Process for the preparation of a new diazo-amine derivative. The present invention relates to the preparation of new diazo-amine derivatives of the following general formula:
EMI0001.0005
in which the benzene ring A may be substituted by halogen atoms, alkyl or alkoxy groups R represents the residue of a diazotizable amine having a weak basic character, X represents an alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl radical containing the minus three carbon atoms, n represents 1 or 2, while Me denotes a monovalent metal or its equivalent.
In accordance with the present invention, these new diazo-amino derivatives can be obtained by starting from diazo or tetrazoic compounds derived from monoamines or diamines having a slightly accentuated basic character and by reacting them, in a non-acidic medium, with N- derivatives. substituted anthranilic acid of general formula:
EMI0001.0018
in which the benzene ring A may be substituted with halogen atoms, alkyl or alkoxy groups and where X and -Nie. have the same meanings as in formula (I) above. They can be isolated from the reaction medium, for example, by adding caustic alkali or sodium chloride or a mixture of these two products. After drying, they have very good storage stability.
Under the expression diazotizable amine having a slightly accentuated basic character which is used above, it is necessary to understand 2,5-dichlor-aniline and the diazotizable amines having a basic character as little accentuated or less accentuated than that of 2 ', 5-dichloraniline. As examples of such amines, the disazo compounds of which can be used for carrying out the present invention, mention may be made of nitranilines, nitrotolidines, nitroanisidines,
nitrocresidines, dichloranilines, aromatic bases containing sulfamido, sulfone trifluoromethyl groups, such as, for example:
methyl1-amino-2-dimethylsulfamido-4-benzene, methyll-amino-2-ethylsulfone-4-benzene, chloro-1-amino-3-trifluoromethyl-4-benzenre. The N -substituted derivatives of anthranilic acid which can be used for the preparation of these new diazomino derivatives are, for example:
N-propyl-anthranilic acid, N-isopropyl-anthranilic acid, N-butyl-anthranilic acid, N-isobutyl-anthranilic acid, Nisoamyl anthranilic acid, N-benzyl-anthranilic acid and N-eyclohexyl-anthranilic acid, as well as derivative linkers substituted on the benzene ring by halogen atoms, alkyl groups or al # coxy.
The diazo-amino derivatives thus obtained can be mixed with coupling components and thus serve to prepare azo dyes which are insoluble on the fiber; they offer the advantage of breaking up quickly by neutral spraying.
This property makes them particularly valuable for printing textile fibers, since they can be developed by simple neutral spraying without requiring the addition of volatile amines to the printing pastes. Indeed, the disadvantages due to the use of acid vaporization are well known and until now,
only a very small number of diazo-amine derivatives capable of cleavage by simple hydrolysis in an alkaline medium were known. These new diazo-amine derivatives are therefore of great technical interest.
The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a diazo-amino derivative, a process characterized in that a diazo compound derived from amino-1-methyl-2-nitro-4-benzene is condensed, in non-acidic medium, with N-butyl-anthranilic acid. In the example given below, the parts by weight and the parts by volume are themselves in the same ratio. than kilograms and liters.
Example: 15.2 parts by weight of amino-1-methyl-2-nitro-4-benzene are pasted in 30 parts by volume of hydrochloric acid at 201, Bé and 50 parts of water for a few hours. Cooled to 0 C and added 50 parts by weight of ice. Diazotized with 14 parts by volume of a sodium nitrite solution at 50 / a in valiime. We brew for an hour.
A solution of 24 parts by weight of N-butyl-anthranilic acid in 300 parts of water and the sufficient quantity of sodium carbonate to dissolve is also prepared, then another 30 parts by weight of carbonate are added. sodium. The above diazo solution is poured under liquid into the solution of the stabilizer. The absorption of the diazo compound is very rapid.
From the end of the pouring, basification is carried out with a caustic soda solution until very clear reaction on thiazol yellow paper. The resulting iazo-amine derivative is precipitated as yellow crystals by the addition of 100 parts by weight of common salt. After a few hours of stirring, it is filtered and pressed.
After drying at a moderate temperature, 37 parts by weight of dry product are obtained containing 12.8 parts by weight of molecular weight 152. The yield. is 84%.
The diazo-amine derivative obtained is in the form of yellow crystals. It is stable in the dry state and soluble in water. It can be used as a mixture with various couplers. Printing pastes, prepared with these mixtures in the usual way in the presence of a slight excess of soda, printed on cotton fabric for example and sprayed in a neutral or acid medium, make it possible to obtain a wide variety of nuances.
Red to burgundy shades are thus obtained with the arylides of the acid, B-hydroxy-naphthoic, brown shades with the arylides of the hydroxy-carbazole-carboxylic or hydroxy-diphenyleneoxide-carboxylic acids.
