Fond de boîte de montre étanche L'objet de la :présente invention est un fond de boîte de montre étanche.
Les fonds usuels du type mentionné comprennent des encoches étampées à la périphérie de leur face inférieure ou des pans formés dans une face latérale, pour permettre leur entraînement en rotation au moyen d'une clé lors du vissage ou du dévissage.
Ces fonds à pans ou à encoches présentent plusieurs inconvénients. Tout d'abord comme les pans ou les encoches sont limités par des arêtes vives permettant un bon accrochage de la clé, ils risquent de blesser le porteur de la montre ou de s'accrocher à ses vêtements. En second lieu, leur aspect n'est pas particulièrement esthétique. Cependant, l'inconvé- nient majeur de ces fonds réside dans le fait qu'ils peuvent;
quoique difficilement, être dévissés au moyen d'outils différents de la clé qui correspond à leur forme. Le porteur de la montre est donc tenté de l'ouvrir au moyen d'une pince, d'une tige pointue ou de tout autre accessoire. Ce faisant, il raie immanquablement le fond.
Le but de la présente invention est de remédier à ces inconvénients en créant un fond du type mentionné, dont le contour ne présente aucune arête et qui ne puisse être vissé ou dévissé qu'au moyen d'une clé exactement adaptée à sa forme.
Pour cela, ce fond présente une portée cylindrique dont la directrice est une courbe autre qu'un, cercle et ne présente pas de points anguleux, ladite portée étant accessible de l'extérieur lorsque le fond est vissé à la boîte.
Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, trois formes d'exécution du fond selon l'invention. La fig. 1 est une vue en élévation de la première forme d'exécution, ledit fond étant engagé dans une clé permettant de le visser à la boîte correspondante ou de le dévisser de cette boîte.

La fig. 3, une vue en plan de dessous de la deuxième forme d'exécution, et la fig. 4, une vue en plan de dessous de la troisième forme d'exécution dudit fond.
Le fond 1 représenté à la fig. 1 présente une partie filetée 2 qui est destinée à être engagée dans un taraudage correspondant de la carrure d'une boîte dont ce fond 1 fait partie. Une portée cylindrique circulaire 3, de plus grand diamètre, est adjacente à cette partie filetée 2. Elle présente une face interne plane, annulaire, 4, qui forme un épaulement destiné à comprimer une garniture d'étanchéité contre un épaulement correspondant de ladite carrure. La face externe du fond 1 est formée par deux surfaces planes 5 et 7.
La première, 5, est annulaire et est limitée vers l'intérieur par une portée cylindrique 6 de contour ovale, coaxiale au fond 1, dont la hauteur est approximativement égale à celle de la portée 3. Quant à la seconde, 7, elle est plane et est limitée vers l'extérieur par la portée 6. La forme, en plan, de la portée 6, est très peu différente de celle d'un cercle, de sorte qu'elle ne dépare pas l'aspect de la boîte.
Pour mettre en place ou enlever le fond 1, on engage la portée 6 dans une clé qui se compose d'une partie annulaire 8 fermée, fixée à un manche 9. L'anneau 8 présente une face intérieure 10 cylindrique dont le contour est exactement ajusté à celui de la portée 6, avec un jeu suffisant pour permettre un engagement facile de la clé (8, 9) sur cette portée.
Comme le contour de la portée 6 n'est pas. circu- laire, il est clair que si l'on imprime à 1a clé (8, 9)

un mouvement de rotation autour de l'axe de sa partie 8, elle entraîne avec elle le fond 1.
La fig. 3 représente un fond 11, qui, au lieu de présenter une portée cylindrique ovale comme la portée 6, présente une portée 12 dont le contour est formé de trois lobes. couvrant chacun un arc de 1200, les arêtes de raccordement étant arrondies.
Enfin, la fig. 4 représente une autre forme d'exécution du fond faisant l'objet de la présente invention, qui présents une portée 13 dont le contour est formé de quatre lobes, d'une ouverture de 90 , raccordés l'un à l'autre par des arêtes arrondies. Comme on le voit au dessin, ces formes diffèrent si peu de celle d'un cercle que la différence n'est pratiquement pas perceptible à l'oeil nu, si l'on n'examine pas la boîte avec une grande attention. De plus, la face inférieure des fonds décrits peut être enjolivée à volonté par des. motifs quelconques.
Les dimensions relatives des deux parties 5 et 7 de la face inférieure du fond peuvent être choisies à volonté. On peut ainsi limiter à quelques modèles différents le nombre des clés nécessaires pour ouvrir ou fermer des boîtes de toutes dimensions. Dans les petites boîtes, la portée 6 correspondra presque à la périphérie du fond, tandis que dans des boîtes plus grandes, mais susceptibles d'être ouvertes par la même clé,
cette portée formera dans la face inférieure du fond une saillie dont =le contour pourra s'étendre approximativement au milieu entre la périphérie et le centre du fond. Cas échéant, un logement cylindrique pratiqué dans la face interne du fond pourra corres- pondre à cette saillie, ce logement étant destiné à recevoir une partie du mouvement monté dans ladite boîte.
Pour visser ou dévisser le fond décrit, il est indispensable d'utiliser une clé adaptée à la portée. Le porteur de la montre ne peut donc généralement pas effectuer ces opérations lui-même et comme le pourtour du fond n'offre aucune saillie, il n'est pas tenté de les entreprendre avec des moyens de fortune. Vu sa forme, la clé (8, 9) risque moins facilement de rayer le fond de la boîte lors d'une fausse manoeuvre que les clés usuelles pour fonds à encoches ou à pans.
On sait, d'autre part, qu'avec les fonds à encoches, il faut exercer une force axiale sur la clé pour que celle-ci reste engagée dans lesdites encoches. Cet inconvénient est également évité avec le fond décrit ci-dessus.
Enfin, ce fond présente le grand avantage de pouvoir être usiné entièrement sur un tour automatique, ce qui n'est le cas ni pour les fonds à encoches ni pour les fonds à pans.
Dans d'autres formes d'exécution du fond selon l'invention, la face inférieure, au lieu d'être plate, pourrait aussi être bombée et le fond avoir une forme générale différente de celle qui est représentée au dessin.

