<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a sealing device comprising two elements intended to be engaged one in the other and not to be able to be separated without damaging the device.
Sealing devices of this type are already known, used in particular for fixing countermarks in a non-detachable manner to the back of a garment, for example, or else for fixing a control plate on a bicycle. However, these devices, which are generally made of metal, are of delicate and expensive construction, and their tamper-proofness cannot be guaranteed 100%.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Other sealing devices are known which are intended to be placed using special tools, such as pliers, for example. Such devices are commonly used by the Customs Administration to guarantee the inviolability of packaging or simply for placing a distinctive mark on any object.
These devices can also be used to ensure the interoperability of special instruments or devices such as meters, for example. These devices, generally referred to as "seals", are also not 100% tamper-proof and require the use of a special tool for their installation, which complicates this operation.
The sealing device according to the invention aims to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks. It is characterized by the fact that one of the two elements that it comprises has the general shape of a sleeve, while the other has the general shape of a rod intended to be engaged in the sleeve, one of the elements being in deformable molded material, the contact surface of the other element with the element of deformable molded material having at least one sharp part of hook-shaped section, so that the rod can be engaged in the sleeve in a given direction, the deformable material "lending itself" to its passage over the acute part, whereas the displacement in the opposite direction of the rod cannot be done without tearing of material by the acute part on the element of deformable molded material.
Apart from this main provision, the invention also consists of certain other provisions which will be discussed more expressly below, in particular in them.

following:
Preferably, the sleeve-shaped element presents a gradual internal tightening from one end of the sleeve, but abruptly from its other end, the rod being of deformable molded material of greater section than the constricted internal section. of the bush, so that the rod can be engaged in the bush on the progressive side of the latter, the material which forms it "lending" to the passage of the tightening while the displacement in the opposite direction of the rod cannot be done without tearing of material on it.
The element of deformable molded material may have the general shape of a nail.
Preferably, the interior of the bush on the progressing side is generally truncated in shape, the small base of the truncated cone forming said constriction, the internal passage of the bush beyond the constriction being cylindrical, the frustoconical part of the cone. passage penetrating into the cylindrical part at the location of the constriction, so that the latter is formed by a sharp edge of section in the form of a wolf tooth.
An annular groove may be formed inside the sleeve to receive a split ring, elastically deformable, this ring being intended to cooperate with said tightening to retain the rod in the sleeve.
The bush may be of a deformable molded material, the pointed portion being formed on the shank so that the engagement of the shank in the bush can be in one direction, the material forming the bush being "suitable" for use. passage

of the acute part whereas the displacement in the opposite direction cannot be done without tearing of material in the socket.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, several embodiments of the sealing device according to the invention.
FIG 1 is a sectional view of the first embodiment of this device.
Figs. 2 and 3 represent the two elements making up this device.
Fig. 4 shows a second embodiment of this device.
Fig. 5 is a partial view of a third embodiment.
The sealing device, shown in Figs. 1 to 3, comprises two elements 1 and 2 intended to be engaged one in the other and not to be able to be separated without damaging the device. In this first embodiment, the element 1 has the general shape of a bush presenting an internal constriction 3 The internal passage of this bush 1 gradually tightens from the end 4 of the bush, up to at the location of the tightening 3. On the other hand, the tightening 3 is sudden from the other end of the socket. Indeed, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 3, the inside of the sleeve 1 comprises a part 6 of generally frustoconical shape, the small base 7 of which precisely forms the constriction 3.
Beyond this constriction 3, the internal passage of the sleeve has a cylindrical part 8. The frustoconical part 6 of the passage penetrates into the cylindrical part 8 at the location of the.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
constriction 3, so that it is formed by a sharp edge of section in the shape of a wolf tooth.
The element 2 which is made of a deformable molded material, has the general shape of a nail with a head 2.
The sleeve-shaped element 1 is made of a material sufficiently rigid so that any deformation of the sharp edge forming the constriction 3 is excluded. This element ¯2 can be either in metal, or, for example, in a molded material of greater hardness than the material forming element 2
The use of the device described above with regard to figs 1 to 3 is carried out as follows: when it is desired to join two-pieces or the two ends 10 and 11 of a fastener, for example, the nail-shaped element 2 is engaged through the two ends 10 and
11, and then 1 element 2 is forced inside the frustoconical part 6 of the sleeve 1.
As soon as the point of the element 2 appears at the other end of the sleeve 1, it is possible to exert a traction on it to engage the element 2 fully in the element '1, so as to pinch the parts. 10 and 11 between the element 1 and the head 9 of the element 2. During the engagement of the element 2 in the socket 1, the deformable material component 1 element 2 "lends itself" to its passage over the acute part of the constriction 3. Any movement in the opposite direction of 1 element 2 with respect to element 1 cannot be done without tearing of material by the acute part 3 on the rod of element 2 which is in deformable molded material.
Once element 2 is fully engaged in the element
1, the tip 12 of said element 2 can be wooded so
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
to make it impossible for element 2 to be released from socket 1.
Many variants of this first embodiment could. be imagined according to the use for which the sealing device is intended. Thus, the element 2 could be constituted only by a rod whose end opposite the point could be attached in any way to a part whose position must be made immutable with respect to another.
The constriction 3, instead of being circular in shape, could be constituted by one or more protrusions provided inside the sleeve 1 protrusions having a hook shape, for example.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the element 1 of the sealing device is also constituted by a sleeve whose internal passage is cylindrical.
This bush is made of a deformable molded material as was the element 2 according to the first embodiment. On the other hand, in this embodiment according to FIG. 4, the element 2, in the general shape of a headed nail, is made of a hard material, for example metal or a molded material of greater hardness than the element 1 and has several sharp parts 13 along the length of its shank.
These sharp parts 13 can be formed either by teeth or by conical flanges.
It is understood without further that it is easy to engage the element 2 in the socket 1, the deformable material forming the socket 1 "lending" itself to the passage of the sharp parts 13 of the element 2. However, any removal of the ele-
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
2 out of the socket 1 is made impossible without tearing material in the socket 1 by the sharp parts 13.
The last embodiment shown partially in FIG. 5 is of the same type as that shown in FIGS. 1 to 3. In the latter case, the element 1 is also formed by a sleeve having an internal constriction 3.
An element 2 of the same type as that shown in FIG. 2 can therefore be engaged in this sleeve 1 from the frustoconical end 6 thereof. However, to make the inviolability of the device even more effective, an elastic ring 14 is placed in an annular groove 15 formed inside the sleeve 1. This ring 14 is therefore intended to cooperate with the tightening 3. to securely retain item 2 in socket 1¯ once it is engaged.
