Watch with stoppable second hand. The object of the present invention is a watch with a stoppable second hand in which the second hand, placed at the center of the movement, is driven by a wheel fixed on the small average axis.
It is characterized in that this wheel is mounted in friction on said axis in such a way that it can be stopped under the effect of braking and that it allows, on the other hand, the resetting of the second hand.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial section.
Fig. 2 is a partial plan view. At the center of the movement is the second axis 1 carrying at one of its ends the second hand 2 and at the other the pinion 3 meshing with the wheel 4.
The wheel 4 placed on the disc 5 is pressed against the latter by the spring 6. It will therefore rotate with the latter as long as the resistances remain below the value of the friction. The friction without being exaggerated must be sufficient to drive the pinion and the second hand.
If, on the other hand, an additional resistance, in this case shoe 7, brakes the wheel, the pressure is no longer sufficient to drive the wheel, the latter stops and with it the pinion 3 and the second hand 2. Braking could also be done on axis 1, without modifying the effect.
On the second axis 1 is fixed a heart 8, working with a rocker 9 (fig. 2). When the rocker 9 pushes the heart 8, the latter drives the pinion 3 and with it the wheel 4, causing it to slip on the disc 5.
The second hand then returns to zero and remains there until the lever 9 is released.
We also have the means either to stop the needle, or to bring it back to zero, which makes it possible to make all the observations that we want.
The movement of the heart and that of the hoof can be done with a single pusher. We can also use two separate pushers, of which 1.11m controls the reset, zero of the needle and the other ground) stop.
In this case the process is as follows. By pressing the first button, we put the second hand there, zero. When you let go, the needle starts up.
When the observation time has elapsed, the other button is pressed, which has the effect of stopping the needle in the position it is in.
Note that in this watch, the running state is the normal state for the second hand so that we can let it run continuously without any risk of influencing the precision of the movement.
We can also add to this watch a counter whose hand will be reset to zero at the same time as that of the second.
