Description

Arrangement to facilitate the start-up of the biotor of water-cooled combustion engines in cold weather. The invention relates to an arrangement for facilitating the start-up of the engine of water-cooled internal combustion engines in cold weather, which consists in that an electrical heating device is arranged on the pipe leading the cooling water from the radiator to the engine housing.

It is well known that it is uncomfortable if the engine does not want to start in winter. The oil has become too thick and it is often not possible to crank the engine without sufficient heating.

The well-known means of getting the engine going, for example emptying the cooling water and topping up with hot one. Water, placing electric ovens under the engine, and the like, are cumbersome and cause annoyance until the engine starts up again.

The purpose of the present invention is to avoid this inconvenience. In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown.

Fig. 1 is a view of an engine with a heater attached; Fig. 2 shows a view of the latter; FIG. 3 is a section along the section line I-11 of FIG.

The cooling water system, which leads the water from the radiator 1 to the motor housing 2, has pipes 3 and 4 which, in many types, are connected to one another by a hose connection 5. A metal tube 6, on which an electrical heating device is attached, is connected into this hose connection 5. The metal tube 6 is preferably made of aluminum. The aluminum tube 6 has, for example, a length of 160 mm with an outer diameter of 38 mm and a wall thickness of 1.5 minutes.

The electrical heating device is attached to a clamp 7, 8 which encompasses the metal pipe 6 and which is clamped onto the metal pipe 6 by screws 9 and can be removed again. Insulating plates 10, 11 are arranged between the metal plates 7, 8 forming the clamp, between which the heating wires 12, which lead to the connection terminals 13, are located.

The radiator is built in such a way that it can be connected to any voltage from 110 to 250 volts. The power consumption is very low, at full voltage around 0.25 kilowatt hours for 20 to 30 minutes. The radiator can remain switched on during the night.

Since there is a light or power line in every garage, the device can be used anywhere. When the electrical current is switched on, the water in the pipe 6 is immediately heated, rises into the motor housing and quickly starts circulating. The oil becomes liquid again in a very short time and the engine starts up again without any further work.
