La fig. 1 est une vue de côté partielle d'un torse montrant les muscles retenus par la ceinture ; la fig. 2 est une vue postérieure du torse repré senté sur la fig. 1 ; les fig. 3 et 4 sont des vues de face de deux premières formes d'exécution de la ceinture ; la fig. 5 est une vue de face d'une autre forme d'exécution ; la fig. 6 est une vue de côté de la ceinture représentée à la fig. 5, dans la position qu'elle occupe sur le corps de l'usager ;
Abdominal belt The present invention relates to an abdominal belt.
In order to give a graceful line to the abdomen, and to hold the muscles firmly. thighs and buttocks, a belt should fit relatively comfortably over the wearer as a whole. Firm support and comfortable tension can be, and is hand held, in such belts from the waist down to the hips, or substantially to the line passing through the widest part of the hips, without causing discomfort to the user, but the necessary tension which must be maintained below the hips restricts the free movement of the legs.
Swiss Patent No. 281730 relates to a waistband which provides the necessary comfortable fit and firm support, and which is fashioned with overlapping anterior panels which in effect increase the circumferential dimension of the waistband at its lower anterior edge, without releasing the support or reducing the belt's wetting qualities. The belt of this patent also provides firm support for the buttocks, and cradle-shaped support for the abdomen by comfortably supporting the pelvic organs.
The type of support provided by the belt of said patent is provided mainly by the presence of front panels with overlap having lower edges inclined from bottom to top.
The belt of the present invention is a further advancement in the art, in that it is shaped to provide a firm support for each buttock while comfortably supporting the pelvic organs in the front, and eliminating, at the same time, the discomfort around the perimeter of the lower posterior edge of the belt, discomfort which invariably occurs with conventional-made belts.
The belt according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises an anterior part and a posterior part joined together, these parts having contours of lateral edges which are concave inward, over their entire extent. , to conform to the natural line of the hips, so that the upper and lower open ends of the waistband have a smaller cross section than the cross section by a plane above the lower end of the waistband, the latter having a length, from top to bottom, which is at least equal to its width, the whole being arranged so that when worn by the user, it extends from top to bottom from the waist, its starting lower edges,
on each side, from the vicinity of the lower extremity part of the gluteus maximus, the lower edges of the posterior part being inclined from the bottom upwards from each side, to the center of the back and surrounding at least the greatest part of each buttock, so that the posterior part of the belt constitutes a support or support for the entire gluteus maximus, on each side of the user and for each buttock, the lower edges of the anterior part being inclined from bottom to top. an angle of at least 150, from each side.
from the waistband to the center of the anterior part, so that the lower edges of the anterior and posterior parts constitute a support or support, while leaving great freedom of movement for the legs.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the belt which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial side view of a torso showing the muscles held by the belt; fig. 2 is a posterior view of the torso shown in FIG. 1; figs. 3 and 4 are front views of two first embodiments of the belt; fig. 5 is a front view of another embodiment; fig. 6 is a side view of the belt shown in FIG. 5, in the position it occupies on the user's body;
figs. 7, 8, 9 and 10 show other embodiments of the belt.
Referring now to fig. 1 in which part of a human torso is shown as a whole, the muscles of the thighs and buttocks, in that region of the body, are enveloped by the belt so as to provide a tight fit with a comfortable supporting action, and without circumferential discomfort. In the torso, the gluteus maximus muscles, which are designated 10, extend from a generally central location 12, downward, on the thigh, and substantially below the hip line, upward. , across the buttocks 14, in the back.
The gluteal muscles 16 extend approximately from the waist down, down each side, along the hips where they connect with the tensor muscles 18, and the iliotibial band 20. The incumbent determined that if a belt is designed to follow the contour of these muscles, and in particular of the gluteus maximus 10, a very firm and comfortable support is obtained for the person who can wear it without discomfort. Thus, one embodiment of the belt according to the invention is shown in dotted lines in FIGS. 1 and 2, to show generally its outline in relation to the outline of these muscles.
