Machine for cutting and measuring the profile of gear teeth of a bevel wheel In Swiss patent No. 297511, a machine is described which works according to the so-called generator bearing principle, for cutting teeth with a spherical involute profile. This machine can however be adapted to the size of teeth with an octoid profile; it presents only one tool.
The object of the present invention is a machine for cutting and measuring the profile of the gear teeth of a bevel wheel, in which the blank is moved, relative to the tool, in a rolling movement made by a mechanism equivalent to the rolling of a cone, representing the blank, on a generating plane containing the generating line of the profile of a tooth face, this rolling movement being composed of two components, one representing the oscillation of the axis of the blank around an axis normal to the generating plane, and the other, the rotation of the blank around its own axis.
The machine which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that said rolling mechanism comprises two rectilinear slides each driven by a movement proportional to the first, respectively to the second component of the rolling movement of the blank, and coupled together so that the ratio of their sliding movement is a function of the angle at the apex of the cone representing the blank, two tools coming alternately in the working position and mounted on side members capable of tilting around parallel axes contained in the plane generator, thus making it possible to adjust the free angle, further characterized in that the slide, the movement of which is proportional to the oscillation of the axis of the blank,
is driven by an additional movement proportional to the necessary displacement of said axis to present an opposite side of a tooth, one of the tools then being replaced by the other in the working position.
Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the machine, seen from the side, FIG. 2 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the machine, FIG. 4 is a view, on a larger scale, of the tools, FIG. 5 is a view in the direction of arrow V in FIG. 3, partially in section and partially broken, FIG. 6 is a section along the line VI-VI of FIG. 5, fig. 7 is a view in the direction of arrow VII in FIG. 5, fig.
8 is a perspective view, from the front, of the tool holder, the tools and one of the side members having been removed, FIG. 9 is a perspective view showing a variant of the arrangement of the tools.
In fig. 1 and 2, the blank 1 has a movement relative to the tool 2 - here a grinding wheel corresponding to the movement of a cone, called the profile generator cone, on a generator plane 3, normal to that of FIG. 1. For a so-called octoid profile, the generator cone is the pitch cone and for a spherical involute profile, the base cone. The axis 4 of the blank 1 pierces the plane 3 at the apex O of the generator cone.
The rotary movement is such that the contact curve between the tool 2 and the side of the tooth (which represents the generatrix of the profile) is very close to the plane 3 for an octoid profile; it is in the plane for a spherical involute profile, this, of course, when the face of the tooth is cut. In the case of the octoid profile, this generator oscillates around an average position located in the plane 3, the plane of the tool 2 forming with the generator plane 3 an angle equal to the complement of the free angle of the tooth.
In the case of a spherical developing tooth, the plane of tool 2 is normal to the generator plane 3.
The movement of the blank 1 breaks down into two components: a rotation around its own axis 4, and an angular movement of this axis around the vertical axis OV passing through the apex O of the cone. Each component results from the sliding of one of two rectilinear slides, 5 resp. 6, mechanically connected and each of which is guided in slides arranged on an oscillating frame 105.
(These elements are described below.) The machine frame carries the bearings for the tool holder; the oscillating frame 105 and the transmission device 7 move around the axis OV, under the effect of the sliding movement of the slide 5, when its slide moves without sliding, along the periphery of a base drum 8 connected to the machine frame. This drum 8 represents the generating plane in the generating rolling mechanism. Items 1 through 8 are the mechanical equivalents of items <B> 11 </B> through 20 of the above mentioned patent.
If the generator plane is the pitch plane of an octoid gear, engaged with the blank 1, the transmission ratio of the device 7 will be modified according to the variation of the angle of the axis 4 and of the plane 3, this angle being originally provided for a spherical involute profile. The plane of the tool 2 will also be inclined on the generating plane by an angle corresponding to the complement of the free angle of the teeth.
