un mécanisme pour rappeler cette aiguille des secondes dans une position déter minée et la laisser repartir, dans laquelle ce mécanisme comprenduncoeur solidaire de cette aiguille, un levier dit marteau dont un bras est destiné à coopérer avec ce coeur, au moins deux organes dentés reliant cinématiquement cette aiguille au rouage principal et dont l'un est monté à frottement gras sur l'un des mo biles de ce rouage, des moyens de liaison ciné- n#atique entre le susdit marteau et une tige de remontoir qui commande en même temps un mécanisme de mise à l'heure dont une ti rette coopère avec elle en étant engagée dans une gorge circulaire de cette tige;
Watch with a seconds hand having the same axis of rotation as a minute hand. The present invention relates to a watch, a seconds hand having the same axis of rotation as a minute hand and comprising.
a mechanism for recalling this seconds hand to a determined position and letting it restart, in which this mechanism comprises a heart integral with this hand, a lever called a hammer, one arm of which is intended to cooperate with this heart, at least two toothed members kinematically connecting this hand to the main cog and one of which is mounted with greasy friction on one of the mo biles of this cog, means of kinetic connection between the aforesaid hammer and a winding stem which at the same time controls a time-setting mechanism a ti rette of which cooperates with it by being engaged in a circular groove of this rod;
throat which is also part of the aforesaid means for linking the sound of the hammer and this rod so that the hammer acts on the heart when this rod is pulled for setting the time.
The accompanying drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the object, of the invention and of a variant.
Figure 1 is a front view of a watch movement from the side opposite the dial. Fig. 2 is a view at. enlarged scale of a detail showing, by section made tangentially to, the winding stem shown in continuous lines and. Leaving aside the plate, the components placed behind it represented in broken lines and the components located in front and represented in phantom.
Fig. 3 is a view from the same side as in FIGS. 1 and 2 in which the members located behind the plate are however drawn in continuous line.
Fig. 4 shows the same members as in FIG. 3 in another position.
Fig. 5 is a view of the same kind as FIG. 3 showing the variant.
Plate 2 of the watch shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 est. mounted in a case 3 out of which protrudes a crown 4 integral with a winding stem 5. This watch is of the type in which a seconds hand, which is not shown, is integral with a heart 6 for its return to zero and has the same geometric axis of rotation 7 as the minute hand located in the center of the movement.
The core 6 is integral with a pinion 8 which meshes with a wheel 9 mounted with greasy friction on the axle shaft 10 of a wheel not shown on the pirneipal cog. A lever 17. movable around an axis 13 close to the rod 5 constitutes a heart hammer by its long arm, the end ramp 12 of which is intended to meet the heart. A short arm 15 of this lever carries an ankle 14 which extends through an opening 23 of the bridge carrying the lever, until it enters a circular groove 5a of the rod 5.
A brake 17 disposed at and near the wheel 9 forms part of an arm 16 riveted to the arm 15 of the lever 11 and is. located at the end (this arm, which is flexible in its middle part 18. The rivets of the arm 16 are. designated by 19 at fig. 2, where a pull tab 20 articulated to the frame at 21 is partially shown. , shown entirely in Fig. 3, is engaged by its pin 22 in the groove 5a of the rod 5, on the side opposite the pin 14.
The time-setting rocker-spring 24 cooperates with the ramps 20a and 20b of the pull tab 20 by ramps 25 and 26 formed by the two sides of a notch in its wide part between its end engaged in a groove of the sliding pinion 27 and its flexible thin part. The reassembly position shown in fig. 3 is determined by these ramps, so that the end. of the square 5b is at a distance of one to three tenths of a millimeter from the part of the plate 2 in which the pivot is guided. 5c of rod 5.
Fig. 4 shows in the time setting position the same components as in FIG. 3. Note that this position obtained by traction. of the. rod 5 is not determined by a stop of the pull tab against a side of the rocker. Neither is it by abutment against part of the frame. The pulling movement of the rod is limited by the fact that the ramp 12 of the hammer 11 is. applied against the core 6 which it has made turn until it is tangent to the two mam lons of the core.
It is therefore a watch of its kind already. known in which the pull of the rod for the. setting the time has the effect of reminding a seconds hand to zero. But here we can abandon the rod to itself after this traction, thanks to the fact that the. rod is only subjected to forces pushing it out.
