Rear suspension device for motoscooter. The object of the present invention is a rear suspension device for a motor scooter.
This is distinguished by the fact that it consists of a curved arm, of circular section to which are welded two flanges, one bridging the hub of the wheel and the other receiving an axis for fixing said device to two frame rods.
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a view of the device with partial section clti right side with respect to the direction of travel.
Fig. 2 is a corresponding plan view, showing the damping device in horizontal section.
Fig. 3 is a vertical cross section of the damping device, seen from behind. As emerges from the drawing, the device comprises a curved tubular arm 1, welded to a flange 2, in which are arranged the bearing and the axis for fixing the device to the two uprights 3 of the frame of the motor scooter.
A plate 4 is welded to the flange 2, at the upper end of which is fixed nose 5, pressing on the elastic device 6, itself fixed to the plate 20 of the frame mentioned above.
Behind, the plate 4 is continued by a wing 7, the purpose of which is to rest on the elastic buffer 8 limiting the return stroke of the device.
The pad 8 is supported by the plate 9, fixed to the two posterior rods 10 and 10v'5 of the frame.
At the rear end of the arm 1 is, moreover, welded the circular flange 11, in which the eyelet 12 having an eccentric hole 13 can rotate. In the latter is placed the axis of the hub of the rear wheel, in such a way that by rotating the eyelet 12 in the flange 11, the hole 13, to which the wheel carrying the tire is attached, is moved, so that by advancing or retreating this axis and, consequently, the wheel in the chassis, it is possible to adjust the tension of the driving chain. This adjustment ensured, it is possible to block the eyelet 12 in its flange 11 (which is slotted), by tightening the bolt 14.
Due to the construction of this device with only one arm 1, it is possible to replace the tire instantly in the event of damage, the latter being fixed to the rote by means of bolts, as is the case. in automobiles.
Given that the arm 1 is of circular section, it offers particularly great resistance to torsional forces.
To the flange 2 is, on the other hand, fixed the arm 15 which, on either side of its posterior extension, carries two fittings 16. On the outside of these bands are arranged the plates 17 and 171> \ e , fixed to the left rear rod 10 of the frame.
The pressure between the gasket 16 and the plates 17 and 171> 'e can be adjusted by means of the very flexible spring 18 and the handle 19, secured to a screw screwed into the plate 17 "i1. In the extension of the arm 15, which constitutes the shock-absorbing device, is formed a slot 15a in the form of a circular segment giving free passage to the screw mentioned above during the oscillations of the arm 15.
