Electrically controlled volumetric scale for granular materials. There are various types of apparatus which can be used to measure, which may be automatic, of any volume of granular material.
Known devices include a bucket integral with a compensating hopper, this assembly being supported by the ends of two flails at the free ends of which a counterweight is fixed. These devices are only suitable for volumetric measurement, but cannot determine the weight and density of the material.
Another device, forming the subject of Swiss Patent No. 191048 and constituting an improvement of the preceding one, is established in such a way that when the granular material has risen to a certain height in the hopper which surmounts the bucket, this hopper closes by means of a tilting hatch and, after a downward movement of the assembly, the skip separates from the hopper and is weighed separately with its contents by a weighing device to which it is connected,
after which the lower door of said bucket opens for the evacuation of the grainy material, then closes again to allow the operation to be repeated and so on.
These different operations are ensured by the play of a combination of levers and triggers which constitute a fairly great complication and require some monitoring.
The present invention relates to an apparatus deriving from that which has just been mentioned and having the same aim. It relates to an electrically controlled volumetric balance for granular materials, comprising a measuring bucket carried by a system of balance flails connected to.
an automatic weighing device, which bucket is filled by means of a regulating hopper and empties, after weighing, by a lower door, said balance being characterized in that the operation which separates the regulating hopper from the bucket, the release of the automatic weighing device and the opening, then the closing of the lower flap of the bucket are carried out electrically under the initial impulse of an electric motor.
One embodiment of this device is shown schematically and only by way of example by the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a vertical section through the whole of the apparatus.
The fi * 2 is a diagram of its electrical equipment.
The apparatus shown comprises a closed Wti 1 supporting a balance flail system? which carries a measuring bucket 3 and which is connected to the power rod 4a of a weighing device shown schematically at 4. In the standby position, this weighing device is blocked by an electromagnet 5 which, at a certain phase of operation and as will be explained later, is capable of releasing said weighing system.
This weighing system which, taken in itself, is not included in the invention, must however, in the application made of it, satisfy. certain conditions. For this purpose. it will be constituted by an apparatus as already known, in which, under the action of a res out barrel, a cursor moves on the flail by firing from an invariable point of origin, until , under the effect of the load, this flail is placed in equilibrium in the horizontal position, a position which determines the end of the weighing,
which is marked by a release which stops the cursor but can only occur in the position of balance of the beam and causes the indication of the elementary weight and the totalization of this weight with those previously recorded, a special motor 29 intervening, as will be explained later, to ensure the return of the cur sor to its starting point as well as the re-assembly of its spring for a new weighing. This weighing device is triggered at the desired time by the electromagnet 5.
The measuring bucket 3 whose bottom is established in the form of a hopper is closed at its lower part by a pivoting flap 7 which is connected by a rod 10a to the button of a crank 10 whose axis 10b is actuated, with a large speed reduction, by an electric motor 8, this axis 10b being, on the other hand, integral with a distributor drum 11 which will be discussed below.
Above this measuring bucket 3 is placed at a fixed position on the frame 1 a regulating hopper 12 (the capacity a little higher than that of the measuring bucket 3, which feeds the aforesaid measuring bucket and which is liable to be blocked. at its lower part by a pivoting flap 14, which is connected by a link 17a to the button of a crank 17 whose axis 17b is actuated with a high speed reduction by an electric motor 15, this axis 17b being, of on the other hand, integral with a distributor drum 18 which, with the distributor drum 11 mentioned above,
controls the successive functions of the device as will be specified later.
At its upper part, the hopper 12 is provided with a level control contact 13 which, protected by a membrane or in any other way, is arranged to close under the pressure of the grain when the latter reaches the level of said contact, this contact thus provokes the admission of electric current to the motor 15 and consequently the starting of the latter which drives, as it has been said, the crank 17 and the distributor drum 18 which is integral with it .
The distributor drums 1.1-18 respectively carry on their perimeter contact strips 19-20 on which are applied respectively fixed wipers 21-22 connected to the various elements of the apparatus by appropriate own connections to be ensured. the functiounement according to the operating cycle described below.
Fig. ? schematically shows an arrangement of these connections which can be applied dan. the intended purpose in combination with the three-phase current supply conductors R-S-T, this arrangement being shown with the indication of the components already mentioned and of the contacts and other details not yet specified which intervene in the operation.