One of these forces is in fact due to the spring 35 acting on the hammer 11 in the same direction as in ordinary chronographs where it tends to bring the hammer closer to the core. The other of these forces is due to the spring of the lever 24 by the fact that the latter acts, on the ramp 20a of the pull tab, which ramp is directed so that its normal is following the arrow f which passes to right of the axis 21, so that the force exerted by the rocker 24 has a non-zero lever arm and a moment whose direction is. such that the rod 5 is pushed upwards.
In a variant where the spring 35 would be removed, the spring-bascrile 24 would be made, strong enough. so that its aforementioned effect exerted on the zipper can be the only one. and be sufficient to apply the hammer strongly enough against the core.
Returning the seconds hand to zero by pulling the rod 5 is useful in particular for setting the time of the watch during a time signal given at the precise start of a known minute. But this return to zero can also be used for timing which is here facilitated by the brake 17, the operation of which is. the following We see that the crown 4 in the winding position is at a small distance 3a from the case 3, the order of magnitude of which is. the same as that of the distance from square 5b to. the turntable in fi--. 3.
It is therefore possible, from the position shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, push the rod towards the inside, which has the effect of applying the brake 77 against the wheel 9 and thus stopping the seconds hand, the friction of which will first be assumed on its adjusted shaft. so that this, stop. of wheel 9 does not stop the main cog. The pressing force of the brake is limited by the bending of the flexible part 18.
We can therefore measure the reality of a phenomenon as follows. Before the start of the latter, the rod 5 is pulled to the position of FIG. 4 to return the seconds hand to zero. The main cog remains running. At the moment when the phenomenon begins, we push crown 4 again, but not fully.
<the way that it is the flank 26 of the rocker bed 24 which returns the zipper to its position of FIG. 3 by acting on the ramp 20b. The brake not being actuated, the seconds hand can start again.
The fact that the cog is not stopped when the seconds hand is stopped by the brake limits to one minute a. duration of measurable phenomena. So, until the end of the phenomenon, we press on the crown, we can., While we maintain this pressure, read on the dial the number of seconds that the phenomenon lasted.
If the friction of the wheel 9 is adjusted so that it stops the cog, the watch can be used as a chronograph counter. provided that you bring your hour and minute hands to midday before the start. of the phenomenon. All the aib gilles then leave at the same time when we put things back in the position of fig. 3 and all stop when the brake is operated. When we have read their positions, we release the crown and the springs 35 and 24 return the things, as they are in fi-. 3.
We notice in fig. 2 that the diameter of the pin 22 is smaller than the width of the groove 5a. This is necessary if one does not want, when the brake is actuated, the pull-tab 20 having to push back the lever 24 by the 20cr ramp, sliding somewhat along the 2: 5 ramp of this rocker. The rod pushing back there. ankle 14, which could. be as wide as the groove, then moves it alone until the upper flank of the groove meets peg 22, after brake arm 18 has flexed.
This is all the more necessary as the spring 35 tends to push the rod upwards without, however, being able to place things in the time-setting position, that is to say without being able to force the pull-tab. push back the ramp 26. Thus, when the rod begins to push the pin 22, it has already pushed the pinions it carries down, so that the groove of the pinion 27 has driven the end of the rocker 24 the ramp 25 of which is thus remote from the ramp 20a and one does not have to. overcome the friction (these two ramps, but only the elasticity reaction of the lever 24 and the res out 35.
Fig. 5 shows a variant in the dttelle the ramp 25 of the rocker 24 is. sup award-winning. It follows that when the ramp 29 of this rocker acts against the ramp 20b of the pull tab, it tends to make the latter turn in the direction which produces a push of the rod towards the interior. The reassembly position, in which the pivot 5c must not be fully engaged in the plate, is then a position of equilibrium resulting from the spring 35 acting on the rod 5 in the opposite direction.
The time-setting mechanism could differ from those described, provided that it does not keep the stem fully running in the ordinary winding position. It could in particular include a special spring for the unclipping function which is here performed by the flexible part of the lever 24: An advantage arising from the presence of the spring 35 is that, because we must act against this spring to push the rod towards the interior and make the needle start again in seconds, the movement of the rod is less abrupt than, for a given force, than if this spring does not exist or acts in the opposite direction.
It follows that the pinion 8, released less abruptly, does not produce a dirt in front of the seconds hand which sometimes occurs in chronographs. The fact that the brake 17 can come very briefly to be brushed against by the wheel 9 at the instant of departure from the latter, acts in the same direction.
