Ceinture.
Belt. This invention relates to a belt for enclosing the body in the hip region.
To give the abdomen an even transverse line and to firmly support the muscles of the thighs and buttocks, a corset, belt or other undergarment should be relatively tight around its entire circumference. Firm support and tight tension are provided in these underwear, from the waist to the hips, at points corresponding to the fullest width of the hips or up to farts, without hindering the person. But the necessary tension that must be kept below these points automatically reduces the person's pace when walking and also pushes the belt into the thighs when seated.
This is probably due to the fact that the circumferential length of the lower edge is less than the circumferential length of the middle part and therefore cannot stretch enough for the person to be comfortable when walking or sitting. On the other hand, if the lower circumferential length of the belt is increased, it will not provide the necessary support and will slip. also from bottom to top on the body.
We tried to reduce this tension by making double extension belts, elastic bias, all rubber belts, etc. But that did not give a satisfactory solution to the problem.
The object of the present invention is to provide a belt which, while providing the necessary tight fit and firm support, nevertheless decreases the tension along its lower edge, especially during walking and in the sitting position. .
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a view of a woman in which said embodiment of the belt is in place.
Fig. 2 is a view of the unfolded belt in the open position.
Fig. 3 is a view of the front of the belt as it is worn.
Fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3, some parts of the front element being opened to show its arrangement.
Fig. 5 is a view of the rear of the belt, showing how the posterior element can be modified without changing its function.
Fig. 6 is a side view of the belt as it appears on the body.
The belt shown is. consisting essentially of a double front part and a double rear part joined by side parts which have circumferential elasticity at least in their lower part. The anterior and posterior pieces are cut from ordinary fabric, that is to say not especially elastic. In fig. 2, the double front piece is designated by 10, the double back piece by 11 and the side pieces by 12 and 13.
These side pieces can be in one piece of elastic material, but in fig. 3 they comprise an upper part of ordinary fabric and an elastic lower part 14, so that the elasticity is limited to the lower edges. Part 14 may be of two-way or one-way stretch fabric.
The front element is formed by two identical pieces 15 and 16 which are reversed, the piece 15 covering the piece 16 (fig. 3), and which are sewn together on their edges 17, 18 and 19. On the edge 18, the two front pieces are joined with the side piece 12. The lines of the fabric of the pieces 15 and 16 are inclined to the horizontal and relative to each other, so as to intersect as shown by the arrows in FIGS. 2 and 3. The lower edges 20 and 21 are in principle parallel to the lines of the fabric, rising again up to each angle X and Y. The edge 20 covers the edge 21 (fig. 3) freely, without any connection between them. .
The rear element 11 is constituted by pieces 25 and 26 joined to the side pieces at 27 and 28 and between them at 29. The upper edges 30 and 31 parallel to the lines of the fabric of the respective pieces are inclined on the edge of the fabric. belt and relative to each other. Hooks 35, fixed on the edge 19, cooperate with eyelets 36 carried by the strip 37 to form an opening line of the belt; it can also be partially hung or be made to be threaded without opening it.
Points X and Y correspond approximately to the region of the femur joint, towards the trochanters. Leaving aside for the moment the arrangement of the posterior element, the belt can be considered as a part with two ends whose parts 15 and 16 form the ends. The rear part surrounds the body, the edges of the belt being in principle horizontal, that of the top crossing the posterior sacroiliac region and. the other, the lower one, is found below the buttocks. The belt then surrounds the body in the manner of a sling.
circumferential elasticity of which. the lower edges go up making an angle between them and crossing. at point 11% in the pubic region (fig. 7. and 3). The lower zone of the posterior parts (considered at a height roughly equal to that of the elastic parts 14), the elastic parts 14 themselves and two triangular zones of the respective front parts 15 and 16 (the bases of these triangular zones being considered along the respective seams 1.9 and 18, over a height approximately equal to.
that of the elastic parts 14 and the tops of these triangular zones being respectively the points X and Y located between the lower and upper edges of the belt) constitute a ha mac, the ends of which are precisely attached in X </ I> and Y at points located in the vicinity of the trochanters of the femurs, and in which rest the buttocks and the lower parts of the abdomen of the person who wears this belt.
Thanks to the elasticity of the parts 14, this hammock constitutes a firm support tending to raise the buttocks and the lower parts of the abdomen of the person by enclosing tightly as a whole these different parts, thus comfortably relieving the patient. pool. Doing. bring the support of the whole belt on the points of articulation of the femurs, towards the trochanters, X and the, and by making cross from this articulation one of the sides on the bottom of the other side and in In addition, a closed belt is made which acts to release the muscles in the legs when the person is walking or exercising and releases their tension when they are seated. It will also be noted that these points X, Y are located at the height where the basin has its greatest width.
The overlap of edges 20 and 21 located between points G -X and I'-Y and their mutual crossing at point IV prevent the. belt to roll up from bottom to top due to the distribution of forces and mutual overlap.
The arrangement of the posterior element 11 is also studied with a view to alleviating certain stresses and tension which occur in the sacroiliac region and to give, to a certain extent, the same result on the rear as on the before.
A variant of this posterior element 11, shown in fi-. 5, est. constituted by a single piece of fabric 45 having an inclined edge 46 and fixed at R to. seam 47. The other side piece 13 is connected to seam 48 by a strip 50 running from point 51 to point 8 of seam 48 along edge 52. The fabric lines of. part 50 are parallel to edge 52 and those of part 45 are. parallel to the edge 46.
The fi-. 3 and 4 show suspenders attached to points F and G. As shown in the drawing, parts X-F and Y-G of respective edges 18 and 19 are curved in the natural curve of the hips to the bottom of this kind of scarf. This curvature of the parts X-F and Y-G of the respective edges 18 and 19 makes in principle a right angle with the edges 20 and 21 lying between the points G-X and F-Y. The tension is thus distributed equally over these points of the belt.
Fixing the jars such at points F and G contributes in a simple way to the scarf effect, without removing the freedom of the limbs at the front of the belt.
As seen in fig. 2, the side edge 37 of one of the side pieces 13, which is in principle straight when the belt is not worn, is caused by the curvature of the edge 19 of the front piece to follow exactly the curve of the hips when the belt is in place on the person's body (fig. 3).