The lower edges of the belt extend from bottom to top from a low point 22, on each side of the user, in the vicinity of the lower end of the muscles 10, upwards below the buttocks, in 24, up to a high point 26 in the center of the back, to below the buttocks. These lower edges of the belt, on the anterior side, extend from the bottom up and around the thighs, along a line 28 which ends substantially in the vicinity of the pubic region.
Figs. 3 to 10 show several embodiments of the belt, which are established to support the user in the region of the thighs and buttocks, following the dotted line in FIGS. 1 and 2. The form of execution. shown in fig. 3 comprises two anterior panels 11 and two posterior panels 13. The anterior panels are joined together along a central seam 15, and the two posterior panels are joined together along central seam 17.
The anterior and posterior panels are also joined along each side of the waistband by side seams 19 which, as can be seen, approximately follow the contour of the wearer's hip line. Note that the side seams 19 are inwardly curved in the vicinity of the lower part of the waistband, so that the opening defined at the lower end is of smaller cross section than the cross section of the waistband. waistband at the hip line.
The panels 11 and 13 are dimensioned so that, when the belt is worn by the user, the inner lateral angles 21 are disposed in the vicinity of the lower end portions 12 of the gluteus maximus 10. The lower edges 23 of the panels anterior 11 are inclined from bottom to top by an angle of at least 150, an angle slightly greater than that at which the lower edges 25 of the posterior panels 13 are inclined. These edges are traced to generally conform to the most important parts. lower part of the gluteus maximus 10, in particular in the posterior part around the buttocks.
The lower edges 23 of the front panels 11 are inclined from bottom to top up to the point of intersection 27 which, when the waistband is on the wearer, substantially corresponds to the pubic region, the edges 25 of the rear panels 13 being tilted from bottom to top to the point of intersection 29 which is slightly below the point of intersection 27, at the front of the belt.
In the belt shown in fig. 3, all panels are made of rubber or a woven elastic material, that is, a woven material in which rubber threads are incorporated. These panels can be made from a material extending in two directions, but they are preferably formed from a material which elongates in. only one direction, the elasticity of the material being manifested in the direction generally parallel to the lower edges of the panels, as indicated by the arrows. The lower edges 23, 25 are generally parallel to the weave lines of the panel material.
If desired, panels 31 of non-elastic fabric can be used on either side of the waistband, panels 31 terminating along the seams shown as dotted at 33.
The belt shown in fig. 4 is of substantially similar construction to that of the belt of FIG. 3. However, in this embodiment, the front of the belt comprises four panels, two upper panels 90 enantiomorphic and joined to each other at 92, and two lower panels 94 enantiomorphic and joined together. to the other in 96.
The panels 90 are shaped from an elastic material, and the elasticity can be exerted in a circumferential direction. However, the panels 94 have their lower edges 98 inclined from bottom to top at an angle of at least 1511, from the low point 100, on each side of the waistband, to the high point 102 at the front, In the center. These panels are preferably formed of an elastic material in which the direct elongation is in the direction indicated by the arrows, the lower edges 98 being generally parallel to the weaving lines of the material, as shown.
The upper edges 104 of the panels 94 are generally parallel to the lower edges 98 of these panels, and they meet with the upper front panels 90, as shown. The back of the belt is formed by four panels, similar to the front of the belt. The lower posterior panels are denoted by 106, and their lower edges 108 are slanted downward from the low points 100, on each side, to the high point 110, in the center of the back, at a slightly smaller angle. than that of the front edges 98.
The. panels 106 are shaped. as an elastic material, in the same way as the panels 94, so that the direct elongation of the material takes place along a line parallel to the lower edges 108.
The belt shown in Figs. 5 and 6 comprises two front panels 30 and 32 and two rear panels 34 and 36. The outer side edges of these panels are preferably fixed to each other by seams at 37 so as to define the side contours 38 which hug the user's hips.
