Device for cutting wire into sections of determined length and adjustable at will. The object of the invention is an apparatus for cutting wire into sections of determined length and adjustable at will, characterized by a disc rotated by the wire which is debited, actuating by means of a re lathe driver,
a cam acting on a device for the step-by-step advancement of a toothed wheel provided with a pin cooperating with a stop of a device for adjusting the length of the sections to determine the initial position of said wheel and actuating, after have turned by a determined angle, depending on the length of the section, a member opposing the tilting of a lever to release the latter and allow it to tilt and cut the wire.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the apparatus with a side wall removed.
Fig. 2 is a front view with this wall. Fig. 3 is a plan view in section along the axis of the indicator disc.
Fig. 4 shows a side view.
. Figs. 5 and 6 show in front views the triggering of the cutting lever. The apparatus has a speed reducer which is enclosed in a box 1 with a cover 2 and a removable side wall 3. The movement is controlled by a worm gear 4, 4a, 5a, 5, 6a and 6.
The control axis 8 of the first worm 4 protrudes on one side from the wall of the box 1, and carries, fixed on it, the disc 7 which is driven in rotation by the wire, which is partially wound up. on it and which moves longitudinally. The diameter of this disc is chosen according to the length of the wire sections.
When it is desired, for example, to cut sections of great length, the diameter of the disc 7 could be 63., 7 mm, which corresponds to a circumference of 200 mm. 5 turns of the disc give the length of one meter, and 25,000 turns correspond to a length of wire of 5,000 m. The shaft 9 is extended through the intermediate wall 10 of the box and carries, at its end, the cam 11.
The cam Il actuates a ratchet advancement mechanism comprising a lever 13, oscillating around the fixed point 12 and carrying at its lower end a movable pawl 14. The free end 15 of the pawl 14 engages in the ratchet den ture 16, and its opposite end 17 is connected, by means of a connecting rod 18, to an ear 19 of a pawl 20.
The pawl 20 can oscillate around the fixed point 12 and is supported, under the action of a spring 22, stretched between a hooking piece 23 fixed to the box and an extension 21 of the pawl against the teeth of the wheel 16 The cam 11 set in rotation by the disc 7 strikes, at each revolution, with its nose 24 against the lower edge of the lever 13 and pushes this lever 13 to rights against the action of the spring 26. The end 15 of the clip. This moves one tooth at a time, while the pawl 20 prevents the wheel 16 from turning back.
After. the nose 24 of the cam 11 has acted on the lever 13, the wheel 16 rotates in the direction of rotation of a watch hand under the action of the spring 26, until the extension 13a of the lever 13 stops against a pivot 29, fixed to the intermediate wall 10 of the box. This is repeated with each revolution of cam 11.
On the wheel 16 is fixed the pin 27 which, at a given moment, abuts against the lever 28 arranged on the axis 42 of the wheel 16, and moves it to the left, thus freeing the end of the left arm from a lever 30, mounted on the pivot 29, this lever being subjected to the action of the flat spring 36. On the left arm of the lever 30 is fixed a pin 37. At the moment when the pawl 28 is released (fig. 6) , the lever 30 rests, by the pin 37, on the cam 11, and when the nose of the cam has passed the city plug 37, the lever 30 pivots around the pivot 29 under the action of the spring 36.
This pivoting of the lever 30 always occurs at exactly the same point.
The right arm of this lever passes through a slot 31 of the box and extends beyond the median plane of the disc 7. Its end 34 is claw-shaped. A small knife 33 is fixed, by two screws 32, on this lever arm. The wire which is guided between two horns 35, including the lower one in the form of scissors with the knife 33, is cut when the lever 30 is rotated.
The connecting rod 18 is arranged so that when the lever 30 is rotated by moving its claw 34 upwards, the connecting rod 18 is also pushed upwards, and the latter releases the two pawls 14 and 20, which releases the wheel 16. Around the hub of the latter is wound a spring 38, one of the ends of which is fixed to the wheel, the other to the intermediate wall 10. This spring, which has been tensioned by rotation of the wheel 16, returns the wheel 16 to its initial position when the pawls are released, that is to say that the city plug 27 on the wheel 16 abuts against a stop 39 of a wheel 40, wedged on the axis 42 and housed in a bore of the removable side wall.
On its hub 44, and on the outside of the wall, is fixed the indicator disc 41 making it possible, by means of a scale, to adjust the position of the stop 39, according to the desired length of wire. For this purpose, the wheel 40 can be moved axially on the axis 42 against a spring 45. By moving the wheel 40, the hub 44 and the indicator disc 41 outwards, the teeth are released. of the wheel 40 of the toothed sector 43 fixed on the wall 3 and the wheel can be rotated in a position according to the indicator corresponding to a determined length.
If the disc is now released, the wheel 40 engages in the sector 43 which maintains it in the adjusted position, which position determines the initial position of the wheel 16, that is to say the angle at which it must turn before the thread is cut.
The box of the device is provided with a fixing device consisting, for example, of a bracket 46 provided with a screw 47.
