Waterproof winding and time-setting mechanism. The subject of the invention is a waterproof winding and time-setting mechanism, in which the winding crown, in the winding position, is resiliently supported on the watch case.
This mechanism is characterized in that the winding crown and the watch case are in contact with each other, in the winding position, by adjustment surfaces having projecting parts - and circular re-entrant parts, alternating between with each other and arranged coaxially with respect to the winding stem, so that the projecting parts of the crown mesh with the re-entrant parts of the case, and vice versa.
The appended drawing shows, partially and by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, in section, part of the watch case, the stem and the winding crown of the mechanism; fig. 2 is a section taken along the broken line II-II of FIG. 1. The middle part 3 of the watch case, respectively the cap, if the case is in two pieces, has a boss 4 which gives a step to the winding stem 5 fitted in the hole 6 of the case middle. The rod 5 is connected to the pull of the mechanism, in the particular case, a direct-effect pulling mechanism. On a square 7 of the stem is driven out the body 8 of the winding crown.
The crown body 8 rests elastically, in the winding position, on the bos sage 4, under the action of the pull-tab spring exerting a constant traction, from top to bottom, on the winding stem 5. The crown body 8 and boss 4 are in contact with each other, by fitting surfaces comprising projecting parts 9 and re-entrant parts 10, all circular, alternating with each other and arranged eoaxially by compared to the back rod 5.
These protruding parts respectively returning have a frustoconical profile (fig. 1), but they could have another profile; angular or rounded. The circular projections of the crown are adjusted in the corresponding re-entrant parts forming circular grooves, of the boss 4. and. vice versa.
The winding crown further comprises a stirrup 12 riveted at 1â, on the end of the winding stem 5. This stirrup is housed in a recess 14 of the body of the crown 8; its two lateral branches 12 'are elastically extensible and each form a claw 15 engaged in a circular groove 16 of the boss 4.
The purpose of the caliper 12 is to keep the crown and the boss 4 elastically contiguous, one with the other, by exerting, together with the pull-tab spring, a constant traction on the crown when the latter occupies the reassembly position. The adjustment surfaces, projecting and re-entrant, of the bos sage 4 and of the winding crown thus form a practically tight seal; they are smooth and polished and may be in picks of greasy material (consistent grease) or other auxiliary sealing means.
When the crown is rotated to wind the mainspring, its protruding and re-entrant adjustment surface slides over the corresponding adjustment surface of the bos sage 4, since the protruding and re-entering parts are circular and coaxial with the axis of the winding stem (fig.?), while the claws 15 rotate in the groove 16 of said. boss.
When the mechanism is engaged, for the purpose of resetting the hands, the winding crown is brought, by a tensile force, to the position shown in phantom in FIG. 1.
The claws 15, thanks to the elasticity of the branches 12 'of the caliper then emerge from the groove 16 of the boss 4; they resume their place in said groove, as soon as the crown is pushed back to its initial position.
