Axle pivots rolling machine. The subject of the invention is a machine for rolling the axle pivots, mainly the pivots of a pinion axle or other moving part of a clockwork movement.
This machine offers the possibility of driving at the same time. the .two pivots - an axis. She owns to. this effect a notched support, preferably comprising two adjustable bucket piles called targets, in which the notches are provided for supporting the.
workpiece, so that the pivots of the latter are arranged horizontally and engaged by a part of their cylindrical surface, each in one of the notches of the support, the machine further comprising a rotating drive disc and two grinding wheels, the: disc having the function of communicating, to the workpiece, by friction, a rotational movement around its axis, the grinding wheels being -designed to roll (grind and polish) simultaneously the two pivots of the part to work.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view thereof; fig. 2 shows in side elevation, and on a larger scale, a workpiece mounted on its support; fig. 3 is a sectional view of the support on which is mounted the workpiece shown in front elevation.
The machine shown comprises a frame 4, on which are mounted a support 5 for the workpiece, two grinding wheels 6 and a drive disc 7 surrounded by a lining 8 of leather or rubber. The shaft of the disc 7 carries a grooved pulley 9 making it possible to communicate a rapid rotational movement to the disc, by means of a transmission cord.
The grinding wheels 6, for example of "Widia" steel, receive a rotational movement, each by a grooved pulley 10 mounted on the shaft of the grinding wheel and controlled by a transmission cord.
The shafts of the driving disc and of the grinding wheels are mounted on the frame by means of suitable adjustment means.
It is important that this adjustment be achievable in width, length and height, so that we can assign to the grinding wheels and to the dragging disc a precise -determined position.
The grinding wheels 6 are preferably tiltable, the shaft of each grinding wheel being removably fitted in a pivoting bearing at 11 and having a cover allowing. quickly replace grinding wheel 6 with its shaft and pulley 10 with a substitute grinding wheel.
The .support 5, adjustable in height, carries two cleats 12 called targets and present on their periphery several: notches 13. These cleats each have a rod fixed in the support 5 by means of a screw. wedging 14, which allows to adjust the spacing ment of the cleats relative to each other.
The workpiece, in. the case, in particular a pinion 15, is arranged horizontally on the two cleats 12, so that the pins of the pinion are engaged by part of their cylindrical surface, each in a notch 1: 3 -des! cleats, as shown above all by fig. 2 and 3.
To roll the pins -du pinion 15, that is to say to rectify the diameter and. To polish them, the pinion is set in rotation by means of the disc 8 which enters it by friction, while the grinding wheels 6 simultaneously roll the two pivots. If the ends of the pivots are cut into a cone, they can also be ground and polished using grinding wheels-6 which are shaped to suit this job.
The support 5 is mounted on a slide and can be controlled in height by means of a nut <B> A </B> actuating a return screw 1.7. However., The support 5 could be constructed otherwise than shown in the drawing and be controlled, for example, by means of a lever.
The same is true of the drive disc 8, the construction of which could be designed in such a way that the disc can be brought closer to and removed from the workpiece, which can be formed not: only by a pinion shaft, but by any pivot axis, isolated or provided with a toothed or non-toothed mobile, because the reciprocal spacing of the bucket piles (targets) 12 can be adjusted according to the span of the axis of the workpiece .
The cleats are also removable. and have several notches corresponding to pivots of different diameters.
