Machine for closing bags and the like. The present invention relates to a machine for closing and sealing bags and the like, by means of two-piece seals and a tie fed by a spool, and which is cut after the bag sealing operation.
This machine comprises control devices for closing a vice which must clamp the neck of the bag by surrounding it with the tie, or ganes which control, in their return movement, the cutting: of the tie after the sealing operation, devices for bringing the elements constituting the seal opposite a punch and a counter-punch, and devices for actuating this punch and for successively controlling the opening of the vice and the advancement of the link, this machine also comprising organs for printing on the urn link any inscription.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically, by way of example, one embodiment of the machine forming the object of the present invention. Fig. 1 is a view of the machine in front of the worker's position.
Fig. 2, is a view from the right side of the machine, in which the iron walls have been removed in order to make the internal mechanism visible.
Fig. 3 is a left side view of the top of the machine.
Fig. 4 is a vertical section taken along line no of FIG. 5 of the link cutting device.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of the device for cutting the tie.
Figs. 6 and 7 represent details. The machine shown includes a vise for clamping the neck of the bag and for applying the tie around it. This vice comprises the two jaws 7 and 9, the first of which, 7, is pivoted at 30 on 4th: machine frame and held in its or green position by a spring 21, one end of which is fixed to the fixed part of the machine, tan say that the other is connected to a rigid extension of the jaw. Jaw 9, on the contrary, is. pivoted at 31 and subjected to the action of a spring 11, shown schematically in FIG. 1.
The lowering of the jaw 7, and consequently the closing of the vice, is controlled by the pedal 16, which lowers the tie rods 1.9 and 19 'connected to each other by the spring 20. The tie rod 19' carries upper ment a horizontal pivot 102 resting on the. upper surface of the jaw 7, in order to force it to turn around 30. The jaw 7 is then held in this position by the tooth 12 pivoted on the frame of the machine and which engages in the projection 13 carried by the jaw itself.
The machine also comprises a system for feeding, printing and cutting the tie, with which the neck of the bag is closed. This link is wound on a spool 3; when unwinding from the reel 3, this link passes between the two rollers 4 and 6, the first of which is the stamp roller, which bears the desired inscriptions in relief and which is continuously inked by the inking roller 5; the roller 6 is a simple pressure roller. The printed link 60 then passes between the advancement rollers 42 and 42 \, through the guide 2 and between the scissors 45 and 46, and it finally comes out on the work surface of the machine. The advancement of the link 60 is controlled by the lever 36, which also controls the application of the seal, as will be explained below.
In order to be able to control the advancement of the link, the lever 36 is articulated to the tie rod 39 which, below, is articulated to the angled lever 121 pivoted at 40 at a fixed point of the machine. The other arm of the lever 121 is articulated to the arm 41 carrying the pawl 61 which mesh with a ratchet wheel 62 (fig. 2 and 61, integral with the roller 42 ', which is one of the advancement rollers of the link. 60.
It is then understood that, each time the lever 36 turns to its. rest position (fig. 1), this the lever controls, through the mechanism described, the advancement of a prefixed line of the link 60, this line being sufficient for the end of the link to protrude from the plane working of the machine. We must then grab this end and pull on the link until 6th that we have made exit above said plane of the machine a line of link of sufficient length to wrap it around the neck of the bag.
The link is also cut in the exact point, after the application of the seal, by means of the scissors 45 and 46 which, with their control members, are shown in fig. 4 and 5. It can be seen that the chisel 45 is fixed, while the chisel 46 can rotate around the pivot. 47. The free end of this chisel 46 is connected by means of a. connecting rod 46 'to a crank 48' wedged on the shaft 48 which, at its other end, is integral with another crank 48 "connected to the rod 50 which, by moving horizontally, makes turn the shaft 48.
The connection between the rod 50 and the second crank is obtained by a seal; formed by a vertical pivot 64 integral with this crank, and by the two fingers 65 attached to the rod 50. In general, the chisel is held in the open position by a res out 49 (fig. 2) which acts on the rod 50 .
The lever 50 is connected by its other end to the rotating lever 51. around the pivot 51 'and the arm 52 of which cooperates with the tooth 53 carried by the tie rod 19', which moves the jaw 7. When this tie rod, lowered during the closing of the vice, rises upwards, the tooth 53 will suddenly turn the lever 51 and will therefore move the rod 50, which will control the closing of the chisel 45146.
The two ends of the tie surrounding the neck of the bag are firmly fixed to each other by means (the two metal elements, also called seals and counter-seals, which are in two different magazines, respectively 23 and 1.1.1., As it will be explained below.
The lever 36 is articulated to the pivot 120, carried by the fixed frame of the machine, and it can be operated by hand, by means of the crank 16 ', or by the pedal 1.19, acting on the rod 15. On the same pivot 120 is pivoted eccentrically the counterweight 37, which is made integral with the lever 36, when the latter is actuated in order to obtain the lowering of the punch described below, thanks to the connection formed by the hook 38. When it returns to its rest position, the counterweight 37 cooperates with a spring 22 when the punch is lifted.
