Additional patent to main patent no. 287871. Process for the production of a vat dye. It has been found that a valuable vat dye is obtained by treating 6,7-dichloro-4,4'-dibenzoylamino -1,1'-dianthrimide with carbazolating agents.
The new dye forms a dark powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a dark red color and. Cotton from an orange-brown vat dyes real brown-gray tones.
The substances known for this purpose can be used as carbazolating agents, for example aluminum chloride, expediently in combination with fluxes such as nitrobenzene, tertiary bases such as. B. pyridine, sulfur dioxide, but care must be taken that under certain circumstances saponification of these acylamino groups occurs. Concentrated sulfuric acid is advantageously used as a carbazolating agent.
When working up the carbazolation mixture, it can be useful to vat the resulting product in the usual way with hydrosulfite and lye and then to precipitate it from the vat by the action of oxidants, such as atmospheric oxygen.
Example: 20 parts of 6,7-dichloro-4,4'-dibenzoylamino- l, l'-dia.nthrimide are dissolved in 200 parts of 98% sulfuric acid at 15 and for 7 to 8 hours at 30 stirred. The initially dark green solution turns dark purple at the end.
The reaction mixture is poured onto 2000 parts of ice and, at 0 to 5, a 10% sodium nitrite solution is added dropwise over the course of 6 hours while stirring. The dye is then sucked off, washed neutral and dried.
The 6,7-dichloro-4,4'-dibenzoylamino-1,1'-dianthrimide used in the first paragraph of this example can be prepared as follows: To a solution of 50 parts of 2,3-dichloro-anthraquinone in 800 parts Monohydrate who the within one hour with stirring 115 parts of nitrating acid (50%) was added dropwise. After this mixture has been stirred for two hours at 50 to 55,
is sucked off and washed neutral. The filter cake is then ground as finely as possible with a little 50% strength alcohol and, after adding 30 parts of sodium sulfite and 3000 parts of water, refluxed for 15 hours. Then it is made alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution, filtered hot, washed neutral and dried.
By recrystallizing from o-dichlorobenzene, 1-nitro-6,7-dichloroanthraquinone is obtained in almost colorless, small needles which melt at around 290 (uncorrupted).
30 parts of nitro product are ground thoroughly with water and, after 1400 parts of water and 300 parts of sodium sulfhydrate solution (30%) have been added, the mixture is stirred at 95 for one hour. The 1-amino-6,7-dichloroanthraquinone which has precipitated out as a red precipitate is filtered off with suction while hot, washed neutral and dried.
It crystallizes from anisole in red needles, which melt at about 282 to 283 (uncorrected).
The 6,7-dichloroanthraquinone-1-urethane produced from 1-amino-6,7-dichlorantlirachinone and ethyl chlorocarbonate in nitrobenzene is chlorinated in glacial acetic acid with chlorine and an acid binding agent, such as sodium acetate, and then chlorinated with sulfuric acid to form 1-amino - 4,6,7-trichloranthraquinone saponified. After benzoylation, 1-benzoylamino-4,6,7-trichloroanthraquinone is obtained.
21.5 parts of 1-benzoylamino-4,6,7-trichloroanthraehinone, 18.8 parts of 4-benzoylamino-1-aminoanthraquinone, 0.2 part of copper acetate, 6 parts of sodium carbonate and 300 parts of nitrobenzene are 6 to 7 hours stirred at 175 to 180 and 2 hours at 200 to 205. After cooling, one sucks off, washed with nitrobenzene and alcohol. The Nutsehgut is stirred with dilute hydrochloric acid at 40, filtered off with suction, washed neutral and dried. The product forms a dark blue powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a yellow-green color.
