Description

Chaise pliante.

Folding chair. The present invention relates to a folding chair comprising a first pair of uprights constituting the rear legs of the chair and the front supports of its seat, and a second pair of uprights constituting the front legs of the chair and the supports of its backrest. , the amounts of the .

second pair being connected, approximately at mid-length, by a cross member constituting the rear support of said seat, characterized in that the seat has, at its part which rests on said cross member, several means located at different distances from the front seat and capable of engaging this cross member to adjust the level of the seat and the inclination of the backrest.

The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention seen from the side and in different positions.

The folding chair shown comprises a first pair of uprights 1 constituting the rear legs? of the chair and the front supports 3 of its seat 4, and a second pair of uprights 5 constituting. the front legs 6 of the chair and the supports 7 of its backrest formed by cross members 8. Said uprights 5 are connected, approximately at mid-length, by a cross member 9 of circular section constituting the rear support of said seat. The uprights 1 and 5 are articulated with respect to each other about an axis 16, so that their relative inclination can be varied.

The seat 4, formed by longitudinal elements 10 and cross members 11, has several means located at different distances from the front 12 of the seat and capable of coming into engagement with the cross member 9 for. adjust the level of this seat 4 and the inclination of the backrest.

In the example shown, said means are constituted by notches 13, 14 and 15 provided in each of the longitudinal elements 10, these notches being large enough so that they can receive said cross member 9. In addition, each of the longitudinal elements 10 is formed of two parts 10cc and 10b articulated together on an axis 17 comprised between the notches 13 and 11 respec tively first and second from the front, this proclaims the purpose of folding the rear part of the seat, as shown in phantom, when the cross member 9 is engaged in the notches 13.

In another simpler embodiment, each of the longitudinal elements 10 could be formed in one piece and thus not be articulated.

As can be seen in the drawing, the level of the seat and the inclination of the backrest are different depending on the notch in which the. tra verse 9 is engaged. The highest position (shown in solid lines in the drawing) corresponds to the engagement of the cross member 9 in the notch 13, the middle position (dotted line) is occupied when the cross member 9 is in the notch 14 and the lowest position (dashed line) is achieved when the cross member 9 cooperates with the notch 15.

To fold the chair, it suffices to release the seat 4 from between the uprights 5, to rotate it in the direction of the arrow 18 around a: axis 19 connecting said seat to the uprights 1, then to bring one on the other, the feet '.1 and 6 by pivoting the uprights 1 and 5 around the axis 16; the underside of the seat coming, lean on the backrest, so that the chair, when folded, takes up minimal space.
