Process for manufacturing a bag containing a product in the divided state, machine for carrying out the process and bag obtained by this process. The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a prismatic sachet with a square cross-section containing a product in the divided, granulated or powdered state.
This process is characterized by the fact that a rectangular blank sheet is cut from a thin strip for each bag, this sheet is folded at right angles along two parallel lines, so as to obtain a blank bag having a first longitudinal wall connected to a second and a third parallel walls and part of which constitutes the second and third faces of.
the prismatic blank, said third wall being folded at 90 against the second to form the fourth face of the prism, the remaining parts of said second and third walls 1 are applied against each other and then subjected to a common folding 180 to prepare a rib for firming and longitudinal reinforcement which is then folded over the fourth longitudinal race of the prism around an edge thereof, the lower ends of two parallel faces of the blank prism bag are brought together and pushes them inwards in order to create a dihedral shaped bottom,
the bag is filled and closed by pinching and embossing the upper parts of two opposite parallel walls.
The invention also relates to a machine for implementing this method. This machine is characterized by the fact that it comprises a device for cutting a thin strip to form unit sheets, a rotating drum having pairs of radial parallel plates alternating with meshing notches, the operating mechanism primary cooperating with said notches to impart to said drum an intermittent rotational movement over a path equal to the constant angular deviation of the successive pairs of plates, and finally one set of sheet folding apparatus,
for filling and closing the bags, placed around the drum facing the stop positions of the plates, each pair of plates containing a matrix for folding the side walls of the bags, said plates serving as guides - to a support provided with a shaping mandrel movable relative to the die, the folding devices comprising members able to cooperate at least with each mandrel to effect the folding of the side walls and that of the bottom of the bag.
This machine may also include a device for perforating the strip, interposed between a supply roll and the cutting device, which makes it possible to manufacture perforated bags which, filled with tea leaves, for example, are intended for be immersed in boiling water.
The invention finally comprises the bag obtained by the method defined above, whatever the means used for its implementation. The accompanying drawing illustrates the process and represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine for carrying out the process.

Fig. 33 shows, in perspective, a finished bag.
The main part of the machine is a rotating drum 1, the vertical shaft of which is guided in a thrust bearing, not shown, which is carried by a frame 2.
This drum is driven by an intermittent rotational movement and carries several pairs of parallel plates, substantially. radial 3, equidistant, which alternate with engagement notches 4.
Each of these pairs of platens is successively fed past the following apparatuses which are distributed around a part of the periphery of the drum: a first apparatus 5 for transferring the sheets and folding the side walls of the bag; a second folding device 6 for. making a longitudinal reinforcement rib; two apparatus -de making the bottom of the bag, designated by the general reference signs 7 and 8; a bag filling device 9, and a closing device for the filled bags, designated by the general reference sign 10.
Control of rotational movement. of the drum 1 is provided by an electric motor 11 driving, by a tangent screw not visible, a vertical shaft 12, of which. the upper part is provided with a double cam clutch-disengagement 13 by which a control pinion 14 (fig. 2) receives movement. intermittent rotation always in the same direction. This pinion 14 meshes with a pinion 15, the axis of which is integral with a crank arm 16 carrying a roller 17.
The profile of the cams of the clutch-disengagement 13 is determined so that at each revolution of the shaft 12 with continuous rotary motion, the pin 14. mounted on this shaft, is only driven for half a turn. , the second half-heavy of the shaft 12 corresponding to a stopping time of the pinion 14. The gear ratio of the pinions 14 and 15 is determined in such a way that for each half-turn of the pin gnon 14, the pinion 15 , driving roller 17, makes exactly one revolution.
The roller 17, driven by the arm 16, starts from the position 17 '(FIG. 2), travels a full circumference and comes back, stopping for a certain time in this position 17'. The roller 17 has a diameter equal to the width of a notch 4. Slitting its direction in the direction of the arrow .F1, this roller 17 drives the drum 1 in rotation at an angle corresponding to the angular difference between the notches 4 The shaft 12 carries a cam, not shown, ensuring the intermittent and alternating control of a rod 18 connected to a shoe 19, which acts on a brake drum 20 mounted under the main drum 1.
This braking mechanism comes into action towards the end of each intermittent stroke of the drum 1 to gradually cancel the live force of the latter.
