<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Cet agencement d'organes suivant l'invention per-
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
An armchair of the aforementioned type is described in Belgian patent n ° 530,061. In this type of chair, the length of the legrest is limited by the height of the front edge of the seat below which the legrest is housed in the retracted position.
If we want to maintain the advantage of a relatively low seat suitable for tall people, it is necessary to provide the legrest, in a manner known per se, with a guide in which an extension can slide.
, The present invention relates to a set of members for submitting such an extension under the control of the mechanism of the aforesaid chair.
According to the invention, the extension is connected to an arm, another point of which is articulated at the end of a fourth connecting rod articulated on the other hand to a solid part of the legrest behind it. here, this arm having a buttonhole in which is engaged a pivot located so that, in the downward position of the legrest, said arm makes an acute angle with this legrest.
According to another feature of the invention, the pivot engaged in the buttonhole of the aforesaid pivoting arm is integral with the articulation between the third link and the aforesaid balance.
The drawing appended to this specification shows schematically and by way of example only, an armchair according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section ---------- in front of one of the lateral mechanisms representing the chair in the position suitable for sitting, the extension being in the retracted position in the support - legs,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 2 is a section similar to that of FIG. 1, the chair occupying an intermediate inclined position, for which the extension is partially extended from the legrest, and
FIG. 3 is a section similar to the preceding ones, the chair occupying a position more inclined towards the rear and for which the extension is entirely out of the legrest.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
The chair shown in the drawings comprises two fixed side walls, one of which is designated by 2. These two side walls are joined together by crossbars 3 and 4 and form a fixed frame. Between the side walls are movable a seat 5 with a backrest 6 as well as a legrest 7 coming to occupy the position which is suitable for supporting the legs when the backrest 6 is strongly inclined towards the rear and the front of the seat is raised as shown in figure 3.
The aforementioned elements are joined together, on each of their lateral faces, by a mechanism which causes them to pivot simultaneously relative to the fixed frame of the chair. Each of the aforesaid mechanisms comprises a link 8 fixed to each of the side walls of the seat 5, for example, by means of screws not shown. This link is articulated at the end of two pivoting arms 9 and 10, the other end of which is articulated to the fixed frame, for example by means of a plate P secured to the frame. When the chair occupies the position suitable for sitting, shown in Figure 1, the arm 9 is tilted rearward and the arm 10 forward.
A connecting rod 11 is articulated, on the one hand, at a point 12 located
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
at the rear of the rod 8 and, on the other hand, to a pivot 15 located between the pivots of the two arms 9 and 10 and carried by a mobile part, in this case an elbow lever 13.
This pivots around a pivot 14 carried by the plate P.
In the sitting position, the articulation 15 of the connecting rod to the angled lever 13 is furthermore located between the articulation 14 of the angled lever and the pivot 16 of the arm 10 tilted forward. The bent lever 13 is still joined by a joint 17 to a second connecting rod 18 directed forward. An intermediate point 19 of this connecting rod serves as a pivot for an articulated balance 20, on the one hand, at a point 21 of the rod 8 located in front of the articulation 22 joining this rod to the arm 10 and, of on the other hand, at 23 to a third connecting rod 24 directed forward.
The front end 25 of this third link as well as the front end 26 of the second link 18 are articulated to a support 27 for the legrest 7.
The legrest 7 is provided with a guide 28 in which an extension 29 can slide. According to the invention, this extension is articulated to an arm 30, another point 31 of which is articulated at the end of a fourth connecting rod 32. The latter is articulated, on the other hand, to a part 33 integral with the support 27 of the legrest behind it. The arm 30 has a buttonhole 34 in which is engaged a pivot located so that, in the downward position of the legrest, as shown in Figure 1, the arm makes an acute angle with the leg rest. '' legrests
In the form of execution shown in the various figures, the pivot of the buttonhole is integral with the articulation 23 between the third connecting rod 24 and the balance 20.
This arrangement of members according to the invention allows
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
is to move the extension 29 under the control of each of the mechanisms connecting the seat to the fixed frame of the chair.
To move from the position suitable for sitting shown in figure 1 to an intermediate position shown in figure 2, the pivot 23, under the control of the mechanism is driven by the movement of the balance 20 and is moved. moves forward in the buttonhole.
When the chair is tilted further back to reach a suitable position for better resting shown in Figure 3, the arm 30 is moved forward under the control of the mechanism so that the pivot 23 is located. towards the back of the buttonhole.
