Chaise avec dossier à rabattement. La présente invention a pour objet une chaise avec dossier à rabattement, permet tant de diminuer son encombrement. Elle est caractérisée en ce qu'elle est constituée par un siège, monté sur quatre pieds et par un dossier articulé au moyen de charnières à la partie postérieure du siège, des moyens étant. prévus pour fixer la position de rabattement du dossier, tous ces organes étant combinés de telle sorte que le dossier puisse se rabattre sur le siège pour diminuer l'encombrement de la chaise et permettre son empilage.
Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, trois formes d'exécution de la chaise avec dossier à rabattement selon l'in vention.
La fig. 1 est une vue en élévation et la fig. 2 une vue en plan d'une première forme d'exécution de la chaise avec dossier relevé.
La fig. 3 montre en élévation et la fig. 4 en plan la manière dont on peut empiler les chaises avec dossier à rabattement.
La fig. 5 montre en élévation une deu xième forme d'exécution de la. chaise avec son dossier relevé, et la fig. 6 en est une vue en plan.
Les fig. 7, 8, 11 et 12 sont, à une échelle plus grande, des charnières d'articulation, savoir: La fie. 7, en élévation, et la fig. 8, en plan, sont des détails d'une charnière assu jettissant le dossier à la chaise de la deu xième l'orme d*exécution, fig. 5 et 6. La fig. 11, en élévation, et la fig. 12, en plan, représentent, une charnière assujettis sant le dossier à la chaise d'une troisième forme d'exécution, fig. 9 et 10.
Les fig. 9 et 10, la première représentant la chaise avec dossier relevé et la seconde avec dossier rabattu, montrent la troisième forme d'exécution constituée par une chaise de style rustique.
Dans les fig. 1 et 2, on a représenté la première forme d'exécution de la chaise avec dossier à rabattement qui consiste en un siège 1 monté sur quatre pieds dont les deux de devant, 2 et 3, sont verticaux et les deux pos térieurs, 4 et 5, sont inclinés en arrière et forment avec le siège un angle obtus. Cet assemblage des pieds avec le siège donne à la chaise une plus grande assise et permet de les empiler dans un volume très réduit, comme le montrent les fig. 3 et 4 dans lesquelles on a représenté une pile de trois chaises avec dossier rabattu; la chaise reposant sur le sol est dessinée en traits mixtes à deux points, la chaise superposée, eu traits mixtes et la chaise supérieure, en traits pleins.
Le dossier 6 est articulé au siège 1. au moyen de deux charnières 7 disposées sur les côtés du siège, chacune des charnières de construction courante, comportant deux plaques, dont l'une est vissée sous le siège et l'autre dans le montant du dossier. Pour ren forcer l'articulation du dossier et pour limi-, ter la position de relèvement de ce dernier, la chaise suivant fig. 1 et 2 comporte, en phis des charnières 7 et de chaque côté du siège une contrefiche 11, en forme de glissière, pivotant en 12 sur le dossier et coulissant en 13 sur le siège.
Pour assurer les positions extrêmes de ra battement du dossier, les pivots 12 et 13 ou seulement l'un d'eux pourraient être munis par exemple d'un petit ressort ou d'une ron delle Grower, intercalés entre la tête du pivot et la glissière.
La coulisse de la contrefiche 11 pourrait aussi être pourvue à son extrémité d'une al véole où viendrait se loger le prisonnier 13 à fin de course.
Pour empiler les chaises, il suffit de ra battre le dossier sur le siège, dans la direc tion de la flèche f de fig. 1 et lorsqu'on veut l'utiliser, on procède en sens inverse pour relever le dossier.
Au lieu d'employer une contrefiche 1l pour retenir le dossier dans la position rele vée, cette dernière position peut être limitée directement par le bord inférieur du dossier, comme représenté dans la seconde forme d'exécution (fig. 5 et 6), dans lesquelles le siège et les pieds sont identiques à ceux dé crits dans la première forme d'exécution (fig. 1 et 2). Quant au dossier 14, il diffère du dossier 6 par le fait que son extrémité inférieure 15 se prolonge au-dessous du ni veau du siège pour constituer un appui lorsque le dossier est relevé. Cette extrémité bute ainsi contre le cadre du siège et rem place la contrefiche utilisée dans le même but dans la première forme d'exécution.
Pour articuler le dossier au siège, on se sert d'une charnière qui a la forme de celle représentée en détail aux fig. 7 et 8. Selon ces figures, chaque charnière est composée d'une première patte 7', noyée dans le dos sier 14 et retenue dans celui-ci par des gou pilles 8, et d'une seconde patte 9, vissée sur le siège et masquée par le revêtement de ce dernier. Les deux pattes sont articulées sur un pivot 10, en forme de boulon à écrou, per mettant un démontage facile du dossier 14.
