Description
Process for the production of a sulfur dye. It has been found that valuable sulfur dyes are obtained if diaza compounds with a total of at least six rings, in particular 4,5,9,10-dibenzo-3,8-, diazapyren of the formula:
EMI0001.0006
or their substitution products are treated in a manner known per se with sulphurizing agents and the crude melt obtained is worked up in the usual manner.
With the new dyes on cotton, valuable brown dyeings are obtained which are distinguished by very good fastness properties.
The present patent now relates to a process for the preparation of a sulfur dye, characterized in that 4,5,9,10-dibenzo-3,8-diazapyrene is treated with a sulfurizing agent.
The sulfur dye obtained in this way is a black powder and colors the vegetable fiber from the sulfur sodium bath in dark brown tones.
Example: 20 parts of 4,5,9,10-dibenzo-3,8-diazapyrene are mixed with about 80 parts of sulfur and baked at about 260 ° C. for about 24 hours. The crude product obtained is digested in the customary manner with sulfur-sodium and lye; after dilution with water, the solution is filtered and the dye formed is separated off from the filtrate by acidification.