An oscillating arm 22 mounted on an axis 23 and controlled from a cam of the shaft 12, carries at its end remote from this axis 23, a stopper 24, which is brought into the position shown in FIG. fig. 2 at the end of each intermittent travel of drum 1, so as to determine exactly the stop position of the latter, in cooperation with a flank of a meshing notch 4.
The bags are made from a thin aluminum foil 25 unwound from a supply reel 26. The strip 25 passes between a punch 27 and a fixed die 28 (Fig. 2) of a perforation mechanism comprising columns. 340 whose vertical movements are controlled by a shaft. carnes 29 by means of an eccentric. The punch 27 is mounted on the posts 340 by means of nuts 351 screwed onto the threaded upper end of the posts 340.
An adjusting rod 350, able to rotate in bearings integral with the member 27, has two threaded parts each meshing with a helical toothing formed at the periphery of the nuts 351.
By rotating the rod 350 by hand, the nuts 351 are screwed or unscrewed on the posts 340 and, consequently, the punch 27. is lowered or raised. punch 27 is lowered, the useful fraction of its downward stroke, that is to say da fraction during which it co-operates with the die 28, is increased. On the contrary, this useful fraction is reduced and can even be canceled if the punch 27 is sufficiently raised.
In the latter case, the aluminum strip 25 is no longer perforated and unperforated sachets are obtained which can be used to store determined doses of a product. Manual control of the rod 350 can be carried out while the machine is running.
The shaft 29 carries another eccentric connected by a connecting rod 30 to a transmission arm 31 of an advance mechanism provided with a bearing plate 32 which is driven in a translational movement from right to left. to advance the aluminum strip 25 on a feed track 33. During its return movement to the right, with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the plate 32 is raised above the feed track 33.
A straight stop finger 34 may be applied to the strip 25 at the left end of the track 33. Referring to Figs. 13 and 14, it can be seen that this finger 34 is integral with a hub capable of rotating about an axis 35. This hub is integral with a crank arm 36 articulated on a transmission rod 37. A frame 38 can rotate around a horizontal axis 39.
This frame 38 is controlled by means of a connecting rod 40 and a level 41 from the camshaft 29 via a return 42. The rectangular periphery of the frame 38 corresponds to the rectangular sheet which is cut from the aluminum strip 25 at the start of the pivoting of this frame from the horizontal position to the vertical position.
To ensure this cutting, the edge of the frame 38 which is contiguous with the retaining finger 34 when the latter is in the lowered position, has the shape of a sharp edge 43 which can ensure the shearing of the strip 25 in cooperation with the end of the feed track 33 and the finger 34 which hand hold the aluminum strip 25 clamped together during its shearing by the movable cutting edge 43.
The frame 38 is provided at its end opposite the axis 39 with a retaining pawl 45 subjected to the action of a res out 46 and having a nose intended to clamp against an upper edge 38 'of said frame, 1m edge parallel to this edge 38', of the rectangular sheet f cut from the aluminum strip, when this frame 38 pivots in the direction of arrow F3, to prevent the slipping and falling of this sheet.
When this frame 38 reaches the vertical position shown in FIG. 13, the pawl 45 abuts against the upper edge of the drum 1, so that the spout releases the aluminum foil by oscillation of the pawl 45 around the axis 47 in a clockwise direction.
The pairs of plates 3 embedded in radial grooves of the drum 1 are made of metal and carry, towards the periphery of the drum ,. a fiber matrix 67. Each -of them has horizontal slides .de, guide 50 along which is guided a slide 51 provided with a vertical guide 52 for a support column 53 which .porte parallel - to itself a shaping mandrel 54 (fig. 3, 4 and 5).
The horizontal rate movements of the slide 51 are controlled by means of an angled lever 55 oscillating around a fixed axis 56 and the ends of which are engaged, file with a cross member 57 of the slide 51, the other with a rod transverse 58 mounted in a transmission bar 59, the reciprocating vertical movements of which are produced by slide pushers 60. The alternating vertical displacements of the support 53 and, consequently, of the mandrel 54, are controlled by pushers 61 neighbors, of the periphery of the drum and parallel to the pushers 60.
The lower end of the support 53 has a shoulder 62, likewise, the lower end of the transmission bar 59 is provided with a shoulder 63 extending radially relative to the drum 1. These shoulders 62 and 63 are intended to cooperate with the drive yokes 64, 65 respectively, with which the pushers 60 and 61 are respectively provided, with the aim of controlling downward strokes of the members 53 and 59. The slide 51 is provided with a stop ball 101, which a spring 102 pushes into one or other of the stop notches 103 provided on a flat face of the sliding support 53.
