Description

Process for the production of a new nitrogenous basic product. It has been found that valuable products are obtained if aliphatic polyamines are allowed to act on those bodies which, according to their constitution, are capable of acting on the polyamine simultaneously, once or several times, in an alkylating and acylating manner. Accordingly, in order to be alkylating, the bodies must contain, for example, the following groups: R-halogen, R-SO3H, R-SOZAryl, alkylene (where R is alkyl).

In order to have an acylating effect, the bodies must also contain groups such as COOH, COOR, CO-halogen, S02-halogen.

Suitable bodies of this type are, for example: chloroacetyl chloride, monochloroacetic ester, chloroethane sulphonyl chloride, chloromethylbenzene sulphochloride, acrylic acid and its derivatives, maleic anhydride or esters, dihalo-adipic acid, and corresponding derivatives of homologous acids.

The products produced according to the present process are basic in nature, since only some of the substituting groups cancel the basicity with amide formation, while those groups which have an alkylating effect maintain the basic character of the polyamine.

The present patent now relates to a process for the production of a new nitrogen-containing basic product, characterized in that a polyethylene diamine mixture which boils from 90 to over 350 ° C. at 15 mm is mixed with chloroacetyl - chloride heated.

The new product obtained in this way is a viscous, brownish oil which, like the hydrochloride, is easily soluble in water. The new product forms insoluble lacquers with water-insoluble dyes, so that it can be used as an aftertreatment agent to improve the waterfastness of dyes that are produced with substantive dyes on cellulose-containing material. It should also serve as an intermediate product for the production of other FäTbereihilfsprodukte.

Example: To a solution of 146 parts of a polyethylene diamine mixture which boils from 90 to over 350 ° C at 15 mm, in about 500 parts of water, 110 parts of chloroacetyl chloride are allowed to flow with strong cooling, 53 parts are added Add soda and cook for about 3 hours. By adding sodium hydroxide solution, the condensation product can be separated out as a thick, liquid, brownish oil.