Note that these side edges are curved inward, adjacent to the lower parts of the panels, as indicated at 40, so that the opening defined by the lower end of the belt has a smaller cross section than the section transverse of the belt, to the line of the hips. The dimensions of these panels are such that, when they are on the user, the outer lower corner parts 42 are located in the vicinity of the lower end parts 12 of the gluteus maximus 10 (see -fig. 1).
The lower edges 44 of the posterior panels 34 and 36 are inclined from bottom to top so as to follow the line 24 which generally follows the lower parts of the gluteal muscles 10, around the buttocks.
The lower edges 46 of the anterior panels 30 and 32 are also tilted upward at an angle of at least 150 from the angles 32, so that they intersect at 47 in the vicinity of the pubic region. The edges 46 terminate at the x and y points which correspond approximately to the tro chanters of the femur. Front panels 30 and 32 are overlapped together, along edges 48, and back panels 34 and 36 are overlapped together, along edges 50. It can be seen that lower edges 44 of panels 34 and 36 intersect at a point 52 which corresponds to the high point 26 which is located just below the lines of the gluteus maximus, at the center of the user's back, that is to say just below the buttocks.
In this embodiment, the overlapping parts of the panels are not united, except along their edges 48 and 50.
In the belt shown in fig. 5 and 6, all the panels are formed of rubber or of a woven elastic material, that is to say a woven material in which rubber threads are incorporated. These panels may be formed from a material extending in two directions, but they are preferably formed from a material which elongates in one direction only, the elasticity of the material being manifested in one direction. generally parallel to the lower edges of the panel, as indicated by the arrows.
Bottom edges 44 and 46 are generally parallel to the weave lines of the panel material. In. this embodiment, suspenders 54 and 56 are attached to the lower edges of these panels.
When worn, the belt shown in FIG. 5 provides, without discomfort, the necessary tension around the thighs and buttocks of the user. The lower edges 44 of the posterior panels 34 and 36 extend from bottom to top from the relatively low point in the center of each thigh, upward along a line which generally follows the gluteus maximus, from bottom up under the buttocks, up to the high point 52.
These upward sloping edges provide comfortable support for the thighs and buttocks, and because the lower edge of the waistband does not extend directly across the wearer's back, leg movement is not impeded. The inclined edges 44, at the rear, and the inclined edges 46, at the front of the belt, in fact increase the circumferential extent of the latter, at the lower end, without this being at the expense of the belt. holdback effect. This provides a certain comfort when the user is seated, and leaves him a great freedom of the legs when walking.
The belt shown in fig. 7 is generally similar to that shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, with the exception, however, that on each side of the belt is inserted a panel 58 of non-elastic fabric. The insert panel 58 is fixed to the side edges of the anterior and posterior panels of the belt, as indicated at 60 and 62. This panel 58 can be elastic or inelastic at will.
When the inserts 58 are not elastic in a circumferential direction of the waistband, the degree of elongation of the waistband as a whole is reduced. This is advantageous in some cases. However, the lower edges of the anterior and posterior panels of the belt shown in FIG. 7 are inclined from bottom to top in the same way and in the same proportion as the lower edges 44 and 46 of the belt shown in FIGS. 5 and 6.
If desired, in the belt shown in fig. 7, the anterior and posterior lap panels of the waistband may be of a non-elastic material, the weave lines being parallel to the lower edges of these panels, as previously described, and the panels 58 on either side of the waistband being formed in a material which is elastic in a circumferential direction of the belt.
Fig. 8 shows another embodiment of the belt which has two front panels 64 and 66, of similar shape, and two rear panels 68 and 70 which are shaped in a similar fashion. Panels 64 and 68 are joined to each other along their outer side sides, as shown at 72, and panels 66 and 70 are attached to each other along their outer edges, as indicated at 74. The internal edges 76 of the anterior panels 64 and 66 are joined by a piece, insert 78, and the internal edges 80 of the posterior panels 68 and 70 are joined by an insert 82.
