Definitions
- the front part of the seat and the middle part of the backrest are assembled to the sides using opposite lateral buttons which have an irregular profile and which are capable, by means of a reciprocal orientation, different from that of use, momentarily conferred on the envisaged elements, to be introduced into buttonholes with corresponding profile and to be retained inside of them by pivoting by folding down said elements to the position of use, while that the rear part of the seat is joined to the sides by projecting lateral ears which, at the end of the folding down, engage in conjugated support gussets.
- the invention does not preclude the production of seats with adjustable backrest in inclination, and that it allows above all, by means of the provision of reinforcement bars and suitable intermediate supports, obtaining seats with multiple seats, in the form of benches, benches or the like.
- the chair shown in fig. 1 and 2 is formed, in the manner known per se, by the assembly of four separate elements, namely a backrest 1, a seat 2 and two hollow vertical sides 3, the upper part of each of these being shaped so to form an armrest 3 a or to receive such an armrest.
- the front part of the seat 2 comprises, opposite one another, two lateral buttons 4 shaped so as to have a cylindrical part secured to a heel with an irregular profile.
- buttons 4 there is provided in the wall of each sidewall 3 which faces inward a buttonhole 5 established with the same profile, so that by assigning the seat 2 an appropriate orientation relative to the two sides 3 (illustrated in 2 ′ in fig. 3), it is possible to introduce the buttons 4 into the buttonholes 5, these buttons being locked in place in said buttonholes once said seat 2 is folded horizontally by pivoting.
- buttons 4 and corresponding buttonholes 5 are adopted for fixing the backrest 1 to the two sides 3.
- the buttons 4 are provided in the middle part of the backrest 1, so as to cooperate with buttonholes 5 formed in the upper part of the sides 3, at the level of the armrests 3 a .
- the engagement of the buttons 4 in the buttonholes 5 implies the practically horizontal orientation of the backrest 1 which is then folded vertically by pivoting to ensure locking.
- the base of the backrest 1 finally comes to bear against a rear stop 3 b (fig. 5) provided for this purpose on each side 3.
- This base has a spout 1 a which projects forward so as to determine a horizontal range able to accommodate the rear edge of the seat 2 when the latter is folded down.
- a locking mechanism which, in the embodiment envisaged in FIG. 7, includes a tooth 9 integral with the rear edge of said seat and shaped so as to snap elastically inside an opening 10 made in the base of the backrest 1, immediately above the spout 3b of that -this.
- the ends of the horizontal bars 11 engage in consoles 13 provided on the inner wall of each of the sides 3, while the intermediate support 12 has bearing surfaces 12 a open downwards so as to bear on said bars, said support thus being suspended from them.
- the retention in place of the elements of the framework thus produced is operated by the two backs 1 and the two seats 2, the side buttons 4 of which cooperate either with the buttonholes 5 of the sidewalls 3, or with equivalent buttonholes formed in the intermediate support 12.
- the latter also includes lateral gussets 7 for receiving the ears 6 of the seats 2, so that all of the elements of the benches are perfectly clamped, forming a rigid whole.
- the length of the bars 11 varies as a function of the number of places desired for the bench or bench to be produced, this length being in any event a multiple of the width of each seat.
- the intermediate support 12 of FIG. 8 per that referenced 14 in fig. 9, which is provided with feet suitable for bearing on the ground; in this case the bearing surfaces 14a are open upwards so as to support the bars 11.
- intermediate supports 12 or 14 are likely to include armrests similar to that of the sidewalls 3. Furthermore the backrest 1 of one of the elementary seats of the bench or bench can be omitted, while the seat 2 is replaced by a horizontal tray forming a shelf, possibly arranged to receive a flower box or similar article.
- Fig. 10 illustrates the production, in accordance with the invention, of an armchair with a reclining back.
- This comprises two sides 3 identical to those described above, so as to cooperate with a backrest 21 and a seat 22.
