Taraudeur.
Tapper. The present invention relates to a tapper, of the type comprising a casing in which rotate, in the extension of one another, a driving shaft and a driven shaft and which contains a device for transmitting movement of the first. on the second of these shafts, device comprising a friction member integral with one of the aforesaid shafts, movable between two working positions and intended to cooperate, in one of these positions, with a solid friction element of the 'other shaft, to then produce the direct coupling of the two shafts, and in the other of these positions, with another friction element,
driven in the opposite direction of the first from the same shaft as the latter. to then produce the drive of the driven shaft in the opposite direction of the driving shaft.
The tapper according to the invention is characterized in that each of the aforementioned friction elements is integral with a part having a flat circular toothing, of field, these two toothings facing each other and being in engagement with common spur gears. there they both rotate freely around axes carried by the aforementioned envelope and directed perpendicularly to the aforementioned shafts.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment, seen in axial section, of the tapping device which is the subject of the invention.
The tapper shown comprises a casing formed by two parts 1, 2, in the form of bells. These parts 1 and 2 are joined by means of a cylindrical ring 3, internally threaded and partially screwed onto the edge, also cylindrical, of these parts.
A driving shaft 4 rotates, through the intermediary of a ball bearing 5, in part 1 of the casing. A driven shaft 6, located in the extension of the shaft 4, rotates in part 2, as will be indicated below. The thinned end 7 of the shaft 6 is. engaged in a housing 8 of the shaft 4, which forms a bearing for it.
The shaft 6 is integral with a friction member 9, having two annular ribs 10, of trapezoidal section, intended to cooperate with friction elements 11 of corresponding shape, integral with a crown 12 fixed on the shaft. shaft 4. The friction member 9 comprises two other annular ribs 13, intended to cooperate with two friction elements 14 of corresponding shape, integral with a ring 15 rotating freely in an internal bearing surface 16 of the casing 2, by via a ball bearing 17. This ring 15 has a cylindrical central part 18 forming a bearing .at its ends at 19 and 20, for the shaft 6.
In its peripheral region, the ring 12 has a toothing 21, of planar circular shape, of field. The crown 15 also has, in its peripheral region, an identical set of teeth 22, of planar circular shape, of field, facing the toothing 21. Four spur gears 23, only two of which are visible in the drawing, are in position. each taken simultaneously with the teeth 21 and 22. These pinions rotate freely around axes 24, fixed on the ring 3. These axes are directed perpendicular to the shafts 4, 6, as seen in the drawing. The flat gears 23 are preferably made of a non-metallic material, for example a pressed fibrous material, which ensures particularly smooth and quiet operation.
A compression spring 25, arranged around the shaft 6, bears, on the one hand, on the friction member 9 and, on the other hand, on the crown 15, to constantly urge the member 9 to come into the position shown in the drawing, for which it coo father with the friction elements 11. The shaft 6 can slide in the bearings 19, 20, by an amount sufficient to bring the member 9 into engagement with the friction elements 14. A pin (not shown), fixed to one of parts 1 and 2, is intended to bear against a fixed member, so as to immobilize said parts 1 and 2 in rotation.
The operation of the tapper shown is as follows: When the components are in the position shown in the drawing, shaft 4 drags shaft 6 in the same direction and at the same speed as it, via the ring 12, friction elements 11 and friction member 9. Crown 15 is driven in the opposite direction to crown 12 by pinions 23, but this rotation of crown 15 has no effect on shaft 6 .
When the member 9 is brought into a position of cooperation with the elements 14, which takes place by a slight separation of the shafts 4 and 6, the shaft 4 drives the shaft 6 at: the same speed as it, but in the opposite direction, via the crown 12, the pinions 23, the crown 15, the friction elements 14 and the friction member 9. In fact, the contact between the friction member 9 and items 11 no longer exist. It can therefore be seen that it suffices to give a slight axial movement relative to the shaft 6 relative to the shaft 4, in the direction in which the spring 25 gives way, to cause the friction member 9 to pass from its position. shown, to its other working position just indicated.
Thus, during the work of the tap 26, the shaft 6 is driven in the same direction as the shaft 4, that is to say forward. On the other hand, when one seeks to withdraw the tap, the friction which it undergoes - and which tends to. Retaining it back is enough to cause the spring 25 to yield, which, as we have seen, produces it being pulled back.
It is obvious that, in variations, the friction member 9 could be of a different shape from that shown and that the number of elements 11, respectively 14 could: be different from two.
