Process for the preparation of an aldehyde. It has been found that a valuable aldehyde is obtained if a 11o1 cyanuric halide is condensed with a 3lo13-amino-1-benzaldehyde-6-sulfonic acid, one mole of 3-amino-1-benzaldehyde and one mole of ammonia.
The new aldehyde has an affinity for wool fibers and can be used as an aid in dyeing with acid-dyeable complex chroin compounds of o-oxy-o'-amirioazo dyes.
In the present process, cyanuric chloride is advantageously used as the cyanuric halide. The condensation is carried out in such a way that the two aromatic amines are first condensed one after the other with the cyanuric halide and the ammonia is reacted with the last remaining C-Cl residue. In the rest, the noildensation reactions can be carried out according to
to see well-known Aletboden be carried out, z. B. in aqueous medium and with advantage. with the addition of acid-binding agents. As is generally customary in the case of condensations with cyanuric halides, it is also advisable in the present case to increase the reaction temperature gradually from the first to the third reaction.
Example: A laekmusne-Lttral reacting solution of 20.1 parts of 3-aminobenzaldehyde-6-sulphonic acid in 500 parts of water is added dropwise within 60 minutes to a suspension of 18 parts of cyanuric chloride in 800 parts of water. The cyanuric chloride should be in the finest possible form, and the reaction temperature is adjusted to 0-5 by indirect cooling.
Dilute sodium carbonate solution is added continuously so that the reaction mixture always shows a purple reaction on Congo paper. After about 3 hours, the theoretically required amount of 5.3 parts of sodium carbonate for condensation is consumed.
Now, within 30 minutes, a solution is run into the reaction mixture obtained in this way, which is obtained by dissolving 12.1 parts of 3-amino-1-benzaldehyde in 600 parts of water in the heat with the addition of 11.5 parts of 30% Hydrochloric acid and subsequent cooling to 60 has received. The reaction temperature is allowed to rise to around 30. With constant stirring at 30 to 40, dilute sodium carbonate solution is then added continuously, always so much that the reaction mixture becomes neutral. responds.
It takes about 10 hours until the amount of 10.6 parts of sodium carbonate theoretically required for condensation has been consumed, with the first half, which essentially only releases the base from the chlorohydrate of aminobenzaldehyde, is used up within a short time.
The reaction mixture, which has become gelatinous, is added to 6.5 parts of 27% aqueous ammonia and the whole is heated to 96 to 9 ° within one hour. A permanent weak alkaline reaction occurs. After boiling for two hours on the reflux condenser, trace amounts of impurities are filtered off while hot. 200 parts of sodium chloride are added to the hot filtrate. When cooling down, the condensation product precipitates as a slightly brownish colored sodium salt. It is filtered off and dried.
