Waterproof watch box. The invention relates to a watertight watch case, more particularly a wristwatch case with horns, of square, rectangular or similar oblong shape, box comprising a cap, a bezel, an unbreakable crystal and a liner. 'seal inserted between the cap and a heel of the periphery of the glass, the bezel re = posing by an interior rim on said .ta Ion of the ice.
The box according to the invention is characterized by two clamping flanges adapted to two ends of the box and having an upper rim engaged on a transverse bearing surface of the bezel and a lower rim extending below a transverse bearing surface. dirty shell, rims. flange extending below the transverse surfaces of the dome, supporting pressure screws bearing on the underside of said surfaces of the dome and serving to as surer by clamping the assembly of the constituent elements of the box. ....
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, in this case a wristwatch case with horns.
_ Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof; fig. 2 is a plan view; fig. 8 shows a section along the line III-III of FIG. 2; fig. 4 shows a clamping flange seen from the side.
The box shown comprises a casket 5, a bezel 6, a crystal 7 made of unbreakable material, a gasket 8 and two clamps 9, each of which carries two pressure screws 10. These clamps ensure reciprocal assembly by clamping , the constituent elements of the box; they each form two horns 11 intended to support a bar (not shown) for fixing the attachment links to the watch case = bracelet.
The cap 5 is intended to receive the movement of. shows rectangular shape and has for this purpose, at its two ends, inside the edge, two casing rabbets 12 forming the seat of the movement.
The ends of the cap also have a shoulder 5 'forming an upper bearing surface and a lower bearing surface, the latter having an inclined plane.
On the upper surface of the shoulder 5 'is fitted the bezel 6 comprising an inner edge 6' which encroaches on a heel 7 'of the periphery of the lens 7.
Between the flat edge of the cap 5 and the heel 7 'of the. ice is inserted the seal 8 formed, for example, by a ring of rubber or other elastic and impermeable material.
The lateral sides of the bezel 6 form two 6 "flanges which are fitted onto the lateral flanks of the caseband, over the heel 7 'of the crystal and the trim 8. These flanges cover the assembly joints of the parts 7' and 8 and extend to the bi bucket provided at the base of the cap.
The two assembly flanges are. adapted to the ends of the. cap and are each hooked, by an upper rim 9 ', in a transverse notch 14 of the bezel 6, while the lower rims of the bri des, carrying clamping screws 10, each extend below a shoulders 5 'of the cap.
The cap 5 and one of the flanges 6 "of the bezel are pierced with openings forming the passage 15 of the winding stem, but it is of course understood that the means ensuring the tightness of this passage do not come within the frame of this invention because they relate to the winding mechanism.
The screws 10 bear against the lower bearing surface of the shoulder 5 ', which has the effect that all the constituent elements of the box, that is to say the cap 5, the bezel 6, the crystal 7, the gasket 8 and the flanges 11 are firmly assembled with each other by clamping, when the set screws 10 are fully tightened. The elastic gasket 8, being compressed by the clamping, ensures perfect sealing of the assembly gasket opening into the interior of the box.
Although the assembly flanges are only arranged at the ends of the. box, the clamping effect they exert on the net read produces a strong tension on the side cheeks thereof, so that the heel 7 'is tightened over the entire periphery of the ice.
The tension of the bezel is all the more effective as the cap, the bezel and the crystal are slightly arched in the longitudinal direction of the case, the flanges exerting not only pressure, but also a traction in the opposite direction on the ends of the bezel, by the fact that they act on the inclined plane of the notch 14 and that, on the other hand, the pressure screws 10 rest on the lower plane, suitably inclined, of the transverse shoulder 5 '.