This ball 101, by engaging elastically in the notches 103, serves to fix the various vertical positions of the support 53 of the mandrel 54, against the effects of gravity.
The first apparatus placed near the drum 1, which carries out the transfer of the sheets and the folding of the side walls of the bag, comprises the frame 38 with the pawl 45 and a complementary device for retaining the bottom of the sheets, the peripheral pusher 61 and the slide pusher 60, controlled by the horizontal camshaft 29, the mandrel 54 and the die 67 located, during the stop of the drum, in a vertical plane of symmetry of the rectifier frame.
This set of members operates as follows. The mandrel 54 is assumed first of all in the position shown in FIG. 3, above the die 67. Under the action of the slider pus evening 60 and its yoke 64 in movement, ascending, in cooperation with the lever 55, the slider 51 and the mandrel 54 are pushed in the direction F45 , so that the mandrel is brought into position 54 'visible in phantom in fig. 3 and 13.
Simultaneously, the frame 38, by pivoting in the e direction F3 around the axis 39, by the control of the connecting rod 40, passes from the horizontal position of FIG. 14 to the vertical position of Eg. 13 and thus places a tangular sheet of aluminum f against the periphery of the drum, then the mandrel 54 is lowered vertically by the effect of the downward stroke of the pusher 61 and the action of the yoke 65 on the 'shoulder 62.
Towards the end, referred to as raising the frame 38 in a vertical position, the pawl 45 strikes, by its left end (fig. 13), the upper edge of the drum and, quite at the end of the raising, this pawl 45, oscillating in direction F4o, frees the upper edge of the sheet f. Then, the mandrel 54 is lowered vertically along the outer face of the sheet f, relative to the drum, a recess e being made in the frame 38, for this purpose.
As soon as this descent is completed, the pusher 60 begins to rise and the mandrel therefore performs a stroke in the centripetal direction F41 with respect to the axis of the drum; this pusher then pushes the median part of the sheet f into the matrix 67 to the bottom thereof.
Simultaneously, the frame 38 is folded down to the horizontal hori zontal, oscillating in the opposite direction to I \ s. the insertion of the mandrel 54 in the die 67 produces a folding of the sheet f along two parallel longitudinal lines 68, 69, formed on two adjacent edges of the mandrel 54. When this folding is completed, the sheet f has two lateral sides fa, f b, connected by a posterior face fc, of the bag being roughed (fig. 14).
The posterior face fc constitutes a first wall; the sides paral lèles f a-f b initiate the second and third longitudinal walls of the blank taken matic.
After that, the drum makes a partial rotation to prepare for the restart of the described cycle of operations, with a new blank sheet f.
Each die 67 carries in its lower part an extraction pawl 70 which can oscillate about an axis 72 and comprising an upper arm 71 normally engaged in a vertical housing 73. The role of this pawl 70, 71 will be described later. The second folding device 6 of the machine comprises (fig. 6 to 12) a first clamp 75 (fig. 7) mounted on a vertical oscillating shaft 76 and a second clamp 77 mounted on a second oscillating shaft 78.
This apparatus also has a fixed vertical stop angle 79, a wing 79a of which is placed substantially in the extension of a side wall of the die 67 in the stop position of the drum. The apex 79b of the re-entering right angle formed by the angle iron 79 is at a distance from the front wall 54a of the mandrel 54 which is smaller than the width of this wall 54a. The frame 81 (Fig. 8) of this folding apparatus carries a vertical shaft 82 on which is mounted a roller 83 for guiding a retaining tape 84.
This tape is wound, on the other hand, on content rollers 85, 86 and on a return roll 89 (Fig. 2). The tension rollers 85 and 86 are mounted respectively on arms 87 and 88 so lidaires of vertical shafts, these arms serving to modify the tension of winding of the tape 84 on the assembly of the rollers. The tape 84 is applied against a part of the periphery of the drum 1 extending substantially from the notch 4 adjacent to the second folding apparatus to a location beyond the closure apparatus 10 in the direction of rotation of the drum 2.
This tape is used to hold the sa chet in the die 67 during the bottom shaping, filling and closing operations.
The operation of the second folding device 6 is as follows: When the mandrel 54 and the sheet f which has undergone its first folding and has two parallel sides fa, fb arrive in front of this second device 6, the side fa of the sheet undergoes a bending initiation around the edge 54b of the mandrel towards the end of the intermittent stroke of the drum (see fig. 9).
