Description
Process for the production of an oil dye. As has been found, decacyeles can be used to produce a vat dye that dyes cotton from the hydrosulfite vat in shades of orange with very good fastness if this hydrocarbon is subjected to a sulfurizing and chlorinating treatment in the presence of chlorosulfonic acid.
Example 1: 45 parts of decacycles and then 85 parts of chlorofluoride are introduced into 350 parts of chlorosulfonic acid with stirring and cooling to about 15 to 20. In the course of about 3 hours, the temperature is increased to 50 and held for 4 to 5 hours.
After cooling to room temperature, the mass is poured onto ice, the reaction product is filtered off with suction and washed out with water. By boiling for two hours with three times the amount of sodium sulfide crystallized under reflux and stirring with water, a part is dissolved from which cotton is dyed in copper-brown shades of good fastness.
The fraction of the reaction product which is insoluble in sodium sulphide can easily be vat with hydrosulphite and then dyes cotton in full orange tones with good fastness. The yield of vat dyes is about 60 parts. Example <I> 2 </I> 50 parts of decacyeles and then 45 parts of sulfur are introduced into 400 parts of chlorosulfonic acid with cooling to about 20 and stirring.
The temperature is increased in the course of about 3 hours to <B> 50 '</B> and this temperature is maintained for about 3 hours, about 40 parts of chlorine being slowly introduced with stirring.
After cooling, the reaction product is poured onto ice, filtered off with suction and washed. It cannot be brought into solution with sodium sulphide. In contrast, it dissolves in the hydrosulphite vat and stains this cotton in a real orange shade. The yield of vat dyes is 110 parts.