The base drum 8 is mounted on the frame of the machine so that it can be moved in limited rotation around its own axis. This displacement movement is controlled by a sector 11 which is coupled, by a toothed transmission or by tensioned bands directed in opposite directions in known manner, with a slide 12 mounted in solid guides of the frame of the machine (not shown). actuating the base drum 8 and receiving a rectilinear back and forth movement.
The back and forth movement of the slide 12 is wedge mandated on its side by the contact of one of the two rollers 13, 14, mounted on the slide, with one of the inclined control edges of two variable tilt blocks 15 , 16 mounted on a slider 17 for controlling the advancement receiving a back and forth movement perpendicular to the slider 12.
The variable inclination blocks 15, 16 are set in a position making an acute angle with the axis of the reciprocating movement of the slider 17 and can be either fixed or adjustable. One end of the slide 17 ends in a bevel 18 whose inclined outer surface 18a is in contact with a corresponding inclined face 19a of a block 19 adjusting the thickness of the teeth. This block 19 can accommodate movement in the direction of its length relative to the bevel 18 of the advancement control slide 17 and can be fixed to it in an adjustable manner in any position.
The surfaces inclined in opposite directions constitute a means of adjusting the length of the slide 17 in relation to the rest of the mechanism, and consequently of imparting an elementary rotational movement of fixed amplitude to the base drum 8; these surfaces therefore effectively regulate the thickness of the teeth of the finished wheel.
A roller 20 is in contact with the opposite surface of the block 19 for adjusting the thickness of the teeth and its journal 21 can move back and forth in the same direction as the slider 17 for controlling the advance, but it is not. not movable in the lateral direction. The journal 21 is integral with a lever 22 with two arms 23, 24 of unequal length.
Each arm 23, 24 of the lever 22 carries a roller, the roller 25 of the end of the shorter arm 23 of the lever being in contact with an advancement cam 27. The cam follower 26 of the end of the lever. the longer arm 24 of the lever is in contact with a cam 28 for relieving the head or the base of the teeth.
The mechanism described above works as follows: If it is assumed that the cam 28 for relieving the head and the base of the teeth remains stationary, the rotational movement of the advance cam 27 moves the lever 22 away from it. the camshaft and this lever operates as if it oscillates around the follower roller 26 in contact with the surface of the cam 28. As a result the roller receives a movement in the direction of the rap coming from the slider 17.
This slide therefore receives a displacement movement of the same amplitude, so that the variable inclination block 15 causes the movement of the control slide 12 of the base drum over a distance whose relation to the length of the path of the slide 17 is equal to the sine of the adjustment angle of the variable inclination block 15. The base drum 8 of the generating rolling mechanism therefore receives an angular movement of small amplitude which is superposed, by the slide 5, on the overall angular movement , that is to say lateral displacement of the axis 4 of the blank of the wheel 1 (fig. 1). The latter therefore receives a movement of greater amplitude which aims to advance the flank of the tooth generated towards the tool 2.
It can therefore be seen that by coupling by a suitable transmission not shown in FIG. 1, the advancement cam 27 with the control of the generating rolling mechanism (fig. 1), it is possible to impart a forward movement of determined amplitude to the blank 1 of the wheel during its rolling movement. generator. The advancement cam 27 may be arranged to rotate with a continuous movement during the cutting of any tooth flank or receive elementary rotational movements at one or both ends of the reciprocating movement. of tool 2 along tooth 9.
Likewise, the cam 28 also causes elementary rotational movements of the base drum 8. But this cam only rotates during a portion of each generating rolling movement of the blank 1 and serves to add an additional component of movement. advancement to that which comes from the advancement cam 27, during the cutting of the head or of the base, or of these two parts of the side of the tooth.
