1.a fig.
Latéralement à la pièce 161? et en un point intermédiaire entre ses deux extrémités sont prévues cieux griffes 34 repliées par-dessus les bords opposés du ruban 15 de manière à constituer un gui dage et une retenue pour la pièce 16h;
Fixing tie-ring for handles, flexible hoses etc. The present invention relates to a tie-ring intended for fixing sleeves, flexible pipes, etc. This ring-tie-back is formed by a bent metal strip, forming a ring body, combined with a part of metal pierced with a passage through which a tightening screw passes freely and with a part of metal on the opposite side. of the first, wound on itself in a spiral so as to form a multiple nut, that is to say with several layers of metal superimposed with threaded holes in alignment:
with each other to receive the threaded portion of the clamping screw, the thicknesses of the metal tending to tighten thereon when it is clamped to exert a locking effect on the clamping screw.
By the fact that the nut has several layers of metal superimposed on. hole ta raudé, these thicknesses (the metal are susceptible to a relative play between them, so that under the force exerted by the screw. the thicknesses of metal constituting the nut tend to tighten on the screw and to , block it against any accidental loosening The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, a series (the embodiments (the object of the invention.

rig. 11 and 1.2 represent a final embodiment.
The ring-embrace of fig. 1, 2 and 3 com carries a metal strip 15, forming the ring body, made: preferably of an elastic metal, such as sheet steel, and tines to encircle the handle, the flexible pipe etc. This metal tape 15 is bent or rolled in a circular fashion to fit loosely over the handle or other member for which the ring is intended. Its end 16 is intended to apply under the opposite end of the ring body and to form a complete surround to the part to which the ring is to be applied.
The other end of the metal strip 1.5 is bent, approximately tangentially to the body of the ring to provide a screw support 17, pierced with an elongated opening 18 to freely receive the shank of a clamping screw 19, so as to let it turn freely. As shown in fi-. 1, the clamping screw 19 comprises a shoulder 20 bearing against the support 17, and a flattened head 21 facilitating the operator to take the screw with it; fingers to spin it.
The end part of the support 17 is bent angularly with respect to this support in the direction of the other side of the ring body, so as to. constitute a screen to the shield 22 extending above the clamping screw 19 and extending a little beyond the threaded end of the screw, so as to. for mer keeps and protects clothing or other items that may occasionally come into contact with the screw and be seized by it. In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the tape or body of the ring, the support 17 retaining the clamping screw and the screen which protects the screw are in one piece.
To allow the ring to tighten circumferentially the handle or the part to which it is applied and to avoid excessive tightening of the ring at a point of this part, it is fixed to the tape 15, at a point located substantially at ,). 'Opposite the support 17, a flange 23 which rests against the periphery of the tape 15, .s. over a short distance, and ends at its free end with a wound part 24 which, as will be seen more away, serves as a nut.
The length of this flange 23, from the point where it is fixed to the tape 7.5, to the wound part 24, is sufficient to allow the displacement of the wound part 24 along the screw 19 in order to tighten completely the tape and bring the wound part 24 in contact with the support. 17, It will be noted due to this method of construction, while the wound part 24 moves towards the support 17. the tape 15 is pulled longitudinally following a circular path, which ensures uniform tightening and that at no point the tape does not wear against the handle or the like with excessive pressure.
The flange 23 is fixed to the metal strip 15 by means of a perforation 25 made in the latter and in which cleats 26 stamped, or formed in any other way, on the internal face of the flange 23 and folded like re presented in fig. 1, to pinch the end of the flange 23 against the tape 15. The flange 23 is preferably made of a relatively flexible and flexible material, and its length or thickness is slightly less due to those of the body of the ring. .
Since the flange is flexible and supple, it quickly conforms to the outer surface of the bushing body when the coiled portion is pulled against the support 17, thereby preventing excessive pressure of the flange 23 against the under-portion. of the ring.
The wound part 2! I of the flange 23 is obtained by spiral winding of this metal of the flange so as to constitute several layers of superimposed metal. provided with tapped holes in which the threaded part of the screw is screwed 19. Normally the holes of the metal layers coincide, so that the screw easily penetrates into the nut, which can then be considered as a multiple nut whose elements or thicknesses of the metal are subject to relative movement with respect to one another under the action exerted by the clamping screw.
As a result, not only is the use of a locknut dispensed with, but also the clamping screw is automatically blocked against any accidental tightening once screwed.
In fig. 4 and 5 is shown a variant in which the ribbon. 15, instead of being folded outside the body of the, ring as before, is wound on itself so as to form a cylindrical spiral s.up port 17a which, due to its rolled shape, offers a series of bearing walls, providing an efficient and rigid support to the screw <clamping. ' The; turns of the support 17a are perforated as in 18a to allow the free passage of the body of the clamping screw 19. The head 21i of the clamping screw 19 of FIG. 4 carries a groove 27 to allow the application of a screwdriver or other suitable tool.