Immediately after, the first clamp 75 oscillates in the direction F4 around the shaft 76 to apply the two sides or walls fa ,, fb of the sheet in the angle bar 79, which has the effect of effect of bending at 90 the second wall fa against the third wall fb, then of folding a double thickness of the blank sheet at a right angle in the bottom 79b of the angle bar 79 (fig, 10). By oscillation in the opposite direction of arrow F4, the first clamp 75 withdraws from the angle bar 79 and returns to occupy the neutral position visible in FIG. 8.
The second clamp 77 then comes into action; it pivots with its axis 78 until its anterior face 77a comes into contact with the longitudinal ends of the blank sheet f by bending these at an acute angle, the apex of which is theoretically situated at the bottom 79b of the stop angle 79, as seen in FIG. 11. This operation is used to prepare the final folding of the marginal parts of the sheet which is effected by a second intervention of the first clamp 75. In this last operation, the clamp 75, oscillating a second time in the direction of the arrow F4, folds completely over one another, i.e. by 180, the remaining marginal parts of the fa and fb walls of the blank sheet f.
There is thus obtained a projecting rib 300 formed of four thicknesses of the sheet constituting the blank sheet (FIG. 12). After the withdrawal of the first clamp 75, the drum 1 performs a new rotation in the direction F2, at the start of which the longitudinal reinforcing rib 300 is folded over the fourth face fd of the prismatic blank and against the anterior face. Rieiire 54a of the mandrel thanks to the action of the wing 79r, of the fixed stop angle 79. This folding is carried out around the edge 54i of the mandrel to which corresponds an edge of the prism.
The sachet in the process of being rough therefore presents all along its fourth wall fd iine longitudinal reinforcement rib 300. When the drum starts again along F2, this rib is crushed and smoothed on the wall fd by the action of the tape 84 and roller 83.
The third device: folding 7 (fig. 2), which is used to partially make the bottom of the bag, comprises two vertical oscillating control shafts 91, 92, controlled from a camshaft located inside the frame 2 of the machine. These oscillating shafts 91, 92 are guided in bearings 93, 94 of the fixed frame 95 of the apparatus (Figs. 15 and 16).
This frame 95 is provided with a slide of rectangular section 96 whose axis of symmetry is disposed in the radial plane not sant by the axis of the drum 1, which come to occupy the main axes of the mandrel 54 and of the die 67 , in the stop position of the drum opposite the device 7. This slide 96 carries a slide 97 connected by links 98 to a pair of side clamps 99 capable of oscillating in a horizontal plane a little at - below the underside of the drum 1.
These side clamps 99 can oscillate around a pivot axis. fixed 105 (fig. 15). The oscillating shaft 91 carries an arm 106 provided with a roller 107 engaged in a transverse groove 108 of the slide 97.
The transmitter arm 106 carries, opposite the roller 107, a rising rod 109 in contact, by a ball joint 110, with a large bent branch 111 of a lever -of the second kind pivoting about a vertical axis 112, the small branch 113 of this lever having an end with a rough surface 114 intended to press the upper part of the longitudinal longitudinal wall fd of the bag against the corresponding wall of the mandrel 54 to prevent this bag from slipping. A spring 115 tends to make the lever 111-113 turn in the direction of the arrow Fs around the axis 112.
The oscillating shaft 92 carries an arm 116 which is articulated by a rod of adjustable length 117 to a crank 118 wedged on a horizontal oscillating shaft 119 which carries a cam 120 visible in perspective in FIG. 17. Opposite the shafts 91 and 92 with respect to the aforementioned radial plane of symmetry, the folding apparatus comprises two complementary levers 121, 122 visible in FIGS. 16 and 17, being able to oscillate independently about an axis 123 journaling in a bearing of the frame 95 (FIG. 16). The plane of oscillation of these levers 121 and 122 is perpendicular to that of the side clamps 99.
The upper end of the lever 121 forms a swimming nozzle 124. A rod 125 transverse to said plane and integral with the lever 121 is engaged in a guide groove 126 of the cam 120 such that the oscillations of the cam 120 cause controlled oscillations of the lever 121 by the action of a spiral portion 126a of the groove 126. The lever 122 carries a transverse rod 127, one end of which is engaged in a second groove 128 of the cam 120, which makes it possible to make oscillate this lever 122 as a function of the oscillations of the cam 120. A cursor 130 can slide along a slide 131 carried by the lever 122.
