefore be engaged in this sleeve 1 from the frustoconical end 6 thereof.
However, to make the inviolability of the device even more effective, a split ring 14, elastically deformable, is arranged in an annular groove 15 formed inside the sleeve 1. This ring 14 is therefore intended to cooperate with the tightening. 3 to securely retain the element 2 in the socket 1 once it is engaged there.
