Process for the production of an intermediate product. It has been found that a valuable intermediate product is obtained if a 2,4-dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-silfonic acid isopropylamide is treated with an alkaline earth hydroxide and in the resulting <U> '</ U>,
4 - Dinitro-l-oxy - benzene-6-sulfonic acid e-isopropylamide, the nitro group in the 2-position is reduced to the amino group.
The new intermediate product available in this way, 4-nitro-2-amino-1-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonic acid isopropylamide, forms a yellow-brown powder which is obtained in pure form by dissolving from aqueous sodium carbonate solution and acidifying. It is suitable for the production of dyes.
The 2,4-T) initro-1-halogen-benzene-6-sulfonic acid-isopro-pylamides used as starting materials are also new compounds that can be obtained by reacting 2,4-dinitro -1-halogen-benzene - 6 - sulfonic acid halides, such as 2,4-dinitro-l-bromo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid bromide or 2,4-pinitro-l-bromo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid chloride and, above all, 2,
4-Dinitro-1-chlorobenzene-6-sulfonic acid chloride, with isopropylamine. The 2,4-dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid halides can in turn be obtained from the corresponding 2,4-dinitro-1-halo-benzene-6-sulfonic acid halides by treatment with the for converting sulfonic acids into the corresponding acid halides gebräuchli chen means such.
B. PBrs, PC15, POCl3; Particularly good results are obtained with chlorosulfonic acid. The conversion of the 2,4-dinitro-1-halogen-benzene-6-sulfonic acid halides thus obtainable with isopropylamine is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium.
To exchange the halogen atom in the 1-position of the amides obtainable in this way for an oxy group, the alkaline earth hydroxide, z. B. barium hydroxide - but preferably calcium hydroxide, in the heat, advantageously at the boiling point of the reaction mixture is used.
The reduction of the nitro group bonded in the 2-position in the 2,4-dinitro-l-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonic acid-isopropylamide to the amino group, without simultaneous reduction of the nitro group in the 4-position, can be carried out according to an known methods, e.g.
B. with the help of alkali sulfhydrates, such as sodium sulfhydrate, or alkaline earth sulfhydrates, such as calcium or magnesium sulfhydrate.
<I> Example: </I> 305 parts of 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene-6-sulphonic acid sodium are added in small amounts to 1200 parts of chlorosidic acid with stirring at room temperature and the whole thing for four hours to 150 heated to 155. After the reaction mass has cooled, it is poured onto 3000 parts of ice and the 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene-6-sulfonic acid chloride which has precipitated is filtered off (melting point of the product recrystallized from ether 104 to 106).
The moist paste, washed neutral with ice water, is stirred with 200 parts of water and 300 parts of ice, and 135 parts of isopropylamine are added dropwise within one hour. The mixture is then stirred for a few more hours, then acidified with hydrochloric acid and filtered. The resulting filter cake of 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene-6-sulfonic acid isopropylamide is dissolved or partially dissolved.
A suspension of 185 parts of calcium hydroxide in 800 parts of water is added and the (is refluxed for four hours. After acidification with hydrochloric acid, the precipitated 2,4-dinitro-1-oxybenzene-6-sulfonic acid isopropylamide is filtered off with suction. The product is dissolved at 30 in 200 parts of water and 50 parts of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution and, after the addition of a solution of 80 parts of 1 \ Tatriunsulfhydrat in 100 parts of water, stirred for one hour, the temperature rising to 60 takes place.
After acidification with hydrochloric acid, the 4 -N itro-2-amino-1-oxy-benzene-6-sulfonic acid isopropylamine obtained is filtered off.