This cursor 130 is provided with a roller 132 in contact with the periphery of the cam 120; it is recalled in the direction of arrow F7 by a tension spring 133 whose lower end is fixed by a screw 134 to the lever 122. The cursor 130 is provided with a folding bar 135,
while the upper end of lever 122 carries a conformation bar 136 mounted in cantilever. The slide 131 has an orientation such that the folding bar 135 is placed on the side of the shaping bar 136 when the cursor 130 rises along the arrow Fs. The operation of this folding device is as follows. The oscillating shaft 91 first oscillates along the arrow F9 (fig. 15), so that the slide 97, moving in the direction of the arrow Plc ,
causes partial tightening of the side clamps 99. These form, in the lower part of the two side walls of the bag, two symmetrical gutters f gf h (see fig. 15 ) which initiate below the V end of the mandrel 54. This operation again has the effect of bringing the lower ends of the front walls fc and fd from the bag (see fig. 18).
The mandrel 54 lifts somewhat before the end of the approach stroke of the side grippers 99, in order to delimit the vertical part of the side walls fa, f b before the bottom is shaped. At the end of the oscillation of the arm 106 in the direction F9, the. rod 109 allows lever 111-113 to oscillate a little in direction F6, by the action of spring 115. The rough end 114 of lever 111-113 then rests against the upper part of the wall of bag and prevents it from following the lifting of the mandrel 54.
The shaft 91 then oscillates in the direction Fl2 and the slide 97, thus driven in the direction of the arrow F13, causes the clamps 99 to loosen, which oscillate around the fixed axis 105. After a stopping time, the control shaft 92 oscillates in the direction of arrow I'14, which causes cam 120 to oscillate in the direction of arrow .T15. The almost rectilinear spiral parts of the grooves 126 and 128 of the cam 120, by acting on the transverse rods -125 and 127, cause the complementary viers 121 and 122 to come together.
At the start of this coming together, the shaping bar 136 comes into contact with the bottom of the front wall fd of the bag, while the spout 124 is applied to the opposite wall f c of said bag. When the travel of bringing together the complementary levers 121 and 122 is finished, it can be seen, referring to FIG. 19, that the nose 124 has started to bend the lower end of these walls f c and f d around the lower edge of the shaping bar 136.
The cam 120 continues to rotate in the direction of the arrow F15, and its ramp 138 (fig. 16) lifts the roller 132, which makes the cursor 130 move along the arrow Ps, so that the folding bar 135 comes in contact with the deviated ends of the walls fd and fc to bend them completely. around the lower edge of the shaping bar 136 (see fig. 20).
The cam 120 then oscillates in the direction of the arrow Fls, so that the cursor 130 is lowered along the slide 131., under the action of the spring 133. The bar 135 has thus moved away from the upper bar 136 and the rib 140 which constitutes the closing of the temporary bottom of the bag (see fig. 21).
-Before the shaft 92, by oscillating along the arrow F17, causes the separation of the complementary levers 121 and 122, the drum 1 starts again an intermittent rotation thanks to which the bag with its rib 140 is released laterally from the bar shaping 136, the fold of the wall fd of the bag then sliding along this bar 136. The third folding device (reference 8, FIG. 2) is intended to complete the bottom of the bag.
It comprises (see fig. 22 and 23) a fixed support column 155 having a vertical slide 142 on which are mounted an upper slide 143 carrying a hinge pin 144 of a pair of finishing pliers 145, and a slide lower 146 connected by a hinge pin 147 to an oscillating arm 148 which pivots about a horizontal axis 149. A lateral clearance is provided between the axis 147 and the slide 146. This' aras 148 is controlled by the intermediary .d A reciprocating transmission rod 150 produced by means of the camshaft 29.
The amplitude of the reciprocating vertical movements of the slide 146 can be adjusted by moving a terminal transverse finger of the rod 150 in a slot 151 formed in the arm 148. The finishing clamps 145 are connected by links 152 to a transmission shaft 153. carried by the slide 146. The slides 143 and 146 are guided along a cylindrical column 154 mounted on the support 155. The upper slide 143 has a side 143a which projects beyond the slide 142.
A threaded rod 156 fixed in the support 155 carries an adjusting nut 157 which serves to compress more or less a spring 158 against a lug 159 that has a support lever 160 mounted on a pivot 161 integral of the support 155. This lever 160 is provided with a support roller 162 applied by the action of the spring 158 against the side 143a of the slide 143. The lever 160 < / B> and its support roller 162 thus exert on the slide 143 a braking torque in the direction of the arrow Piq around the cylindrical column.