The application of the seal to the link which closes the bag is done by means of a punch 17 and a counter-punch 10 in an already known manner. The punch 17 is integral with a rod 32 sliding vertically in a fixed sleeve 66 and articulated above the lever 14 which, by its other end, is articulated to the connecting rod 33, pivoted on the frame of the machine.
At an intermediate point 34 of the lever 14 is articulated a tie rod 35, by which the lever 14 is connected to the counterweight 37. The lever 14, and with it the punch 17 and the members connected to these are normally maintained in the position. raised by means of the spring 22. The metal seals which effect and guarantee the closing of the bag, consist of two annular parts which we will call respectively seals and counter-seals. The cachets are loaded pell-mell into the store 23 by the hopper 104, and are gui dice, in any known manner, towards the mouth of the guide 103, the lower end of which, open at the top and closed at the bottom by a , spring tooth 107, is arranged under the punch 17.
The conical point of the punch 17, when the latter is actuated, enters the hole in the seal and, by moving the spring-loaded stop tooth 107, carries it out of the guide and directs it towards the counter-punch 10 , on which the counter-stamp has already been said, as will be described below.
The counter-seals, on the contrary, are spun in a stack on a rod 109, articulated at 110, and enter from the side of its free end into a guide cylinder 111, which is provided with a vertical slot 112, in order to allow the introduction and the exit of the rod 109. This magazine 111 also has a horizontal slot 113 near its bottom 115 and of a height corresponding to the thickness of a counter-seal. In this slot 113 can enter and slide a blade 114 action born by the lever 27, pivoted on the pivot 116, this blade 114 having the purpose of pushing a counter-seal in the fixed guide 25 '.
The vier 27 can be controlled directly by hand or indirectly by the lever 26, which is the lever which controls the opening of the clamp 100 (fig. 2), into which is introduced, before each binding, the free end. the link 60. When this lever 26 is moved towards the machine to open the clamp which must hold the tape, the lever 27, which is pressed against the lever 26; .is also moved, in order to cause the actuation of the blade 114 and the descent of a counter-seal.
The movement of the lever 2,6 which is linked to a flexible control 117, for example of the Bowden type, causes, by means of this control, the movement of the movable guide 25 ", which is placed on the extension of the guide 25. '. At this moment, its free end is located above the counter punch 10 and the counter seal, which has slipped into the guide, rests on the counter punch. This guide 25 "is fixed to one of the arm of an angled lever 118, pivoted on the machine (fig. 7) and the other arm of which is connected to the control 117.
A spring 101 returns the guide 25 "to its rest position.
The operation of the machine is as follows: First of all, the lever 26 is operated to open the gripper 100 and to introduce therein the free end of the link 60, which exceeds the plane. machine, in order to arrange it as indicated by the dotted line in fig. 2.
But the lever 26, while moving, presses on the lever 217, which commands the exit of a counter-seal from the magazine sin 111 and its descent on the counter-punch 10.
The lever 26 is released and the neck of the bag is introduced into the opening between the jaws, so that it rests against the link 60; then the pedal 16 is pressed, which makes the jaw 7 lower, so that the neck of the bag is clamped in the vice, while at the same time the tip of this jaw detaches the link 60 from the clamp < B> 100. The tie now completely surrounds the neck of the bag, and the. jaw 7 remains blocked in the closed position by the action of tooth 12 on the projection 13.
The. link 6 () thus remains firmly wound and held around the neck of the bag, and if desired, we can now put on the link 60 a label with the address or with any desired inscription.
One then presses on the pedal 119, or else one acts on the crank 1.6 ′, to actuate the punch 17, the point of which, during its descent, is threaded into the seal. supported by guide 103, detaches it from the latter and carries it against the counter-seal already placed at 10, while the eccentric counterweight 37, which has. turned around the fixed pivot 120, transmits, towards the end of its movement, the energy it has. accumulated, on the punch 17, in order to give it the necessary stroke to tighten the ca chet on the counter-seal.
At the end of the downward stroke of the punch 17 and of the or ganes connected with it, the curved end? $ Of the tie rod 15 presses on the adjustable screw 29, integral with the tooth 12, and forces the latter to release from la, tooth 13, thus leaving the jaw 7 free to return to its open position. The tie rods 19 and 19 'also return to their raised position and control, by means of the nose 53, the cutting of the link 60 at the desired point, by operating the scissors 45 and 46 described above. The bag, closed and sealed, is then lifted from the machine.
When the stamp application is made, the pedal 119 is abandoned, and the whole system of levers. and tie rods controlling the punch 17 return to their initial position. During this return movement, the tie 39 is forced to lower; and, consequently, it controls the rotation of the lever 121 around its fixed pivot 40, and thereby the movement of all the members which control the advancement of the link 60, including. the end protrudes above the work surface of the machine. Take hold of this end and pull on the link until a free line of the appropriate length has been obtained.
The machine is then ready to close a new bag and repeat the cycle described above.
On the left side of the machine are provided two members 54, to which is attached a pedestal comprising a shelf 55 with an adjustable position which serves to support the bags. In order to facilitate the transport of the machine, de-Lux wheels can also be provided for the hind legs.
