Motor spring for watch movements. The subject of the invention is a motor spring for clockwork movements, intended to be housed, wound in a spiral, in a barrel drum with a smooth wall and to drive said drum in rotation by friction, by means of its end coil. exterior.
The mainspring is characterized in that it is reinforced by a flexible blade, inserted between its outer end turn and the preceding turn, this blade being fixed to the end of said end turn.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, in section along the plane of the barrel, an embodiment of the object of the invention, the mainspring being shown only partially.
In the barrel drum 1, the teeth of which are not shown, is housed, wound in a spiral, the mainspring represented by its outer end turn 2 and part 3 of the preceding turn. This mainspring is attached, as usual, by its inner end, to the plug of the barrel shaft 6, while its outer end turn 2 is intended to drive the barrel drum 1, directly exerting an effect rubbing against the plain wall of the drum 1, that is to say without the intermediary of a flange.
Between the end turn 2 and the previous turn 3 of the mainspring is inserted a flexible blade 4 (cut in black) which extends over at least three quarters of the length of the end turn 2. This blade is engaged by its outer end in a terminal hook 5 of the coil 2, so that it is integral with the latter.
The blade 4 could be connected by riveting to the end turn 2.
This blade 4 has the function of reacting elastically on the end coil 2 during the winding and unwinding of the motor spring, so as to exert on this coil a corrective effect opposing the decentring of the turns of the motor spring, in the aim to reduce the friction losses between these turns and, on the other hand, to increase the pressure of the end turn 2 against the wall of the drum 1 and, therefore, to ensure good dragging of said drum without the 'Using a flange or other fastening member.
It is for this reason that such a spring will be used advantageously and preferably in watch movements with automatic winding by means of an oscillating mass.