The lower edges of the belt shown in fig. 8 are inclined upwards in the same way and in the same proportion as for the belt shown in fig. 5 and 6, so that, at the rear part of the belt, the lower edges are inclined from bottom to top from a point 84 situated very low on the thigh of the user, up to a high point 86, in the center of the back, just below the buttocks. The lower front edges of the waistband are angled bottom up from the low points 84 to the high point. 88.
In this arrangement, the panels -64, 66, 68 and 70 are preferably formed from an elastic material the weaving of which is generally parallel to the lower edges of the panels, the direct elongation of the material taking place in the general direction. parallel to the lower edges of the panel. The inserts 78 and 82 can be formed of an elastic material or not, at will, but, preferably, of a material which elongates in only one direction, the elasticity being manifested vertically.
Another embodiment of the belt is shown in FIG. 9 which shows the belt from the back. The anterior part can be made analogously to the posterior part or the anterior part of the belt can be made as shown in fig.3. The rear part of the belt shown in fig. 9 comprises two elastic bands 112 and 114 arranged overlap ment, as shown.
The lower edge 116 of the strip 112 and the lower edge 118 of the strip 114 intersect at a point 120 which, as can be seen, is slightly below the center point 122 of the lower edge front of the belt. Preferably, the lower edge 116 of the strip 112 is not attached to the lower edge 118 of the strip 114. However, the upper edges 124 and 126 of the strips 112 and 114 are attached to a top panel 128 of the belt comprising two symmetrical parts, as shown. The bands 112 and 114 are elastic in a direction parallel to the lower edges, as indicated by the arrows.
The top panel 128 may also be of a resilient material, preferably elongate in one direction, the elongation taking place in a circumferential direction, as indicated by the arrow.
The belt shown in fig. 10 is similar to that shown in FIG. 9. However, in the belt shown in FIG. 10, the two elastic bands 130 and 132 are substantially wider than the bands 112, 114. In fact, the bands 130, 132 are of sufficient width to form the entire waistband. These bands run around the front and back of the waistband as shown, and their lower edges intersect at the front of the waistband at point 134 and at point 136 on the back of the waistband. the latter.
The points 134 and 136 are arranged relative to each other in a manner analogous to the points 120 and 122 of the belt shown in FIG. 9. The elasticity of the bands 130 and 132 takes place in a direction parallel to the lower edges of these bands. At the upper end of the waistband, anterior and posterior triangular panels 138 are provided to close the triangular opening at the front and rear of the waistband. Panels 138 are sewn to the top edges of panels 130 and 132 as shown at 140 and 142.
In each of the belts described above, the lower edges are sloped from the bottom, up from a low point, on each side, to a high point, in the center of the front part and in the center of the part posterior. The low points on the side generally correspond to the location of the lower end 12 of the muscles 10 (Fig. 1), and the lower posterior edges of the waistband are sloped from bottom to top along a line. which generally follows the line of muscles 10, from bottom to top across the buttocks.
Thus, it is realized that the belts described are designed so that, on each side of the user, they extend from top to bottom to a point situated lower than on the. classic belts, i.e. they extend from top to bottom to a point below the main part of the gluteus maximus, and preferably to a place in the vicinity of the lower extremity of these muscles.
The extension of these belts down to these low points, combined with the bottom-up tilt of their lower edges, provides support or support for the muscles of the legs, thighs and buttocks, which must be maintained in order to to give the silhouette the desired profile.
However, due to the fact that the lower edges of these belts are tilted from bottom to top, to the center of the anterior part and the center of the posterior part, a supporting action is obtained in the pelvic area and thighs, which ensures a feeling of comfort, and which, at the same time, leaves a great freedom of movement to the legs.
