Process for the production of a new vat dye. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new vat dye and is characterized in that 2,5-di- (1,4-diamino-2-anthraehino-iiyl) -1,3,4-oxdiazole with o- Chlorobenzoyl chloride is heated in such a way that two acyl groups enter the molecule.
The new dye is a blue solid that is insoluble in water, but soluble in sulfuric acid to form an olive-green solution. He delivers a purple colored vat.
Example: A mixture of 9 parts of 2,5-di- (1,4-di-amino-2-anthraquinonyl) -1,3,4-oxdiazole and 60 parts of nitrobenzene is stirred at 130 ° C. and slowly mixed with a mixture of 14 Parts of o-chlorobenzoyl chloride, 20 parts of nitrobenzene and 1 part of pyridine are added. The reaction is completed by stirring the mixture at 130 ° C. for about 6 hours. The mixture is cooled, whereupon the product is filtered off, washed with nitrobenzene and benzene and dried.
The product, namely 2,5-di- (1-amino-4-o-chlorobenzoyl-amino-2-anthraquinonyl) -1,3,4-oxdiazole, is a blue powder which is in conc. Sulfuric acid dissolves to form an olive-green solution. It supplies a purple sodium hydrosulphite vat from which cotton is dyed in strong, bright blue tones. The dyeings obtained in this way are exceptionally resistant. against washing, bleaching, cooking with soda and light.
The new vat dye is also. characterized by excellent coloring properties. It is insensitive to the hard water in the dye liquor and can be dyed by means of all dyeing processes commonly used for dyeing anthracinone vat dyes. In particular, it can be vat and colored at 95 C without any significant change in color or loss of color strength.
The 2,5-di- (1,4-diamino-2-anthraquinonyl) -1,3,4-ox-diazole used in this example can be prepared in such a way that 4-nitro-1-aminoanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid - lets chloride react with hydrazine to obtain the monohydrazide, the latter condenses with a further mole of the acid chloride to form N, N'-di- (4-nitro-1-amino-2-anthraquinone-2-carbonyl ) -hydrazine,
the latter ring closes with thionyl chloride in nitrobenzene and finally the nitro groups are reduced with sodium sulfide.
