Claims (14)

  1. Braking device for a gear wheel of a gear train comprising at least two wheel sets, a first wheel set (2) comprising a toothed wheel (3) pivoting around a shaft (5) and meshing with a second wheel set (6) comprising a second toothed wheel (7) pivoting around a second shaft (9) parallel to said first shaft (5), such braking device comprising an elastic element forming a brake (1; 1A; 1B) which is arranged coaxial to the first wheel set (2), characterized in that the brake forming element (1; 1A; 1B) is associated with said first wheel set (2) in a manner to be driven in rotation thereby, in that the brake forming element (1; 1A; 1B) exhibits at its periphery a friction surface (39) and in that the axial position of said brake forming element (1) relative to said first shaft (5) is chosen relative to the axial position of the second toothed wheel (7) in a manner such that in the meshing zone (43) of the wheel sets (2) and (6), the corresponding portion of said friction surface (39) bears elastically against one of the faces of said second toothed wheel (7) so as to brake the latter.
  2. Braking device according to claim 1, characterized in that the friction surface (39) is continuous.
  3. Braking device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the friction surface (39) is annular.
  4. Braking device according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the outer diameter (D₁; D′₁) of the brake forming element (1) is greater than or equal to the total diameter (D₂; D′₂) of the toothed wheel (3) on which it is fixed.
  5. Braking device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the brake forming element in its released state has the form of a dish (1), the concave side of which is turned towards the first toothed wheel (3).
  6. Braking device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the brake forming element has the form of a disc (1A).
  7. Braking device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the brake forming element has the form of a ring (1B).
  8. Braking device according to one of claims 5 or 6, characterized in that the brake forming element (1; 1A) is provided with a circular central opening (37) and is assembled around the shaft (5) of the first toothed wheel (3).
  9. Braking device according to claim 8, characterized in that an adjustment ring (41) forming a spacer is assembled between the toothed wheel (3) and the brake forming element (1; 1A).
  10. Braking device according to claim 7, characterized in that the ring (1B) is fixed onto one of the faces of the first toothed wheel (3) by gluing.
  11. Braking device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the brake forming element (1) is fashioned in brass.
  12. Timepiece of the type comprising at least one first driving toothed wheel (3) meshing with a second toothed wheel (7) bearing a hand and driven by said first wheel (3), characterized in that it includes a braking device in accordance with any one of the preceding claims, such braking device being arranged coaxially to the first driving toothed wheel (3).
  13. Timepiece according to claim 12, characterized in that it is constituted by a chronograph watch.
  14. Timepiece according to claim 13, characterized in that the first driving toothed wheel (3) is a clutch wheel secured around a gear hub (21), in that the second driven toothed wheel (7) is a chronograph wheel bearing a chronograph hand (11) and in that the brake forming element (1) is maintained around the gear hub (21) between the clutch wheel (3) and a clutch ring (29).