The braking is due to the eccentric pressure of the side 143b of the slide against the flat slide 142.
The operation of this apparatus is as follows. When a bag in the course of manufacture stops in the field of action of the finishing tongs 145, the control rod 150 rises by a set amount, so that the lower slide 146 exerts an upward thrust on the axis 153. Given the braking action undergone by the upper slide 143, the latter remains at first motionless and the finishing clamps 145 tighten oscillating around the fixed axis 144 By tightening, the clamps 145 crush against each other the constituent walls .de the rib 140 still protruding at the bottom of the bag.
When the clamps 145 are thus fully tightened, the control rod 150, which continues its upward stroke, therefore raises the two slides 146, 143 which have become integral by the effect of the clamping of the clamps 145. The latter then push back the slide. rib 140 towards the bottom of the V notch 362, provided at the base of the mandrel 54, which has the effect of forming a re-entering bottom 164 in the form of a dihedral on the bag 100 (fi . 24). The anterior face 145a of the clamps 145 is present, in the position visible in FIG. 24, a relative obliquity corresponding to that of the branches of the V notch 362, so that the shape of the bottom of the bag is determined with precision.
During the last phase of the upward stroke of the slides 143-146, the handle 54, which had temporarily remained immobile to cooperate in the formation of the bottom of the bag, rises in turn, followed by the grippers. 145, on a well-defined course. As a result, the entire .sachet is lifted by the desired amount so that its upper part, of rectangular section, emerges from the upper face of the drum. This is necessary in order to subsequently allow the sachet to be closed by means of members which work above this upper face of the drum.
After a stopping time which is used as will be described, it is only the mandrel which begins to rise again to exit completely from the die 67, then this mandrel is returned horizontally towards the center of the drum. It will be noted that the clamps 145, by tightening the rib 140 strongly, prevent the bag from following the mandrel 54 in the second part of its upward stroke.
When the transmission rod 150 begins to descend, the effect of the braking on the upper slide 143 is less than on the upstroke of this slide. During the stopping time of the mandrel in the position shown in fig. 24, the clamps 1.45, by loosening as a result of the downward traction exerted on the rods 152, suffer from the sides of the inverted V notch 362, a reaction with a differential component from top to bottom. This reaction promotes the descent of the upper slide 143.
The machine comprises, following the folding apparatus,, in the direction of rotation of the drum 1, an apparatus for filling sacks with product in the divided state which is. contained in a cylindrical glass tank 170à annular mount 371 carried by im support 171 (Figs. 30 and 31).
A thick round plate 172, constituting a false bottom for the tank 170, has twelve cylindrical perforations 173 equidistant, intended to come successively to be placed opposite a or fixed opening 174 formed in a base plate 186. These perforations 173 are calibrated so as to each contain the dose of product that the sachet must contain. The fixed opening 174 is centered on the same vertical axis as a filling funnel E fixed to the support 171. The thick plate 172 can rotate on itself and with respect to the base plate 186.
The perimeter of the thick plate 172 has ratchet teeth 176 against the steep side of which is applied a drive pawl 177 articulated to a transmission rod 178. An oscillating shaft 179 controlled from one of the camshafts. of the machine, carries a crank arm 180 connected by an articulation 181 to the connecting rod 178. A spring 182 maintains the connecting rod 178 in the correct relative position. to the ratchet sizing 176 and a tension spring 183 tends to hold the pawl 177 in the bottom of the recess between the teeth 176.
The annular frame 371 carries a shutter plate 175, the lower face of which is in contact with the false-bond 172 and mas that the upper edge of each of the perforations 173 when these are placed above the fixed opening 174. A pivot 185 mounted in the center of the base plate 186 on which the thick plate 172 rests, is provided at its lower end with a ring gear 187 serving as a rack. This crown 187 rests on an axial stop 188 and can rotate around the pivot 185.
The connecting rod 178 is connected by a hinge pin 189 to a bar 190 mounted rotatably on the pivot 185. This bar 190 carries a spring member 191 held elastically in engagement with the 1st rack 187.
The funnel E, fixed by its large base to the support 171, carries a lateral bearing 193 in which the axis of a vibrator can oscillate. This vibrator, which takes the form of a lever with two bent branches in orthogonal planes, is provided with a shock stud 195 for striking the lower part of the black funnel E. A spring 196 is stretched between a fixing screw 197 integral with the funnel, and a hook 198 fixed in the vicinity of the elbow of the. substantially horizontal branch 200 of the vibrator.
