Une pièce 9 est articulée sur les mâ choires pour recevoir la courroie qui passe par l'arrière du soulier. Cette pièce 9 peut être inutile ou absente lorsque le soulier présente un crochet à. l'avant et que le levier de fixa- tion proprement dit exerce sa traction sur le soulier par ce crochet, alors que, dans la forme représentée, c'est la courroie arrière qui porte le levier de fixation par lequel le sou lier se trouve poussé en avant.
La fig. à montre la mâchoire 7, 7' isolé ment avec son ouverture 13 qui pourrait venir jusqu'au bord. Cette figure montre que la partie 7' peut présenter des cannelures croi sées sur ses deux faces si elle est placée au- dessous de la. mâchoire 6', laquelle présente également dans ce cas des cannelures sur sa face inférieure, de même que la plaque 2 sur sa face supérieure.
La tête de la vis<B>1,0?</B> est assez grande pour qu'elle exerce un serrage en des points situés près-des bords des parties superposées des mâchoires dans le but que le frottement dû .à la force de serrage puisse opposer un fort couple à. des efforts tendant à faire tourner les mâchoires. Le montage se fait comme suit: Après avoir légèrement desserré la vis 10, on introduit le soulier entre les mâchoires li bérées -de manière qu'il pénètre entre elles de la quantité convenable. On introduit alors une clé dans les trous<B>Il</B> pour serrer la. vis 10. Le serrage se trouve avoir son effet renforcé par le fait des cannelures susmentionnées qui ré servent entre elles des aspérités, les aspérités d'une plaque pénétrant dans les creux formés par les, cannelures de l'autre.
Les ouvertures l2 et 13 sont assez longues pour que le dispositif puisse être aussi bien adapté aux plus petits souliers qu'aux plus grands.
Au lieu d'un canon à. filetage intérieur, la plaque 2 pourrait porter une simple vis, la tête de la vis 10 étant alors solidaire d'un écrou.
