Description

Trailer with metal beams. In trailers with metal side members, it is of the utmost importance to reduce the dead weight of the vehicle as much as possible. When calculating the profiles used just sufficient for the payload, they are not high enough to bring the bottom of the body to a normal loading height. This drawback is further accentuated when metal profiles of special strength are employed in the bottom of the body. The loading height being more or less standardized, we have come to increase without mechanical necessity the height of the profiles used, which necessarily leads to an undesirable increase in the dead weight of the trailer.

The object of the present invention is a trailer with metal side members, in which the problem of the lightness of the body has been solved by adapting metal cross members connected to said side members by metal brackets which raise the bottom of the body. while reducing the free lon gueur of said ties. These are calculated in such a way that they offer the exact safety necessary for normal load; on the other hand, it is the moment of resistance of the metal spars which is completely involved.

An exemplary embodiment of a trailer according to the present invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.

Fig. 1 is a section through the bucket; Figs. 2 and 3 show details of the trailer and Figs. 4 and 5 show the attachment of the telescopic stand to the trailer.

This trailer is shown only insofar as the understanding of the invention requires it.

On the side members a, which are connected to the axles by springs not shown, are placed brackets b, which fit into the profile of the side member and which open out on the sides and form consoles on which the cross member of the bucket is fixed. The latter is metallic, with an I-profile and its section is calculated so that the moment of resistance to the dangerous section xx is just sufficient for the payload. This moment can be considerably reduced because the free length y of the sleepers is considerably reduced.

Preferably, these console supports will be made of a light metal. In this way, a maximum payload will be obtained for a minimum of dead weight. .

The side members a meet towards the front of the trailer to grip the hook d. Before they meet, they are connected by the cross member e, in which is mounted a telescopic keel f which is shown more specifically in FIG. 3. It is formed by two tubes f 1 and f2, which are angular, which allows the tube f 2 to travel inside the tube fl by means of of the screw g without being obliged to make in said tube f 1 a keyway requiring unnecessary wall thickness elsewhere. This arrangement also makes it possible to reduce the dead weight of the trailer, without reducing its mechanical strength.