In fig. 4, the flange 23 is fixed to the tape 15 by a rivet 28 passing through the end of the flange 23 and a hole 29 drilled at the desired point in the tape 15. 1.a construction shown in figs. 4 and 5 is particularly suitable for large and heavy parts: it comprises a support 17a formed of a coiled metal part and nut 24 formed of a coiled metal part into which the clamping screw 19 is screwed.
The construction of the ring as shown in fig. 6 and 7, is significantly. the same as that of FIG. 1, except that the flange 23a is shaped otherwise. In this case, the flange 23a passes around the metal strip 15 forming the ring body in the manner of a collar, and one of its ends is folded outwardly at 30 and pierced with an opening 31 for the passage of the body. of the clamping screw 19, which passes through the support 17 as well as the nut part 24 carried by the other end of the flange. In this construction, the eyelet, the rivet or other is eliminated. fastening device for the flange, since the set screw 19 is used to hold the end 30 of the flange against the tape.
The tape 15 forming the ring body may be provided with a flange 23 surrounding the tape as in FIG. 8 and instead of a folded end 30, have a coiled portion 32 fitting in the wound support 17b of the tape 15. The winding of the support 17i> is not fully closed, but is left slightly open at the bottom. the vicinity of the tape 15, to facilitate the introduction from the side of the wound part 32 when assembling the elements of the ring.
In the construction shown in fig. 8, the coiled part 32 and the support 17U are drilled with corresponding holes. through which the body passes freely (the clamping screw 19. The advantage offered by this construction is due to the support of the clamping screw being reinforced at the same time that the flange 23 is kept in its place. be quickly disassembled.
1.a fig. 9 shows an embodiment of the ring-tie-back in which the band and the flange are made in one piece. The end 16 of the tape engages under the other end of the tape. The flange 23- is stamped or cut from the end 16 and the adjacent portion of the metal strip 1.5. It is wound at 24 on itself and behind, relative to the end ifl. This coiled part of the flange is drilled and tapped to form a nut; in this part is screwed the corresponding end of the clamping screw 19.
In fig. 10 is shown another embodiment of the object of the invention, in which the metal strip 15 is provided with a relatively long inner end portion 16a terminating in a pulling flange 23b of reduced width for use. see pass through an elongated opening 33 formed in the body of the tape 15. The draw strap 23b passes through this opening 33 and rests against the outer surface of the tape 15 so as to leave free and without interrupting the play (la, flange 23b.
The free end of the flange 23b located outside the key ring body is provided with the coiled part forming a nut 24 through which the screw is screwed (tightening 19.
To fi, -. 11 and 12 is shown a form of key # 1-Eeution the key object of the invention allowing rapid placement of the ring on a handle or a pipe, when conditions do not allow the ring to slide over the end of the pipe or the handle, but require the ring to be fitted laterally on this handle or on this pipe. In this embodiment, the metal strip 15 is provided at one end with a support 17a to.
through which passes freely the key rod 1a, wrench tightening screw 19, and at its opposite end a parlie-nut 24 which, in the present example, is formed by winding the end of the tape 1.5 on itself. An arched piece 16b fits exactly against the inner surface of the tape 15.
Sideways to room 161? and at an intermediate point between its two ends are provided with claws 34 folded over the opposite edges of the tape 15 so as to constitute a guide and a retainer for the part 16h;
the latter is arranged to be able to slide Ion'ituclinalement along the strip 15, key way to block the opening 35 of the ring when the latter has been placed on the handle or the pipe, as shown in fig. i1, and to allow key removal la. part 16U (this opening in order to leave free the passage between the support 17a and the nut part 24, to a handle or to a ttit7au, as shown in fig. 12.
t; ri will notice. that in all the embodiments described above, the nut part is. formed by spiral winding of metal constituting layers oti superimposed metal layers. with tapped holes for receiving the threaded part of the screw, not requiring the use of nuts or other assembly elements, while providing a compact construction.
In addition, in each of these forms of execution, the pallie-nut is carried by a pai4ic; pulling which is soft or flexible, so as to fit contiguously against the periphery of the handle or the pipe, and thus transform recti lines key movements of the nut part into a conference effort around the handle or the tuyao.
The tie-backs described above are arranged so that the handle or the pipe cannot be pinched or pulled; the maximum wrench tightening is: obtained for a minimum of expenditure wrench force on the screw (the tightening. The rings are made up of relatively few key parts, of construction and (easy disassembly., light, robust and durable: taken as a whole, they are: elegant in appearance and relatively small in size.