When adjusting the described mechanism to cut the opposite side of a tooth 9, cam 27 and cam 28 must be readjusted. So that the advance of the blank begins for the new sidewall at the same point of the profile as for the other side - for example at the top of the tooth - the cam 27 must be able to remain stationary for one revolution of the rolling mechanism. Before the tool is advanced, the advancement cam must be returned to its initial position. In addition, the cam 28 must be adjusted with respect to the rolling movement and must also be able to remain stationary for one revolution. It is therefore necessary to adjust the cam control to meet these conditions.
The second condition, the adjustment of the cam 28 to the rolling movement requires that the mechanism make several idle revolutions, before the tool starts the blank.
The neutral position of the base drum 8 is determined for any given adjustment position of the block with variable inclination 15 or 16 by the neutral position of the slide 17, when the cams 27 and 28 occupy their neutral position. This neutral position is determined by the relative positions of bevel 18 and block 19. Devices make it possible to calibrate these components as a function of the thickness of the teeth.
To form teeth with longitudinal curvature (FIG. 4), the advancement control slide 17 is mounted in guides, not shown, which are themselves movable in a direction parallel to the slide 12 actuating the base drum. The lateral movement of the slider 17 can be effected without interfering with its normal operation controlling the advancement movements of the teeth or the advance of the relief of the head or the base of the teeth, by means of the roller 20, the posterior surface of the inclined block 19 passing in front of the roller 20 when the slide moves laterally.
According to fig. 1, the guides of the slider 17 are formed or arranged on a slider 29 for curvature of the teeth, the position of which is adjusted by a cam 30. This cam is coupled to a common shaft with a cam 31 for displacement of the teeth. the tool and the two cams are controlled by the generating rolling mechanism so as to cause an additional movement of the slider 12 for controlling the base drum, at the time of cutting the ends of the flank of the tooth.
A roller 32 is in contact with the cam 31 and is pinned to a crank 33, the other end of which is keyed to the shaft 34 of a drum 35. This drum is coupled by tensioned flexible bands 36 directed in the opposite direction with a slide 37 which carries the tool 2 and its control mechanism. The slider 37 comes and goes on a fixed slide 38 in a direction perpendicular to the right 3'-3 ', fig. 2. This line represents the normal direction of the reciprocating movement of tool 2 along tooth 9.
The slide 12 of the mechanism described above is assumed to be in the position of FIG. 1, in which the roller 13 is in operating contact with the variable inclination block 15. The forward movement transmitted by this device to the part 1 therefore only relates to a side of the tooth 9 (FIG. 2, 3 and 4).
If it is desired to cut the other side of tooth 9, it is necessary to advance the blank 1 with respect to the tool 2 by at least one tooth thickness, because it would not normally be suitable to replace the tool by another which would be mobile following the same path but whose cutting edge would be directed in the other direction and the amplitude of the movement of advance should then be about half of the pitch of the tooth so that the second tool can come into contact with the other side of the tooth. This forward movement is equivalent to an angular movement of displacement of the axis 4 and can be imparted by the mechanism described below.
This mechanism comprises a device by means of which the necessary forward movement is carried out, causing the movement of the appropriate amplitude of the slider 12 for controlling the base drum, thus moving the roller 13 away from the variable inclination block 15 of the base drum. slide 17 for controlling the advance with which it cooperates and bringing the second roller 14 into contact with its corresponding variable inclination block 16. It can be seen that under these conditions an exactly similar forward movement is superimposed on the generating rolling movement normal via the slider 17 for controlling the advance, as when the roller 13 was operating, but only the position of the blank 1 has changed so as to bring the other side of the tooth 9 opposite of his tool.
This mechanism therefore makes it possible to avoid having to reassemble the blank 1 in the workpiece carrier between successive cutting operations of the opposite faces of a tooth 9.
The machine shown in fig. 3-7 presents two tools 2 and 2 'to machine the two sides of the tooth. Tools 2 and 2 'alternately machine the blank and are arranged so that in the machining position they each follow the same path along tooth 9. Since the machine must be able to allow machining of teeth with an octoid profile and a spherical involute profile, the tools 2 and 2 'must be able to be placed either in planes normal to the generator plane 3; or in oblique planes on plane 3, at equal and opposite angles.
