Household machine for peeling vegetables and fruits Household machines for peeling vegetables and fruits with firm skin, such as potatoes, turnips, radishes, apples, oranges, etc. are known. These machines have the disadvantage of having a construction with a complicated mechanism, a delicate handling and requiring loading or adaptation of cutting tools for each type of work to be performed.
To remedy these drawbacks, the present invention relates to a household machine for peeling vegetables and fruits, characterized in that it comprises a frame out of which protrudes a finished tree in the form of a cross pin intended. to carry a vegetable or a fruit, and a shaft on which the worm of a worm gear is able to slide, said spindle and said shaft being dragged from the same drive member, the wheel of the worm gear being intended to actuate, by means of an angled axis in the form of a console, a knife-holder device having an arm oriented perpendicular to said spindle, one of the ends of said spindle arm, carrying the axis of rotation of said device, being connected to an automatic return device,
and the other end, serving as an attachment to the cutting tool, having a member capable of being adjusted with respect to the vegetable or the fruit to be peeled, and a means for driving by friction of said worm gear wheel endless, the whole being arranged so that by actuating the drive member, said spindle rotates at high speed and the knife holder device is driven by a slow rotary movement, the operator having the possibility of modifying the angular position of the knife holder device according to the vegetable or the fruit to be peeled.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the machine which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the machine according to the first embodiment. Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partially in section, of the drive mechanism of the knife holder device. Figs. 2a to 2d are detail views of component parts of the machine, FIG. 2a being a plan view of an elastic washer, FIG. 2b, a partial side view of the knife holder, FIG. 2c, a view in elevation of a fixing fork of a peeling knife, and FIG. 2d,
a side view of the fork shown in FIG. 2c.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of the machine according to the second embodiment further comprising ,. compared to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2 a device for ejecting the vegetable or fruit after peeling.
In the first embodiment shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the machine comprises a frame capable of being fixed to the edge of a table, as is the case for a large number of household appliances.
The mechanism of the machine comprises a spindle 1, made of resistant stainless metal, the part of which outside the frame of the machine presents, in section, a cross with equal and very thin branches. Spindle 1, held in bearings integral with the frame, rotates around its axis and at high speed under the action of a hand level 2, driving a toothed wheel meshing with a pinion mounted on spindle 1.
In the upper part of the frame, a shaft 16, parallel to the spindle 1 and carrying a pinion meshing with the toothed wheel driven by the crank 2, rotates inside a tubular casing 3, a part of which is external to the frame. the machine is located on the same side as the cruciform end of the spindle 1. On this outer part of the housing 3 is capable of sliding a sleeve 4, forming a support for a rotary knife holder device whose mechanism is housed at the 'inside said sup port.
The knife-holder device comprises an arm 5, at one end of which is fixed a cutting tool 6 and the other end of which is articulated around a horizontal axis 7 fixed to the end of a horizontal branch 8 d 'a bracket, in the form of a square, the vertical branch 9 of which is capable of pivoting in bearings 10, integral with the support sleeve 4. Inside this support 4, the branch 9 of the console carries a toothed wheel It meshes with a tangent screw 12, capable of smoothing over a portion 17, of square section, of the shaft 16.
Thanks to this assembly, the sliding sleeve 4 is able to be moved longitudinally on the housing 3, without the tangent screw 12 and, consequently, the knife-holder arm 5 feeling to be actuated by the crank 2. The toothed wheel 11 carries on each of the faces of its central flange a friction ring 13, applied against said face by a washer 14 (FIG. 2a), in the form of a star-shaped notched cup, said washer being held by a washer. pin 15, passing through branch 9 of the console.
A flexible blade 18, forming a spring, has one curved end, pressed against the upper bearing 10 of the support 4 and the other end, also curved in the same direction as the first, engaged in one of the notches 19 of which is provided with the end carrying the articulation of the knife-holder arm 5, said flexible blade being intended to constantly press said arm 5 against the spindle 1. This adjustable connection forms, at the same time, an automatic return articulation of the arm knife holder, making it possible to adjust the support pressure of said arm on the fruit to be peeled.