This branch 200 passes through perforations 201 formed in the funnel E; its free end is kept in contact with the rack 187, by the action of the tension spring 196.
The operation of this device is as follows: Control shaft 179, oscillating in the direction of the arrow. Pte, actuates the connecting rod 178 and the pawl 177, so as to rotate the thick plate 172 by an angle equal to the angular separation of the perforations 173.
One of these, full of the product contained in the reservoir 170, for example tea leaves, is brought under the closure plate 175, and stops in an emptying position, exactly opposite the circular opening. fixed 174 of the base plate 186. The tea leaves occupying the.
perforation 173 having come to the emptying position, can then fall into the funnel E and, from this, into the sa chet, the open upper end of which has come to be placed exactly below the funnel and remains there during stopping of the main drum 1. The flow of tea leaves or any other product in a divided state, granulated or powdered, which the reservoir 170 contains, is facilitated by the vibration of the funnel E caused by the 195-200 vibrator.
In fact, the ring gear 187 rotates in the direction of arrow L'35 when the control shaft 179 oscillates along I'21 during the stop of the bag. The branch 200 of the vibrator is then put into vibration by the combined action of the rack 1st 187 and the spring 196, so that the stud 195 hits the funnel E at a rapid rate.
During the subsequent angular displacement of the drum 1, the filled bag is taken to the closing device and its empty chet -another takes its place. Immediately afterwards, the control shaft 179 which, upon completion of its aforementioned oscillation following I'21, had placed the pawl 177 in engagement with a following ratchet tooth 176, performs a new oscillation in the direction arrow I'20, which has the effect of restarting the cycle of operations described by bringing another cylindrical perforation 173 opposite the fixed opening 174.
The machine described is equipped with an apparatus for closing the bags, reference 10 in FIG. 2. This device (fig. 25) comprises two vertical oscillating control shafts 205 and 206 set in motion by one of the camshafts of the machine and guided in bearings 207 and 208. The shaft 205 carries a crank arm 209 (Fig. 26) provided with a roller 210 engaged in a groove of a slide 211 movable along a slide 212 (Fig. 25).
This slide 211 is connected by connecting rods 213 to side clamps 214 oscillating horizontally above the upper surface of the drum 1. These clamps 214 are intended to form in the side walls of the bag towards their upper ends two re-entrant folds 216 ( fig. 28).
The oscillating shaft 206 controls a transmitting mechanism intended to slide in the opposite direction from one another and by equal quantities two upper slides 217 and 218 which are guided in perforations which have two vertical walls 270, 271 belonging to to the appliance frame. The oscillating shaft 206 carries a crank arm 273 provided with a button 274 engaged in a slot of a horizontal oscillating lever 220. The lever 220 also has two slots 221, 222 in each of which is engaged a cleat 223 integral with the 'one of the sliders 217, 218 (fig. 26).
The slider 217 is integral with a bent bar, the end of which is close to the drum bearing indentations 227 (fig. 29). Correspondingly, the slide 218 is integral with a bent bar carrying, at its end close to the drum, embossing indentations 228 shaped so as to be able to cooperate with the indentations 227.
This device cooperates with a device for placing and fixing a label in the upper end of the bag. This device comprises a reel 230 (fig. 25) on which is wound a cardboard ribbon 231 from which the labels will be made. This tape 231 passes over a guide roller 232 and below the latter between drive claws 234 and. 235 of the advance mechanism which is controlled by a vertical rod with reciprocating movements 236.
The upper end of this rod 236 carries a transverse axis 237 having a threaded perforation in which is screwed an adjustment rod 238 cooperating with a nut 239 mounted at the end of a rocking lever 240 whose tilting axis 241 is carried by a bearing 242 mounted on a frame 243 of the apparatus.
Due to the oblique arrangement of the roller 232 and the claws 234 and 235 with respect to the radial plane of the drum which passes through the axis of symmetry of the mandrel in the stop position for closing the bag, the lower end of the tape 231 is introduced substantially along the diagonal of the rectangular section 100 of the bag (Fig. 28). The claw 235 is part of a support lever 244, the oscillation axis 245 of which is mounted on a slide 246, mounted on a vertical slide 247. This slide 246 also carries the claw 234.
