Lits jumeau.
Twin beds. Due to their large width, the twin beds impose additional fatigue on housewives: in particular, the accessibility of the bedding in the middle part of the assembled beds is difficult and cleaning under the beds difficult.
It is possible to remedy these drawbacks by providing the feet of the beds with rolling rollers allowing the beds to be moved by rolling them on the floor, but this system, although sufficient as regards the goal to be achieved, has the disadvantage of making it difficult the correct approximation of the beds in their original position.
By subjecting the displacement of the beds to a forced trajectory, this drawback will be eliminated and for this purpose it is possible, for example, to make each of the beds pivot around a fixed point specific to each bed.
The present invention relates to twin beds in which each of the beds is orientable about a vertical pivot resting on a fixed stop secured to the floor; this pivot, around which the corresponding bed can be oriented, will preferably be constituted by the outer foot of the headboard, the other support points being constituted by rolling rollers intended to facilitate the pivoting. The headboards can also be connected by a device suitable for ensuring the simultaneous and symmetrical pivoting of the two beds; this device could, for example, consist of an extendable hinge, each of the branches of which is integral with one of the headboards.
The appended drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a bottom view of twin beds in the assembled position; Fig. 2 is an elevational view corresponding to FIG. 1; Fig. 3 gives the detail of the pivot; Fig. 4 is a bottom view showing the position of the beds after their pivoting. Each bed rests on the floor on the one hand by means of a vertical pivot 1, located at the head of the bed and resting on a stop 2 integral with the floor, on the other hand by means of rollers 3 , the latter being in sufficient number to guarantee the stability of the bed.
The vertical pivot, consisting of a metal point, will preferably be placed inside the outside foot 4 of the head of the bed and the rollers will be fixed inside the other three feet. The axes of these rollers will be oriented so that they converge towards the pivoting center of the bed to which they are attached, in order to minimize the resistance to pivoting. As for the stop 2 of the pivot, it will be constituted by a metal cup made integral with the floor either by means of known assembly elements or by coating its lower surface with a material having a coefficient of friction sufficient to guarantee, when pivoting, its adhesion to the floor.
The headboards are connected by means of an extendable hinge formed by a. guide piece 5 fixed to one of the headboards and by a pin 6, integral with the other headboard, fitting into the groove 7 of the guide piece 5.
To operate the separation, in a fan, of the two beds simultaneously, it will suffice to impart a rotational movement either to one or to two feet of the beds; once the pivoting is complete, it will be possible to access the bedding from the middle part of the beds.
The twin beds described have the great advantage of being able to be moved apart without having to move the bedside tables and this without it being necessary to make the latter integral with the headboards; the operation of the beds described therefore does not require more space than that required by beds not provided with the device; furthermore, the passage between the separated beds is free of any obstacle and the shape of the feet is not influenced by the addition of the device.