At the other end of the knife-holder arm 5 is fixed a cutting tool 6, for example a removable knife (fig. 2 and 2b), one arm 21 of which is terminated by a gouge 20, with an oblique cutting edge, for guiding. of the peel.
In the event that poorly shaped fruit has to be peeled, the end of the knife-holder arm has an axial bore in which is fixed the end of a fork 22 (fig. 2 and 2b), each of which branches is terminated by an axis 23 around which pivots a tool similar to the knife 6, in order to constantly follow the tool, thanks to its pivoting mounting, the surface unevenness of the -fruit to be peeled.
The machine in this embodiment operates as follows: By rotating the crank 2, the two pairs of graining simultaneously cause the rotation of the spindle 1, carrying the fruit to be peeled, and that of the tangent screw 12 , driving the toothed wheel 11. In this rotational movement, the horizontal branch 8 of the console pivots slowly by driving the knife-holder arm 5 around the fruit, said fruit being driven by the spindle 1 and rotating on it - even at high speed. The ratio of the rotational speeds of the spindle 1 and the knife holder arm 5 is set so that no jamming occurs in the cutting tool.
In addition, the mechanical connection between the toothed wheel 11 and the knife-holder arm 5 being effected by means of the friction rings 13, the movement of the knife-holder arm 5 is smooth and without play, said rings constituting a device. automatic limitation of the forces exerted on the toothed wheel 11, allowing the operator, at any time and even without interrupting the rotation of the crank 2, to modify the angular position of the horizontal arm 8 at will console and, consequently, that of the knife holder arm 5.
Depending on the dimensions and the nature of the fruit to be peeled, the operator can modify the position of the knife holder 5 by sliding the sleeve 4 on the tubular casing 3 and by moving the end of the leaf spring 18 engaged in the 'one of the notches 19 of the upper end of the knife holder arm 5.
It is obvious that the length of the horizontal branch 8 of the console and that of the knife-holder arm 5, as well as the arrangement of these two organs relative to the spindle 1, are determined in relation to the average size of the fruit to be peeled. , the cutting work of the cutting tool 6 being carried out under substantially identical conditions.
In a second embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the machine is portable and comprises the same members as those described in the first embodiment, arranged in a different orientation, in particular as regards the spindle 1, placed vertically relative to the base of the machine, the said base containing the two pairs of gear multipliers of speed. In addition, the machine is provided with a device for ejecting the peeled fruit.
To this end, the spindle 1 is turned at the base of its cross section of an ejector 24, capable of being moved in the direction of the arrow 25 by means of a usual device, for example a lever 26, pivoting about an axis, and lowered in the direction of arrow 27, said ejector returning to its initial position by gravity.
This last maneuver could also be carried out using a return spring.
It is obvious that the external shapes of the frame, of the casing 3 and of the sliding sleeve 4, indicated in this second embodiment, are adapted to the arrangement and the orientation of the main members of the mechanism of the machine, without harming the one of the properties of it which is to be portable. In addition, the machine could be shaped in this second embodiment so as to be able to be fixed to a table, as is the case for the machine described in the first embodiment, the latter machine also being able to be made in a portable machine.
The transmission of the rotation of the crank 2 to the spindle 1 and to the shaft 16 could be obtained in both embodiments of the machine, for example by pulleys and belt, provided that this mode of transmission ensures the desired ratio between the rotational speeds of the knife holder arm and the spindle.
One could also replace the crank 2 by an electric motor.
If necessary, one could also add to the arm of the knife holder and to the cutting tool a device (not shown) intended to collect the peels and to remove them during operation of the machine.
Finally, in both embodiments of the machine, it is obvious that the spindle 1 is capable of receiving a vegetable instead of a fruit to be peeled.
