Description

Timepiece whose winding takes place automatically. The object of the present invention is a timepiece, the winding of which is carried out automatically by means of an oscillating weight which, for each direction of oscillation, engages with a toothed wheel transmits both to the motor mechanism alternately one or the other of two pawls pressed against the teeth of this wheel by spring.

This timepiece is characterized in that the two pawls are mounted on two pivots carried by the oscillating mass on either side of the pivot of this mass and on either side of the line which connects this pivot to the axis of the toothed wheel to be driven, so that when the oscillating mass moves in one direction, one of the pawl pivots approaches and the other moves away from said axis and vice versa when the oscillating mass moves in the 'other way.

The accompanying drawing schematically represents the subject of the invention.

1 designates the case containing the clockwork mechanism and 2 the mass which, by its oscillations around its pivot 3, must raise the mainspring. This mainspring is enclosed, in the usual way, in the barrel 4, the axis of which is precisely the pivot 3. The mass 2 and the barrel 4 are free on the axis 3.

On this axis is wedged a toothed wheel 6 in engagement with a pinion 7 mounted on the axis 16 and integral with a ratchet wheel 8.

Normally, the mass 2 tends to take the rest position shown in solid lines; it leaves this position only under the effect of a displacement or a shock received by the housing 1 and, in this case, it oscillates, like a pendulum, in the recess 5 made in the housing 1 and which limits the amplitude of the oscillations (to approximately 900 in the example). During these oscillations, mass 2 determines the rotation of ratchet 8 in the winding direction, regardless of the direction of oscillation of mass 2.

For this purpose this mass carries, on either side of the pivot 3 and on either side of the straight line connecting the axes 3 and 16, the pivots 11 and 12 of two pawls 9 and 10, parallel, and that a spring with two branches 14, 15, pressed cry 13, tends to apply against the teeth of the rock 8. Up to the dotted position of the mass 2, that is to say almost to the end of travel at left, the pawl 10 continues to push on the teeth of 8, while the pawl 9 slides on these teeth. In the return movement of the mass 2, the pawl 9, the pivot of which approaches the axis 16, drives the wheel 8, while the pawl 10 slides on the teeth of 8, its pivot moving away from the axis 16.

The transmission mechanism between the mass 2 and the wheel 6 wedged on the winding pivot 3 is therefore extremely simple and compact; it can be adapted to the smallest watches without causing any change in shape or thickness and without requiring the displacement of other parts. It will be understood that, for a watch of round shape for example, the mass 2 could be pivoted on an axis other than 3, for example at the center of the watch.
