Clockwork piece set by the crystal. The object of the present invention is a watch piece for setting the time by means of the crystal, comprising a rotating crystal capable of taking, axially, two positions, one of which is to set the piece to the time by acting directly on a needle.
This timepiece is characterized, according to the invention, in that the crystal is freely adjusted in a bezel screwing onto the case and has internal projections arranged, when the bezel is screwed on almost entirely, but not block on the caseband, below the plane of this needle and susceptible, when the net read is partially unscrewed from this first position and the crystal is rotated, to cause the needle to rotate.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, comprising in addition to setting the time, winding by the crystal.
Fig. 1 is an axial section of the timepiece, in the winding position; fig. 2 is an axial half-section in the time-setting position; fig. 3 is an elevational view, on a reduced scale, of the ring gear with internal teeth, and FIG. 4 is a plan view, from below, of the rotating glass.
The timepiece shown is a wristwatch comprising a cap (bottom-middle part) 1, a bezel 2 screwed onto the middle part, a crystal â in transparent synthetic resin, a movement 4 fixed to the bottom of the cap 1 by tenons 5 carried by a ring 6 welded to this bottom. On the underside of the movement 4, in a safe hollow provided for this purpose, a pinion 7 is pivoted, the teeth of which extend beyond the periphery of the movement. This pinion 7 is engaged .directly (or by means of a snap-fit), with the barrel ratchet (not shown).
On the movement cage 4 is fitted a hardened steel sleeve 8 capable of rotating, but not of moving axially, retained that it is downwards by the ring 6 welded to the bottom and upwards by a bearing 9 of the movement cage cooperating with a bearing 10 of the sleeve. The sleeve 8 has, at its lower part, an inner toothed ring with sawtooth Il (fi. 3) which is continuously engaged with the pin 7. The upper edge of the sleeve 8 has, on the other hand, a toothing with large crane 12 which constitutes a coupling member.
The crystal 3 is freely adjusted in the opening of the bezel 2. Its edge has an outer heel 13 that an elastic device composed of a corrugated ring 14 and a washer 15 and resting on an internal bearing 1â of the middle tends to press tightly against an interior bearing surface 17 of the bezel 2.
The edge of the glass 3 has, on the one hand, a toothing with large crenellations 18 intended to cooperate, in the re-assembly position shown in FIG. 1, with the crenellations 12 of the sleeve 8, and, on the other hand, the projections 19 directed inward and placed, in the winding position, below the plane of the minute hand 20.
The operation of the combined device for winding and setting the time of the timepiece described and shown is as follows: In the winding position shown in FIG. 1, the bezel 2 is almost screwed: entirely, but not fully, on the case; the toothed teeth 18 of the. lens 3 is engaged with the crenellated teeth of the sleeve 8. It is then sufficient to rotate the lens 3, for example, by pinching it between the fingers by its part 21 projecting above the bezel and which is knurled, to rotating the sleeve 8, and through it the pinion 7 engaged, on the other hand, with the barrel ratchet.
If we screw the bezel? ; l block, the heel 13 of the crystal is clamped between the edge of the caseband and the scope 17 of the bezel, forming a. joint perfectly. waterproof.
When the window 2 is partially unscrewed, the glass 3 follows its upward movement under the action of the elastic device 14, 15. The coupling between the slots 18 of the ice and the slots 12 of the sleeve 8 is broken and the projections 19 of the ice are vented at the level of the needle 20. By rotating the ice, this needle is driven in rotation of the angle required for setting the time.
It goes without saying that the timepiece may be other than a wristwatch, for example a pocket or on-board watch or chronograph for vehicles, etc.
It also goes without saying that the winding device by the crystal can be omitted, for example, in the case of an automatic re-assembly watch to which the present invention is most particularly applicable.