In this diagram, the hatched parts represent, developed, the contact strips fixed to the periphery of the drums 11-18, the lines 23-24 of which indicate the axes of rotation.
The operation, which takes place as follows, will be well understood by following the connections indicated in the diagram in fig. 2.
In the standby position, the grain intake flap 14, disposed at the lower part of the regulating hopper 12, as well as the discharge flap 7 disposed at the lower part of the measuring bucket 3, are closed.
The grain to be measured, discharged into the regulating hopper 12, accumulates therein. When its volume has exceeded the capacity of the measuring bucket 3, its level rose to contact 13 and the grain exerting pressure on this contact, it causes its closing. The motor 15 then starts up and produces, by the means which have been indicated, the drive of the distributor 18 and of the pivoting flap 14. During a low-speed revolution of the crank 17, this flap opens and then stops. closes, leaving ample time for the measuring bucket 3 to fill.
The distributor 18 which, at the start, was in position 25 (which means that its generator 25 was placed under the friction line 22) passes through position 26 when the shutter 14 is fully open and causes the stopping the engine when it is in position 27, while the shutter 14 has completely re-closed.
Before reaching this stop position, the distributor 18 produces an emission of current in the electromagnet 5 which triggers the automatic weighing device mentioned above and which causes, when this weighing is finished, the starting of the motor 29, which returning the cursor to its starting point produces a break in equilibrium which results in the automatic closing of the contact 6 which causes the resumption of the operating cycle.
In fact, when this contact closes, the motor 8 starts up which, by the means which have been indicated, causes the drive of the distributor 11 and of the pivoting discharge flap 7 placed at the lower part of the measuring bucket. 3. This movement takes place at a sufficiently low speed to allow the grain held in the measuring bucket 3 all the time necessary for it to flow.
When the shutter 7 finishes closing again, the distributor 11 produces a short emission of current which causes the starting of the motor 15, which, by turning the crank 17 by a fraction of a turn, initiates the movement of opening of the shutter 14 without however allowing the passage of grain. Simultaneously, the distributor 18 goes from position 27 to position 25, in which the motor 15 is again dependent on the contact 13. The cycle is then completed and ready to be renewed indefinitely without ever the two components 7. -14 can be opened simultaneously, even if the feed is too fast.
To enable the hopper to be emptied and the partial contents to be weighed when, for any reason whatsoever, in particular at the end of a series of operations, the grain has not risen until contact 13, it another contact 31 is provided combined with contact 13 and which is actuated by means of a push button.
In the example represented by the diagram of 1a fig. 2, this contact 31 is supplemented by a positive timer relay 32, the purpose of which is to avoid any untimely control of the weighing of the remains, which would have the effect of distorting the volumes, the weighings and the specific weights, and in certain cases. case of allowing fraud, this relay delaying the start of the cycle by an adjustable time much greater than the longest filling times, so that it automatically cancels any order to weigh the remains which,
during this delay time would be followed by a shutter caused by the grain.
The closing flap 14 of the regulating hopper is provided on its acting edge with a. spout 1.1a projecting a little outward on the normal curvature of said shutter, so that in the return movement of the latter, this spout flattens the grain a little below the shutter, the measuring bucket is hole vant thus clearly separated from the feed device.
An elastic brake is applied to the shaft of each motor, so as to ensure the immediate stopping of the motor, canceling the effects of its inertia, as soon as the electric current stops arriving.
A safety contact 33 can be provided in the lower hopper (not shown in fig. 1 of the drawing) which receives the grain from the measuring bucket in the event that a blockage in the flow of grain received by this hopper occurs. occur which would delay or stop this flow, this contact opening under the pressure of the grain and thus causing the stop of the lower flap 7 in the open position until this clogging is sufficient. reabsorbed.
The regulating hopper with a capacity greater than that of the measuring bucket ensures the advantage of making all the fillings of this measuring bucket under identical conditions of equal settlement, which is essential for determining a weight. specific exact.
According to a variant, the apparatus could comprise only one distributor and a single electric motor, part of the functions of this apparatus being caused by mechanical means using the fall of the grain as driving force.
In the fie. 1, the device :; gear reductions are shown in the simple form of a worm gear controlling a helical wheel. Any other suitable mechanical means can be used.
