Description

<B> Additional patent </B> to main patent no. 213909. Process for the production of a sulfur dye. According to the process described in the main patent, you get a cotton in very good, real tones coloring material, if you treat corones with sulphurous agents.

As has now also been found, a dye which dyes cotton in similar khaki tones is obtained if ennechloreorones, obtainable by chlorinating corones in o-dichlorobenzene as a product dissolved in this solvent, are treated with sulfurizing agents.

<I> Example: </I> 50 parts by weight of coronene are treated in <350 parts by volume of o-dichlorobenzal at <B> 35 '</B> with chlorine, which was produced from 200 parts of 74% chlorinated lime with hydrochloric acid.

When the introduction of chlorine is complete, the mixture is filtered off with suction, 59 parts by weight of a residue being obtained which consists almost exclusively of pentachlorocoronene, which is sparingly soluble in dichlorobenzene. About 23 parts of a more highly chlorinated product which is readily soluble in dichlorobenzene and which is an enenechloro-ion are obtained from the liquor by stripping off the solution with steam.

The enneachlorcoronene obtained in this way is heated to <B> 320 '</B> with five times the amount of sulfur in the course of 8 hours without further purification and baked for about 12 hours at <B> 320' </B>. Duroh digestion with sodium sulphide, the dye is brought into solution and deposited in the usual way. It dyes cotton in muted khaki tones.

PATENT CLAIM: A process for the production of a sulfur dye, characterized in that enneachlorocoronene, obtainable by chlorinating coronene in o-dichlorobenzene as a product dissolved in this solvent, is treated with sulfurizing agents. The dye, finished in the usual way, dyes cotton in muted khaki tones with very good lightfastness.
