Verfahren zur Darstellung von 2-Ogydiphenyläther-3-karbonsäure. Im Hauptpatent ist die Herstellung von 4-Oxydiphenyläther-3-karbonsäure durch Be handeln eines Alkalisalzes des 4-Oxydiphenyl- äthers mit Kohlensäure unter erhöhtem Druck und bei erhöhten Temperaturen beschrieben.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass man durch Behandeln des Natriumsalzes des 2-Oydi- phenyläthers mit Kohlensäure unter erhöh tem Druck die 2-Oxydiphenyläther-3-karbon- säure erhält. Auch dieser neue Stoff findet entweder als solcher zum Beispiel in Form der Salze und Ester oder als Zwischenpro dukt für pharmazeutische oder technische Zwecke Verwendung.
Beispiel: 185 gr o-Oxydiphenyläther werden in einer wässerigen Lösung von 40 gr Natrium hydroxyd gelöst, die Lösung wird unter Il.üh- ren schliesslich im Vakuum zur Trockne ge bracht und das trockene Pulver bei 160<B>0</B> mit Kohlensäure von 20 Atm. 10-12 Stun den behandelt. Aus der filtrierten wässerigen Lösung erhält man durch Ansäuren die 2 Oxydiphenyläther-S-karbonsäure. Sie bildet aus Benzol oder verdünntem Alkohol um kristallisiert farblose Nadeln vom F. P. 142 , die in Wasser schwer löslich sind. Die wäs serige Lösung gibt mit Eisenchlorid Violett färbung.
Neben der 2-Oxydiphenyläther-3-karbon- säure bilden sich geringe Mengen der 2-Oxydi- phenyläther-5-karbonsäure.
Man kann die beiden Säuren trennen und die 2-Oxydiphenyläther-3-karbonsäure, deren Calciumsalz schwer löslich ist, in rei ner Form zewinnen.
Process for the preparation of 2-Ogydiphenyläther-3-carboxylic acid. The main patent describes the production of 4-oxydiphenyl ether-3-carboxylic acid by treating an alkali salt of 4-oxydiphenyl ether with carbonic acid under increased pressure and at increased temperatures.
It has now been found that treating the sodium salt of 2-oxydiphenyl ether with carbonic acid under increased pressure gives 2-oxydiphenyl ether-3-carbonic acid. This new substance is also used either as such, for example in the form of salts and esters, or as an intermediate product for pharmaceutical or technical purposes.
Example: 185 grams of o-oxydiphenyl ether are dissolved in an aqueous solution of 40 grams of sodium hydroxide, the solution is finally brought to dryness in a vacuum while stirring and the dry powder is added to it at 160 Carbonic acid of 20 atm. Treated for 10-12 hours. The 2 oxydiphenyl ether-S-carboxylic acid is obtained from the filtered aqueous solution by acidification. From benzene or dilute alcohol it forms colorless needles of F. P. 142 which are sparingly soluble in water. The aqueous solution turns violet with ferric chloride.
In addition to the 2-oxydiphenyl ether-3-carbonic acid, small amounts of the 2-oxydiphenyl ether-5-carboxylic acid are formed.
The two acids can be separated and the 2-oxydiphenyl ether-3-carboxylic acid, the calcium salt of which is sparingly soluble, can be obtained in pure form.
