Description
Process for the manufacture of phase of discs . The objects of the invention are a method for manufacturing lunar phase indicator discs, used in particular in calendar watches, and a top phase indicator disc obtained by means of this process.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the moon phase disc according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view thereof, and FIG. 2 is a diametral section. To manufacture the moon phase disc shown, one can proceed for example in the following way: A thin steel washer is stamped out, comprising a central hole, two holes for the files and a certain number of holes for them. stars; then the steel washer is quenched, a sheet of soft metal, nickel for example, is placed on the ring; a piece of said metal is cut and inlaid by a single stamping operation, in each of the holes, tops and stars; the total surface of the disc is polished and the steel washer is blued.
The moon phase disks thus obtained can be fixed by known means on a moon wheel.
For very thin watches, the teeth are cut directly on the periphery of the steel washer, this size being preferably carried out before quenching.
A second polishing can also be carried out before bluing, so as to produce a slight hollowing out of the surface of the hairs and stars. Moons and stars could have another shape, for example starry or polygonal.
It is obvious that the diameter and the thickness of the moon phase disc can vary according to the calibers. We can also represent the eyes, the nose and the mouth of the moons.
