Hinge. The hinges fitted to doors, windows, shutters, radio cabinets, etc., have two plates, one of which is fixed, the other movable. One of these plates has an axis of rotation, the other a hollow body in which the axis (the aforementioned rotation) engages. The axis of rotation is generally cylindrical and the internal diameter of the body hollow corresponds to that of the axis of rotation.
It follows that the friction between the hollow body and its axis of rotation is quite low; it is not generally sufficient to maintain in a given position the object to which the hinge is attached, that is, for example, the door, this especially when the axis of rotation of the hinge is not vertical, as is, for example, the case with the lid of a gramophone or radio set.
The object of the present invention is a hinge, at least part of which comprises a hollow body in which engages an axis connecting it to the other part, characterized in that means are provided making it possible to adjust the friction between the hollow body of the hinge and its rotatian axis, the -dessin represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the present invention, and three variants of this shape as well as-variants. Retail.
Fig. 1 shows the embodiment of the hinge, seen from the front and partially in axial section; Figs. 2, 3 and 4 show the three variants -of this embodiment -of the hinge; Figs. 5, 6 and 7 show variants of detail.
The hinge illustrated in fig. 1 has a plate 1, for example freezes, and a plate 3, for example mobile. Plate 1 is provided with a hollow body 38, plate 3 with a body. hollow 4. These two hollow bodies 3 $ and 4 are -of the same axis and each have a hollow cone, these cones being juxtaposed by their larger base, and oorrespou dant to the male cones 6, 7 presented by the axis -de rotation of. the. hinge. This one is provided with. each of its two ends, with an unthreaded te 20 corresponding to a nut 18.
Between this nut and a shoulder 11 of the hollow body 4 are housed in this body, a washer 14, a spring 19 and a washer 16. The hollow body 4 is closed by a cap 33. It. The same is true for the hollow body 38. It is easy to realize that by modifying the position of the nut 18, the friction between the hollow body and the axis of rotation is adjusted.
It is also possible to provide for the lubrication of the surfaces in contact, for example by providing the cones 6 and 7 with grooves 22. and 23. The free space 21 left between the hollow bodies 4 and 38 allows their adjustment in the event of wear.
The nuts 1.8 can be locked -different ways, for example by means of a fin 25 (fig. 1 and 5), part of which engages, in a corresponding groove of the threaded pin 20 and -of which the The other part engages in a corresponding groove of the nut 18. As shown in FIG. 7, the nut 18. can, of course, be provided with several grooves 27, 28.
The nut 18 can also be locked by means of a washer 30 (fig. 6), one tooth of which engages in a longitudinal groove 39 of the axis of rotation, while tenons 29 engage in. the corresponding notches of the nut 18.
Finally, as in the variant of the hinge of FIG. 2, the nut 18 can be blocked by a ball 34 placed between this nut and a screw 32, of the cap 33. It is advantageous that the ball 34 only touches the nut 18 and the screw 32 at a single point, so that the nut 18 cannot in any case, if it happens to slip out, also loosen the screw 32.
While, for the form of execution according to FIG. 1, it was necessary to adjust the friction of the cone 6 and that of the cone 7 independently of one another, it is also possible, as shown by the variant of the hinge shown in FIG. 3, simultaneously adjust the friction of the two cones. A rod 37 (fig. 3) passes through the two male cones in their entire length.
It is provided at one end with a threaded tenon, a spring and a nut by means of which this end rests on the corresponding hollow body. At the other end, it is fixed .à a member resting on the other hollow body. By tightening the aforementioned nut, the friction between each of the two male cones and the corresponding female cone is simultaneously adjusted.
While the hinges of fig. 1, 2 and 3 have an axis of rotation which can be seen in relation to the plate 1 as well as in relation to the plate 3, it is the same for the hinge illustrated in FIG. 4. The axis of rotation is only mobile here relative to the hollow body 4 of the plate 3; it is fixed relative to the plate 1, thanks to. a square section pivot 35 fitting into a corresponding part 2 of the plate 1.
It is obvious that the adjustment of the friction between the hollow body and its axis -de rotation can be done by other means than those described above.
One could, for example, provide a hollow body whose internal diameter, or an axis of rotation whose external diameter is adjustable by known means, m.écanqües, pneumatic, hydraulic, ete.