- the rear part of this seat 22 comprises, behind each lateral ear 6, a projection 15 which in combination with a half-flange 16 arranged in the sidewall 3, constitutes a sort of shell which can be opened in two parts defining a cylindrical bearing 17.
- the retaining of the seat 22 is in this case operated by a locking tab 18, arranged so as to snap elastically below the gusset 7 of the corresponding flank 3 for example.
- this folder 21 comprises two lateral lugs 20 provided with a boss 23 horizontally turned outwards in order to be engaged inside a housing 24 is formed in each of the side arm a maneuvering swing bar 24.
- buttons 4 which are intended to be engaged in the upper buttonholes 5 of the sides 3, so that the middle part of the backrest 21 is joined to said sides through bosses 23 and the operating bar 24. Since the housings 24 has arms of this bar 24 have a triangular profile with rounded angles, it is understood that the pins 23 are capable of coming to fit in the angles referenced 25 and 26 in fig. 13 and 14, thus conferring on the file 21 two different perfectly stable orientations, the transition from one to the other of these two orientations being effected by angular displacement of the oscillating bar 24, implying the transition to an intermediate position shown in fig. 12.
- this embodiment of the invention allowing the user to easily adjust the orientation of the backrest with respect to the seat, is capable of being adopted for the production of multi-seat seats of the kind from that illustrated in fig. 8 and 9.

Abstract
Description
We know that in order to reduce the size and thus facilitate their storage and transport, we have proposed armchairs or other seats in which the four main elements, namely the seat, the backrest and the two sides, are made up by separate parts which can be easily assembled together by the user himself. It should however be observed that the solutions which have been adopted have not given full satisfaction, owing either to the complexity of the assembly and disassembly operations, or to the involvement of separate assembly parts which risk d 'be lost, or still insufficient rigidity of the seat in the assembled state.
It is these drawbacks that the present invention mainly intends to remedy.
In the seat according to the invention, the front part of the seat and the middle part of the backrest are assembled to the sides using opposite lateral buttons which have an irregular profile and which are capable, by means of a reciprocal orientation, different from that of use, momentarily conferred on the envisaged elements, to be introduced into buttonholes with corresponding profile and to be retained inside of them by pivoting by folding down said elements to the position of use, while that the rear part of the seat is joined to the sides by projecting lateral ears which, at the end of the folding down, engage in conjugated support gussets.
It is understood that such a system does not use any separate assembly part and that its practical implementation is within the reach of any user, without requiring any tool. It will also be observed that a real clamping of the four elements of the seat is obtained, radically avoiding any appearance of untimely play.
It should also be noted that the invention does not preclude the production of seats with adjustable backrest in inclination, and that it allows above all, by means of the provision of reinforcement bars and suitable intermediate supports, obtaining seats with multiple seats, in the form of benches, benches or the like.

- Fig. 13 and 14 partially reproduce fig. 12, the file being represented in the two planned orientations.
The chair shown in fig. 1 and 2 is formed, in the manner known per se, by the assembly of four separate elements, namely a
In accordance with the invention and as more particularly shown in FIG. 2, 3 and 4, the front part of the
The same assembly system by
The base of the
It should be noted (fig. 2, 5 and 6) that the rear part of the seat behaves, opposite one another, two projecting
In order to avoid any untimely lifting of the
The removable nature of the elements of the chair allows the realization of multi-seat seats in the form of benches, benches or the like. In fig. 8, there is illustrated the arrangement of a two-seater bench seat in which the two
The ends of the
It will be appreciated that the length of the
It goes without saying that the intermediate supports 12 or 14 are likely to include armrests similar to that of the
Fig. 10 illustre la réalisation, conformément à l'invention, d'un fauteuil à dossier inclinable. Fig. 10 illustrates the production, in accordance with the invention, of an armchair with a reclining back. This comprises two
12.The wall of these arms which is turned towards the outside is secured to
8 et 9.It goes without saying that this embodiment of the invention, allowing the user to easily adjust the orientation of the backrest with respect to the seat, is capable of being adopted for the production of multi-seat seats of the kind from that illustrated in fig. 8 and 9.