The usual bases of the type mentioned include notches stamped at the periphery of their lower face or sections formed in a lateral face, to allow them to be driven in rotation by means of a key during screwing or unscrewing.
These funds with sides or notches have several drawbacks. First of all, since the sides or the notches are limited by sharp edges allowing a good hooking of the key, they risk injuring the wearer of the watch or catching on his clothes. Second, their appearance is not particularly aesthetic. However, the major drawback of these funds is that they can;
although with difficulty, be unscrewed using tools other than the wrench that corresponds to their shape. The wearer of the watch is therefore tempted to open it by means of pliers, a pointed rod or any other accessory. In doing so, it inevitably strikes the background.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by creating a bottom of the type mentioned, the outline of which has no edge and which can only be screwed or unscrewed by means of a key exactly adapted to its shape.
For this, this bottom has a cylindrical surface whose directrix is a curve other than a circle and does not have angular points, said range being accessible from the outside when the bottom is screwed to the box.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, three embodiments of the base according to the invention. Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the first embodiment, said bottom being engaged in a key making it possible to screw it to the corresponding box or to unscrew it from this box.

The bottom 1 shown in FIG. 1 has a threaded part 2 which is intended to be engaged in a corresponding thread of the middle part of a case of which this bottom 1 is part. A circular cylindrical bearing surface 3, of larger diameter, is adjacent to this threaded part 2. It has a flat, annular internal face 4, which forms a shoulder intended to compress a seal against a corresponding shoulder of said middle part. The outer face of the bottom 1 is formed by two flat surfaces 5 and 7.
The first, 5, is annular and is limited inwardly by a cylindrical bearing surface 6 of oval outline, coaxial with the bottom 1, the height of which is approximately equal to that of the bearing 3. As for the second, 7, it is plane and is limited outwards by the scope 6. The shape, in plan, of the scope 6 is very little different from that of a circle, so that it does not detract from the appearance of the box.
To install or remove the bottom 1, the bearing 6 is engaged in a key which consists of a closed annular part 8, fixed to a handle 9. The ring 8 has an inner cylindrical face 10 whose contour is exactly adjusted to that of staff 6, with enough play to allow easy engagement of the key (8, 9) on this staff.
As the outline of the staff 6 is not. circular, it is clear that if we print with the key (8, 9)

a rotational movement around the axis of its part 8, it drives the bottom 1 with it.
Fig. 3 shows a base 11, which, instead of having an oval cylindrical seat like the seat 6, has a seat 12 whose contour is formed by three lobes. each covering an arc of 1200, the connecting edges being rounded.
Finally, fig. 4 shows another embodiment of the bottom forming the subject of the present invention, which has a bearing surface 13 whose contour is formed by four lobes, with an opening of 90, connected to each other by rounded edges. As can be seen in the drawing, these shapes differ so little from that of a circle that the difference is hardly noticeable with the naked eye, if one does not examine the box with great attention. In addition, the underside of the funds described can be embellished at will by. any reasons.
The relative dimensions of the two parts 5 and 7 of the lower face of the base can be chosen at will. The number of keys necessary to open or close boxes of all sizes can thus be limited to a few different models. In small boxes the 6 staff will almost correspond to the periphery of the bottom, while in larger boxes, but likely to be opened by the same key,
this range will form in the lower face of the bottom a projection of which = the outline may extend approximately in the middle between the periphery and the center of the bottom. Where appropriate, a cylindrical housing formed in the internal face of the base may correspond to this projection, this housing being intended to receive part of the movement mounted in said box.
To screw or unscrew the base described, it is essential to use a key suitable for the scope. The wearer of the watch can therefore generally not perform these operations himself and as the periphery of the back offers no protrusion, he is not tempted to undertake them with makeshift means. Given its shape, the key (8, 9) is less likely to scratch the bottom of the box during a false operation than the usual keys for notched or paned bottoms.
We know, on the other hand, that with notched bottoms, it is necessary to exert an axial force on the key so that the latter remains engaged in said notches. This drawback is also avoided with the background described above.
Finally, this bottom has the great advantage of being able to be machined entirely on an automatic lathe, which is not the case for notched bottoms or for paned bottoms.
In other embodiments of the bottom according to the invention, the lower face, instead of being flat, could also be convex and the bottom have a general shape different from that shown in the drawing.
