Le pivot 5 est ajusté dans un trou central d'un coussinet cylindrique 1'2 (rubis, saphir, corindon, etc.) chassé dans un alésage d'un porte-coussinet 13 formant chaton. Ce porte- coussinet, par exemple en acier, a la. forme d'un prisme droit quadrangulaire;

Shock-absorbing bearing for clockwork axis. The subject of the invention is a shock-absorbing bearing for an axis, for a clock movement, in particular, but not exclusively, for the axis of a watch movement balance.
This bearing is of the type comprising a bearing which, pierced with a hole, is mounted in a bearing holder and supports a pivot of the axis, said bearing holder being housed in a recess of a fixed bearing body , .in a way to. to be able to move laterally in all directions within, the limits determined by an opening. of the body (the bearing, not giving way to the axis.
The invention relates mainly to the arrangement and the damping means of this bearing holder.
The latter is kept centered in said recess by means of a flexible ring inserted between the wall of this recess and the coizsinet holder, this ring, constituting a spring-ainortisseur, bearing laterally against projecting parts that present, of on the one hand, the perimeter of the pad holder and, on the other hand, said wall, the whole being arranged (so that said ring can flex while being deformed, under the effect of a lateral impact,
react elastically against this shock to cushion it and, by straightening up, return the bearing holder to its normal centered position.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the anterior bearing (bridge side) of the balance axis - of a watch movement. The opposite pivot (dial side) of this axis will be supported by a shock-absorbing bearing identical or similar to that forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a section along the broken line A -B - C of fig. 2; fig. 2 shows an orthogonal projection of the lower part of the bearing, located below a plane II-II of FIG. 1. In the drawing, we can see part of the balance axis 3, with a tigeron 4 and a pivot 5.
This axis passes through a cylindrical opening 6 of a bearing body 7 consisting of a washer driven into a round opening. of Ia plate 9 due rooster, This bearing body could be formed by the, plate 9 itself, or by another element of the frame of the movement.
The bore of the opening 6 -is larger than the diameter (In rod- ron 4, so that the axis 3 has a certain lateral play in all directions in the opening 6, including the wall. serves as a stop for the pin 4. Between a bearing surface of the pin 3 and a drop of the washer 7 (bearing body) is provided a height 10 flap giving the pin a certain bottom axial clearance. up.
The pivot 5 is fitted in a central hole of a cylindrical bearing 1'2 (ruby, sapphire, corundum, etc.) driven into a bore of a bearing 13 forming a chaton. This bearing holder, for example made of steel, has the. shape of a right quadrangular prism;
it is freely arranged in a recess 14 of the bearing body 7 and rests, by its base, on the bottom plane of said recess, so that its four parallel edges are also parallel to the axis of the balance 3 and to the wall of said recess which is larger than the diagonal of the bearing holder,
given the fact that its wall has four notches 15 formed respectively facing said parallel edges of the pad holder. These notches are therefore separated from each other by bosses 16 (projecting parts) of said wall.
These bosses, offset with respect to said ridges, form bearing or adjustment surfaces, preferably arranged as shown, at an equal distance from the geometric axis of the balance 3, for a united flexible ring 17 which, at rest, is perfectly circular and is supported, with hard friction, by its peripheral surface, on the four bosses 16, in the. upper part of recess 14.
In the ring 17, relatively narrow, is inserted the pad holder, 13 by its parallel edges comprising for this purpose, at their upper end, each -a notch-bearing 18; the flexible ring being force-adjusted on these notch-bearing surfaces, the offset angle between the members 13 and 7 is constant.
The ring 17 is; ensured on the pad holder by a shell 19 fixed on the. board 9 by means of screws (not shown

Its function is to react elast: iquemeut on the movable counterpivot 20 to dampen and absorb the shocks and harmful axial forces .de bottom up, to which the balance axis could be subjected.
The bearing described is remarkable for the simplicity of its technical design, avoiding the use of members with inclined or conical adjustment surfaces; it has a small number of constituent elements, the sheltering and assembly of which are inexpensive and easy.
The pad holder could have a different shape from that of the example shown in the drawing, provided that it has at least three projecting parts serving as a support for the flexible ring. The number of protrusions (bos, sage, s) of the wall of the recess of the bearing housing will correspond to that of the protrusions of the bearing holder.
