Lighter with swivel cover. In known hinged lid briquetas, the lid is generally subjected to the action of a spring @de, (command,
intended to maintain this cover in one or the other of the extreme positions of service or even in both. The spring, which can be lady or coil,
more often has a fixed position relative to the body of the lighter and its action is exerted on a heel integral with the verele neck.
The displacement of this heel in front of the fixed spring therefore generates friction and wear that is all the greater as the spring is shorter let less, isouple.
The present invention relates to a basket with a hinged cover. This lighter com wears.
with the aim of making it possible to reduce the friction mentioned above, a cover control rod comprising two parts sliding relative to one another and a spring working at the,
compression guided by at least one of these two parts and tending to move them away from each other, one of these parts resting on a part of the body of the bTquet, and the other on a part of the # uverele.
The lighter according to the invention could be a lighter with an automatic pivoting lid. It could also be arranged so as to allow .l'employment of a short and strong spring in order to reduce the bulk.
The appended drawing represents, schematically, by way of example, four embodiments of the object of the invention.
Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are sectional elevations of these four embodiments.
With reference to FIG. 1, the pivoting cover 10 of the lighter is articulated at 11 on the body 12 of the lighter and itself carries the cap 13 for closing the wick-holder tube 14, this cap being subjected to the action of 'a rmsol 23.
The cover 10 carries an arm 15 on the end of which is articulated, at 22, the head of a part 16 having a tubular guard in which flows da rod of a part 17 comprising a head having a
cutting edge resting on the wall of a housing 19 of the body 1> via a small part 20 resting on this wall. A coil spring 18 working in compression turns the tubular part and the rod and bears respectively on the heads of the parts 16 and 17.
This spring is thus guided by these parts and tends to separate them from one another.
In the drawing, there is shown in dotted lines the opening position 0 of the cover, with that corresponding to the connecting rod comprising the parts 16 e .t 17 and the spring 18. In this position, the arm 15 bears against a cross member 21 body 12.
As can be seen, to go from the closed position F indicated in solid lines; at that of opening, the connecting rod oscillates around a fixed point relative to the body 12 of the lighter on either side of a dead center located in the plane 8 passing through the articulation 11 of the cover 1o and <RTI
ID = "0002.0043">, the cutting end of part 17. It can be seen that the maximum compression of the spring takes place when the axis of the connecting rod is in the plane, S and the arc traversed by the articulation 22 of the arm 15, from the plane S to the position F,
is notably larger than that traversed by this joint. from plane 8 to position 0.
On the other hand, we see that in position F, the spring 18 exerts the greatest rotational force on the arm 15, therefore on the cover, which makes it possible to obtain an absolutely tight closure of the cap 13 on the cover. the wick-holder tube 14. The connecting rod of this embodiment could also be arranged differently.
For example, the tubular part of the part 16 could surround the spring 18 and the rod of the part 17 penetrate therein.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the control rod of the cover 10 comprises a part 24 having a rod penetrating into the spring 18 and articulated at 22 to the lever 15 of the cover and a small tube 25 surrounding the spring and whose end 26 is rounded and rests in the angle formed between the wall of the body 12 and
the fuel container.
The operation is the same as in the previous case, but due to the arrangement of the connecting rod, the action of the spring is less advantageous in the position F than in the first form of execution.
In the embodiment shown in fi-. 3, the cover 10 carries an arm 27 on the end of which is articulated at 22 the rod .., 8 of the connecting rod which comprises, on the other hand, a tube? 9 sliding relative to la: rod 28 which enters the spring 18, while the tube 29 surrounds the latter.
The spring 18 is thus guided by these two parts and tends to separate them from one another.
The tube 29 comprises, at its bearing end, a cutting edge 30 resting in a corresponding housing 31 of the wick-holder tube 14.
This embodiment works like the first with a maximum effect of the res sort 18 in the closed position F.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the connecting rod ensures automatic opening of the cover and, where appropriate, simultaneous driving of the wheel.
The connecting rod is made as in the first embodiment. It comprises two parts 16 and 17 sliding one inside the other and on which the coil spring 18. The part 17 is supported by its cutting edge on a part 3 2 integral with the body 12 of the lighter.
The part 16 is articulated on an arm 33 of the cover 10 and the arrangement is such that the spring lb of the connecting rod is compressed to approximately its maximum value when the cover is closed (position F). To give the spring a siuffi ent length and ensure the. connecting rod an advantageous position, the upper wall 34 of the lighter tank is slightly inclined on its rear part.
When the cover 10 is released by acting on the button 35, the spring 18 expands to position 0 where the cover stops by abutting against the body 12. It can be seen that in this embodiment the oscillation of the connecting rod is always on the same side of the plane ss.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2, the end of the tube 25, instead of being rounded, could also be provided with an edge.
In the first embodiment, for example, the connecting rod could also comprise two tubular parts sliding one: in the other and containing the spring, these parts being able to have support ends ar rounded or forming an edge.
It is obvious that to obtain a better working angle and: this in the: two positions: extremes (0 and F) of the spring, it is possible to provide for a sliding of the point of support considered to be frozen in the case of fig. 1.
It suffices for this that the face on which the part 20 must slide -be disposed approximately perpendicular to the plane S-S: and that -the length of the line connecting the pivot 22 to one:
extreme positions of the part 20 always passes through a minimum when the pivot passes from position F to position 0 and vice versa.