A traction spring 248, stretched between the support lever 244 and a fixed support 249, tends to move the claw 235 away from the claw 234. The support lever 244 is connected by a hinge pin 250 to the lever. tilting 240, having an elongated opening for the passage of the axis 250.
The operation of the device which has just been described is as follows. The filled bag, the rectangular section of which is designated by the reference 100, has arrived in the position visible in FIG. 27. The rod 236, while performing its upstroke, causes the lever 240 to swing in the direction of the arrow F27 around the axis 241, which has the effect of applying the claw 235 against the claw 234 by oscillation of the lever. support 244.
Following the upward stroke of the rod 236, the tilting of the lever 240 following the arrow F27 causes the descent of the slide 246 which, with the claws 234, 235, drives the tape 231 downwards, by the desired quantity. so that it enters the open end of the bag a little below the side clamps 214.
Immediately after this operation, the rod 23-6 begins to rise by tilting the lever 240 in the direction of the arrow I'28, which immediately allows the spring 248 to oscillate the support lever 244 in the opposite direction. clockwise (fig. 25), so that the claw 235 moves away from the claw 234 and thus releases the ru ban 231.
The rod 236 continuing to descend, the oscillation of the lever 240 in the direction of the arrow F28 has the effect of raising the slide 246 along the slide 2.47; the claws 234 and 235 then come to occupy an upper position from where they will be ready to re-enter the tape 231 and to lower it by the desired quantity in the open end of another bag, according to the cycle of operations which just described.
The drive shaft 205 oscillates in the direction of the arrow F22 (fig. 27), so that the side clamps 214, oscillating around the fixed axis 280, approach the radial symmetry plane SS of the die 67 and form the re-entrant folds 216 in the side walls of the sachet and at the same time exert a slight pressure on the opposite faces of the lower end of the tape 231 which has been introduced into the open part of the sachet ( fig. 28).
After that, the shaft 205 oscillates in the direction of the arrow F23 and thus causes the clamps 214 to move apart. The shaft 206 in turn oscillates in the direction of the arrow F24, so that the lever doubles effect 220, by oscillating along F37 around axis 281, moves slide 217 in the direction of arrow F25 and slide 218 in direction of arrow F26. This double movement brings the embossing impressions 227 and 228 closer to one another.
These corresponding imprints come into contact with the upper end of the front walls of the bag, incline them towards the plane of symmetry BB of the latter (see fig. 29) and finally apply them to the label 290 which comes from 'be formed by severing the tape 231. This severing is produced by an oblique cutting blade 252 fixed on the upper face of the slider neck 218 and cooperating with a straight blade 253 mounted on the other slide 217. These blades 252 and 253 actuate the tape 231 in the manner of a sliding shear.
When the bags are finished and provided with a label 290, they leave the closure device 10, being driven by the intermittent rotation of the drum 1; they are thus brought in several movements to the discharge station 260 (FIG. 2) where there is an evacuation passage 261 communicating with a receiving box 262. An elastic blade 263 fixed on a support 264 projecting above the frame. 2, has an active part oblique with respect to the radial plane of symmetry - of the plates 3 which is located opposite station 260.
This leaf spring 263 has the effect of initiating the tilting of the bags 100 as they arrive at station 260. A fixed oblique stop 265, located under the drum 1 and visible in FIGS. 3 and 5, co operates with the tail of the pawl 70 to make it oscillate in the direction of the arrow F30 around the axis 72, so that the upper arm. 71 of this pawl 70 moves the lower part of the bag 100 away from the bottom of the die 67.
The combined action of the pawl 70, 71 and the oblique leaf spring 263 completely disengages the finished bags 100 from the dies 67 and drops them into the discharge passage 261.
The completely finished bag 100 and provided with a registration label 290, is shown seen in perspective from below, in FIG. 33. Its general form is that of a prismatic building.
The longitudinal reinforcing rib 300 also extends over the oblique walls 164 constituting the bottom re-entering in the form of a dihedron. The rib 140 with which this bottom is provided along the top ridge of the dihedron contributes to its strength. We see at 216 the intruding folds formed by the side clamps 214 of the closure device. The top of the bag in the form of a wedge; 301 designates the perforations of the bag obtained by means of the punch 27 and the die 28. These perforations are designed to allow the action of hot water on the tea leaves contained in the bag.
The information on the label 290 provides information on the nature of the product contained in the sachet.
Due to its prismatic rod shape, the sachet can be used to agitate the li-guide in which it is immersed.
