Illuminated police plate for automobiles. The present invention relates to a luminous police plate for automobiles, comprising a box with a reflective bottom and a wall forming a front plate. This luminous plate is characterized in that the cross section of the bottom of the box, for inant reflector for the light source, has the shape of an approximately sinuoidal line, the lamps being placed in correspondence of the tops of the sinusoid seen from the outside of the box. The aim of the invention is to obtain a perfectly uniform distribution of light on the trans lucid plate. The plate can be provided with a stop signal (stop) illuminated by a special bulb.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevation of a font plate according to the invention; Fig. 2 is a side view; Fig. 3, 4, 5 are sections along the lines III-III, IV-IV, V-V of FIG. 1; Fig. 6 is an elevation of a second example; Fig. 7 is a side view corresponding to FIG. 6; Fig. 8, 9, 10 are sections. along lines VIII-VIII, IX IX, X-X of FIG. 6.
1 designates a rectangular box open at the front, and of increasing thickness - from bottom to top. The bottom of this box has a central bos sage 10 and two raised parts, the, 1 "side, so that the dirty cross section of this bottom has roughly the shape of a line The height of this sinusoid is not constant over the entire bottom of the box 1, on the contrary, it varies almost in proportion to the thickness of the box.
In fact, we see that section III III (fig. 3) 'made very close to the maximum thickness of the box presents the maximum height of the sinusoid, while section IV-IV (fig. 4) made very close to the minimum thickness of the box presents an almost flat sinusoidal sinus.
The thick edge of the box has a long and wide opening closed by a half-round reflector cover 2, to which electric lamps 3 are attached, the wires of which run through the channel 2 'of the cover 2, and exit through the tubes. 2 ". This reflector is provided with a 2nd tongue, forming a screen against the direct rays of the lamps.
The edge of said tongue 2e is cut along a dule line which follows the sinusoid 1, 1e, l ', while remaining somewhat flatter. The lighting can be done by one or more lamps provided that they are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis VI-VI (fig. 1 and 3) and always in correspondence of the tops of the sinusoid seen from the outside the box.
Practice has shown that this combination of reflectors and screen gives perfect regularity and practically complete uniformity of illumination. The front plate is formed of a sheet 4, of clear translucent material, on which are fixed the distinctive marks 5 of opaque material. This sheet 4 is fixed using a slightly curved metal frame 6 (fig. 2 and 5).
When the plate must have transparent signs on an opaque background, the sheet 4 may be made of clear varnished sheet, on the inside and dark on the outside, and provided with openwork signs and lined with transparent material.
In the example shown in fig. 6 to 10, the main chamber of the plate is retracted at the top, by .suite -of two diaphragms or deflectors. 7 which divide the box into three bedrooms, a main bedroom lb and two secondary bedrooms. le, Id. These two chambers le, 1d are -lit by ', 3 "lamps. A 2nd deflector forms a screen to the direct rays of the lamps and its edge follows the undulation of the funds while keeping a short distance from them. here, as in the first example.
The lamps 3, 3 ', d "are placed in a cover 14, half-round, provided at the top with a box; 8 half-cylindrical open at the front where a plate is placed which carries a stop signal ( stop) .The front plate comprises a double sheet 12, perforated by the signs; these are formed: by stamped pieces in transparent material (cellu loïds, cellon, bakelite, glass, etc.).
The two chambers 1c, 1d are provided at the bottom with diaphragms 11 which limit them. This second type of plate can also be of the type with a luminous surface with opaque signs; it suffices, in this case, to replace the two sheets 12 with a transparent sheet, on which the opaque or colored signs are fixed. The police plate described above can also serve as an international circulation plate and a signage plate in general.