The tools are available, in fig. 4-5, in the first of these positions, in figs. 3, 6, 7, in the second. Since the axis 4 of the blank passes through the apex O of the cone, the tools 2, 2 'are adjustable around their respective axes P, Q (fig. 8), located in the generator plane 3. These axes can coincide with the generator of the profile when one or the other of the tools 2, 2 'is working. When moving from one side to the other, the tools 2 and 2 'are moved laterally as a whole with the tool holder by a distance <I> d. </I> This distance <I> d < / I> is not in itself predetermined, and depends only on the arrangement of the tools.
To cut hyperbolic gears, which have teeth tangent to a circle centered at the point O, the tools 2, 2 'must be moved by a distance equal to the radius of said circle. Since both tools are moved in the same direction, this movement can be done by moving the entire tool holder. A screw 52 controls the movement (see description of Figs. 5, 7).
The mechanism for interchanging the tools 2, 2 ', that is to say for bringing them alternately into the machining position, is combined with the mechanism for interchanging the rollers 13, 14. The tools 2, 2' (fig. 3 , 7) are controlled by a hydraulic servomotor mechanism. Thus, only the tool desired for machining a specific flank is in the working position. The tools 2, 2 'are housed in bearings 39, 39' (fig. 4) carried by crossbars 40, 40 ', movable lengthwise with respect to the tooth 9 to be cut, on horizontal slides 41, 41' arranged on slides 42, 42 '. The movement of the tools is controlled by motors 56, 56 '(FIG. 5) mounted on the slides 41, 41' and coupled to the crosspieces 40, 40 'by means of racks (not shown).
The slides 42, 42 'are driven on slides 43, 43' formed on adjustment blocks 44, 44 '. These blocks 44, 44 'slide in slideways 45, 45' arched in a dovetail, arranged in the side wall of the side members 46, 46 '.
The slides 42, 42 'are driven in a reciprocating movement by hydraulic servomotors 47, 47', actuated from a distributor 48 of a twin-cylinder engine group 49 (fig. 5, 7). . The whole is controlled by the slide 12; when the latter moves so that one of the rollers, for example 13, is no longer in contact with its inclined block 15, while the other, 14, is in contact with the block 16, the first piston of the group 49 runs, and drives oil into distributor 48 from where it actuates the servomotors 47, 47 '. The latter are thus controlled so as to bring the corresponding tool into the working position.
The side members 46, 46 'are mounted on journals 54, 54' (fig. 4, 5, 8), allowing adjustment around the axes P, Q located in the plane 3. The journals 54, 54 'are housed in double bearings 55, 55 '(fig. 8) of the tool holder 50 which, together with the slide 51 forms the slide 37 (fig. 1).
The tool holder 50 has the same width as the machine and is adjusted by means of the slide 51, to which the flexible bands 36 are attached. The relative position of the tool holder 50 and of the slide 51 is also adjustable by means of the thread 52 (fig. 5, 6) of a shaft 53 coming out of the frame, and being able to carry a hand wheel or a crank. It is thus possible to move the tools laterally with respect to the vertex O, for example when it comes to machining hyperbolic gears.
When the tools must be interchanged in order to machine the opposite flank of a tooth 9, the tools are reversed by means of the cam 31, which has two control surfaces of different radii, these radii being in a given ratio. It is graduated in relation to its control, so as to present the appropriate control surface. The roller 32 is also adjustable, and its position determines the length of the tooth.
In fig. 9 an alternative embodiment of the tool holder 50 and of the slide 51 is shown. The latter is driven indirectly by the cam 31 via a slideway 51a and a drum and belt mechanism summarily designated by 57. The movement of the tools by the distance d is caused by the relative movement of the tool holder 50 and slide 51. For this purpose, the tool holder 50 is mounted on a caliper 58, having at its ends two arms 59, 59 ', carrying hydraulic presses 60, 60', having a common piston rod 61, which is fixed between the cylinders dres to a flange 62 of the slide 51. The yoke 58 can occupy two extreme positions along the slide 51.
