Description

Shoulder straps for a man-made load carrying device The shoulder straps for backpacks and other means for transporting loads on a man's back are generally straight, with or without flexible trim on their inner face. These straps exert their pressure on the body of the wearer at points which are not favorable for the support of the load, for the circulation of the blood and for the shoulder joint.

The object of the present invention is to eliminate these drawbacks; it relates to shoulder straps for transporting loads on a man's back which are characterized by the fact that each of them is formed of two parts, the part of which intended to take support on the body of the wearer offers a large transverse rigidity and has, when it is flat, a rectilinear section, followed by a section having the shape of an S, intended to embrace the shoulder of the wearer.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the straps according to the invention as well as a backpack provided with such straps.

Fig. 1 shows, developed on a plan, the parts of the straps intended to bear on the body, and FIG. 2 an elevation view of the backpack.

The straps shown are each formed of two parts 1 a: and <B> lb, </B> the part I a being fixed by one of its ends to the upper part of the bag 2, preferably with a bag provided of a frame playing the role of a frame forming a body with the envelope of the bag, and by the other end to part 1b, the lower end of which is fixed to the lower part of the bag. In one of the straps, part 1 b is in two pieces <B> I b '</B> and <B> I </B> b "connected end to end by a soft queton 3.

Each of the parts presents it, when it is laid out flat, a -rectilinear section 1a 'whose free end is fixed, by stitches for example, to the upper part of the bag, followed by a section 1a "which has the shape of an S and which is intended to embrace the shoulder of the wearer. Thanks to this S shape, the straps fit correctly on the shoulders, free the rib cage, do not hamper circulation blood and do not saw the shoulders at the arm joint.

Part 1a of the strap is made of leather or of a synthetic material having a similar rigidity. Given its width and thickness, it has great transverse rigidity which also retains its curvature under the effect of the load. This part 1a is preferably lined, on its inner face, with a layer of flexible material, such as felt, extending beyond the strap so that the relatively stiff edges of the latter do not come into direct contact with the body. of the wearer.

The end of part la which is joined to part I b is, when the strap is made of leather, split lengthwise and the ends of the two resulting tongues are placed on either side of part lb, the three parts being fixed together by a rivet 2 so that part 1b can pivot relative to part la.

CLAIM Straps for a device for transporting loads on the back of a man, characterized by the fact that each of them is formed of two parts, the part of which is intended to rest on the body of the wearer offers great transverse rigidity and has, when it is flat, a straight section, followed by a section having the shape of an S intended to embrace the shoulder. SUB-CLAIM Suspenders according to claim, characterized in that the part of each shoulder strap intended to bear on the body is lined, on its inner face, with a layer of flexible material, which borders said part in order to avoid direct contact of the edges with the wearer's body.
