Can opener. The object of the present invention is a can opener, characterized by a clamp at the end of one of the branches - of which is mounted an operating member driving a circular knife, intended to cut the sheet metal of the. box, and a set of toothed wheels of different diameters, having the same axis as the knife and placed between the latter and the actuator,
the end. -of the other branch of the clamp carrying a cylindrical roller mounted so as to be able to turn on its axis, this roller being intended to rest on the edge of the box so as to keep the toothed wheels applied to this edge when using the can opener.
The diameters of the toothed wheels of the assembly and their arrangement can be chosen so that this assembly approximates the rim of the box to be opened.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention: The fi-. 1 is a front view of the can opener, FIG. 2 a profile view thereof, while FIG. 8i is a section of the instrument taken along the line III-III -of FIG. 1. The can opener shown has a clamp having: two branches 1 and 2.
At the end of the branch 2 are mounted, on the same shaft integral with a butterfly 4, a circular knife 3 and a set of toothed wheels 5 of different diameters arranged between this knife and the butterfly 4. The end of branch 1 carries a cylindrical roller 6 mounted so as to be able to turn and intended to bear on the rim of the box, so as: to keep the toothed wheels applied to: this rim when using the 'can opener.
The diameters of the toothed wheels of the assembly 5 and the arrangement of these wheels are chosen so that this assembly approximately matches the rim of the box to be opened.
When you want to open a tin can, for example, it suffices to place the knife 3 perpendicularly on the cover, near the. periphery of the latter, and to bring the roller 6 below it by pinching by means of the branches 1 and \? the edge of the box between the roller 6 and the toothed wheels. This makes it possible to easily exert sufficient pressure to penetrate the knife into the cover and to keep it pressed, while the toothed wheels taking the edge of the box as a fulcrum are moved by the butterfly .
The rotation of the latter thus forces the knife to open the box.
