Shock absorber. The present invention relates to a shock absorber for a weighing apparatus, in particular for a so-called suspended balance which can sometimes be located at more than the height of a man above the floor, its aim is to provide a construction which makes it possible to adjust the braking force of the shock absorber from the floor.
According to the present invention, the shock absorber consists of an assembly of two cylinders, one of which is arranged inside the other with an interval through which a brake fluid can flow in the event of displacement. of a movable piston in the inner cylinder, the inner cylinder being fixed and the outer cylinder being movable so as to be adjustable relative to the inner cylinder, so that the size of the passage opening for the fluid of brake formed at the lower end of the inner cylinder and therefore the braking force of the shock absorber can be varied.
Preferably, the outer cylinder is for this purpose screwed onto the inner cylinder, so that by rotating its lower end in either direction, it can be moved up or down. low.
The adjustable passage for the brake fluid is preferably obtained by the fact that there is on the bottom of the outer cylinder a projection in the form of a truncated cone, the peripheral surface of which cooperates with the lower edge of the inner cylinder open from the bottom; depending on the position of the outer cylinder relative to the inner cylinder, the annular slot between this peripheral wall and the lower edge in question is more or less wide and the braking fluid encounters in this slot consequently a greater or lesser resistance.
The accompanying drawing shows in vertical section, by way of example, one embodiment of the shock absorber according to the invention. The shock absorber shown consists of an inner cylinder 1, open at the lower end and the axis of which is placed vertically and in which a piston 2 can slide. The upper base 4 of this cylinder has a small orifice 5 through it. which air can escape when the cylinder is. filled with brake fluid, for example. of oil.
The cover 4 has an upwardly directed eeii- le 6 sleeve, the upper edge of which is established in the form of a funnel and through which liquid can be poured into the inner cylinder. The eyebolt 3 passes through the hole 6a of the sleeve 6 to the outside and with sufficient play not to interfere with the filling of the inner cylinder.
By means of the socket 6, the cylinder 1 is suspended from an arm of a plate 7 which is fixed to a part 8.
The cover 4 is provided with an external thread onto which the upper end, provided with an internal thread 9, of the external cylinder 10 is screwed: between the two walls of the cylinders there is an annular space of sufficient width for that the liquid can flow without noticeable resistance. To the. lower part, the cylinder 10 is closed by a bottom II fixed thereon and which has, on the inside side, a frustoconical projection 12 which cooperates in the manner of a valve with the lower edge of the internal cylinder 1.
The cover 11 fits @ with its edge 13 around the outer cylinder 1ù, so that it can be grasped with the hand to rotate the outer cylinder in one or the other meaning. The peripheral wall of the internal cylinder is provided, at a relatively small distance from the cover 4, with a few perforation15; about two-thirds of his. long above the lower edge, it also has some perforations l 5a.
By these perforations. the liquid which is in the shock absorber df, shocks can flow, in the event of movement upward (read piston 2, out of the space located above the piston and by the annular slot between the two sides of the cylinders towards the annular opening between the projection 12 and the raw lower edge of the cylinder 1, to then wait for the space of the cylinder located below the piston 2:
In the case of a chi piston downward movement, the liquid flows in the opposite direction. The resistance shits the liquid encounters as well is determined primarily by the. size of the. slot between the projection 12 and the lower edge of the cylinder 1. This quantity can be easily adjusted by screwing upwards. or down the outer cylinder relative to the inner cylinder by grasping the key cover 13 of the outer cylinder.
Even when the shock absorber is disposed on a suspended weighing apparatus which is at a height greater than the height of a man above the floor, this simple manipulation can be carried out very easily.
The normal level of oil in the shock absorber is indicated in L.