The flange 62 carries adjustable stops on its side faces; in fig. 9, the stop 63 'is shown, the stop 63 being hidden. The distance between one of the arms and the corresponding stop (for example between the arm 59 and the stop 63 ') is equal to d. When the tools -2, 2 'have to be interchanged, the presses 60, 60' move the caliper 58 from one extreme position to the other. During this operation, the slide 51 remains stationary. In fig. 3-7, the parts are arranged so that the tool 2 is in the working position.
The movement of the tools is determined by a pair of stops 64, 65, adjustable in a groove 66 of the caliper 58. Between these stops 64, 65 is a flange 67 integral with the tool holder 50. To machine a hyperbo lic gear one or the other of the stops 64, 65 is moved so that it is no longer at the same distance from the middle of the groove 66 as the other, the position of the stops, when they are equidistant from the middle , corresponding to the machining of bevel gears. Said stop is moved by a distance equal to the radius of the circle to which the teeth of the hyperbolic gear to be machined are tangent. The tool holder 50 is then moved by means of the threaded shaft 53 until the flange 67 abuts the displaced stop.
The machine (fig. 3, 5 to 7) has a frame 100, having the shape of a box, formed by a base 101 and rigid side walls 102 which support a bridge 103. An upper bearing 104, fig. 6, arranged in the cross member of the bridge 103 and a lower bearing surface (not shown) arranged in the base face each other and are located on the vertical axis OV, FIG. 1; between these parts is arranged an oscillating frame 105 on which the workpiece carrier 106 is mounted in an adjustable manner on a carriage 107, FIG. 7, mobile on circular arc slides 108 whose center coincides with the vertex O.
The rectilinear slide 6 is driven by a reciprocating movement in a housing 68 integral with the carriage 107. This slide is articulated on a shoe 69 (FIG. 6), which can slide in a groove 70 of a block. 71, which is itself adjustable along the slide 5. The slide of the slide 6 in the housing 68 is perpendicular to the axis 4, so that this slide always moves along an axis perpendicular to this axis 4 .
The oscillating frame 105 oscillates around the axis OV under the action of the generating rolling mechanism so as to transmit to the blank 1 its movement around the axis OV. This movement is obtained by controlling the slide 6, which for its part transmits a back and forth movement to the slide 5.
During the reciprocating movement of the slide 5, its slide rolls on the base drum 8, in a horizontal plane, and thus causes the frame 105 to oscillate around the axis OV. The slide 6 is coupled by a connecting rod 109, fig. 6, with a crank 110, integral with a bevel wheel, not shown, mounted in a housing 111 and actuated by a shaft 112. This shaft 112 is controlled by a bevel gear 113, housed in a housing 114 which is mounted on a saddle-shaped power take-off element 115 movable on a vertical slide 116 formed on one side of the oscillating frame 105. A vertical shaft 117, having a longitudinal groove for a key, is mounted in seats disposed at each end of the slide 116.
A helical screw 118, slidably keyed on shaft 117, retained in element 115, engages a wheel continuously driving gear 113. Shaft 117 is actuated by a wheel. series of shafts 119, 120, 121 coupled by bevel gear transmissions 122, 123, 124. The shaft 121 is actuated, via a transmission not shown, by an electric motor 126 which also actuates the cams 27 and 28 for advancing and relieving the heads and bases of the teeth.
The oscillating movement of the frame 105 around the axis OV is thus mechanically related to the advance movement and the relief movement of the heads and bases of the teeth which is controlled by the cams acting on the rotational movement of the drum. 8, as has been described. The transmission 123 is arranged so as to maintain a constant angular speed of the shaft 117 during the oscillating movement of the frame 105.