Le maniement du dossier ainsi que la pos sibilité d'empiler les chaises les unes sur les autres pour diminuer leur encombrement, sont les mêmes que ceux décrits dans la pre mière forme d'exécution.
Les fig. 9 et 10 représentent une troisième forme d'exécution constituée par une chaise de style rustique. Dans cette troisième forme d'exécution, le dossier 16 est, articulé au siège 17 au moyen d'une charnière, telle que représentée en fig. 11 et 12. Cette charnière comporte une plaque 18, qui est noyée dans le dossier 16 et fixée au moyen de goupilles 19, ainsi qu'un.e plaque 20 qui traverse le siège 17 pour être fixée sous ce dernier au moyen d'une clavette 21. Les deux plaques 18 et 20 sont articulées entre elles au moyen d'un axe 22.
Pour permettre d'arrêter le dossier 16 dans une position intermédiaire, l'articula tion entre les deux plaques 18 et 20 est munie de crans 23, et une rondelle Grower 24 est intercalée dans la charnière.
Lorsque le dossier est complètement re levé, son extrémité inférieure renforcée 25 vient buter sur le siège 17.
Les chaises décrites conviennent particu lièrement aux établissements à grande af fluence, pour avoir sous la main un grand nombre de chaises de réserve occupant le moins de place possible.
Un autre avantage des chaises décrites réside dans le fait qu'elles peuvent être ré duites sous la table, ce qui n'est pas possible avec les chaises à dossier fixe.
Enfin, lorsque la circulation est encom brée entre les rangées de tables, par exemple dans un établissement < le consommation, ce dossier mobile permet à la personne assise de rabattre celui-ci sous Lin faible angle, de manière à élargir le passage sans être obligée toutefois de se lever de son siège.

In fig. 1 and 2, there is shown the first embodiment of the chair with folding backrest which consists of a seat 1 mounted on four legs of which the two in front, 2 and 3, are vertical and the two rear, 4 and 5, are tilted back and form an obtuse angle with the seat. This assembly of the legs with the seat gives the chair a larger base and allows them to be stacked in a very small volume, as shown in fig. 3 and 4 in which there is shown a stack of three chairs with folded backrest; the chair resting on the floor is drawn in phantom with two dots, the superimposed chair in phantom and the upper chair in solid lines.
The backrest 6 is articulated to the seat 1 by means of two hinges 7 arranged on the sides of the seat, each of the hinges of standard construction, comprising two plates, one of which is screwed under the seat and the other in the upright. folder. To reinforce the backrest articulation and to limit its raising position, the chair as shown in fig. 1 and 2 comprises, in phis hinges 7 and on each side of the seat a strut 11, in the form of a slide, pivoting at 12 on the backrest and sliding at 13 on the seat.

Instead of using a strut 11 to retain the backrest in the raised position, the latter position can be limited directly by the lower edge of the backrest, as shown in the second embodiment (fig. 5 and 6), in which the seat and the feet are identical to those described in the first embodiment (fig. 1 and 2). As for the backrest 14, it differs from the backrest 6 in that its lower end 15 extends below the level of the seat to constitute a support when the backrest is raised. This end thus abuts against the frame of the seat and replaces the strut used for the same purpose in the first embodiment.
To articulate the backrest to the seat, a hinge is used which has the shape of that shown in detail in FIGS. 7 and 8. According to these figures, each hinge is composed of a first tab 7 ', embedded in the back sier 14 and retained therein by pins 8, and of a second tab 9, screwed onto the seat and masked by the coating thereof. The two legs are articulated on a pivot 10, in the form of a nut bolt, allowing easy removal of the backrest 14.
The handling of the backrest as well as the possibility of stacking the chairs one on top of the other to reduce their bulk, are the same as those described in the first embodiment.
Figs. 9 and 10 show a third embodiment consisting of a rustic style chair. In this third embodiment, the backrest 16 is articulated to the seat 17 by means of a hinge, as shown in FIG. 11 and 12. This hinge comprises a plate 18, which is embedded in the backrest 16 and fixed by means of pins 19, as well as a plate 20 which passes through the seat 17 to be fixed under the latter by means of a key 21. The two plates 18 and 20 are articulated to one another by means of a pin 22.
To enable the backrest 16 to be stopped in an intermediate position, the articulation between the two plates 18 and 20 is provided with notches 23, and a Grower washer 24 is interposed in the hinge.
When the backrest is fully raised, its reinforced lower end 25 abuts on the seat 17.
The chairs described are particularly suitable for establishments with high attendance, to have on hand a large number of spare chairs occupying as little space as possible.
