Adjustable key for screw-back watch cases. The waterproof watch cases have for the most part a screwed back on the caseband or on a corresponding part. It is necessary that this background is strongly blocked.
The variety of boxes and the means employed for gripping and clamping funds has hitherto been the cause of much inconvenience. These latter are particularly felt in regions far from production centers and in which the watchmaker receives a different watch every day. Either these watches have notches made in the periphery of their back, or the back has sides on which a special key can be fitted allowing for energetic tightening. If the dresser does not have the corresponding key, he uses makeshift means which spoil the watch case.
The present invention seeks to remedy the drawbacks which are created by this great diversity of shapes and sizes of cases and relates to an adjustable, multi-use key for screw-back watch cases which comprises at least one set of two m & s. - Choires adjustable with respect to one another and whose claws are shaped to enter the bottom by its periphery by using the means_qui provided therein to grip the special key.
Preferably, at least one of these jaws will be in connection with an adjusting screw which makes it possible to precisely adjust its position relative to the other. The jaws will generally be removable and, depending on the shape of the bottom and the means giving grip to unscrew it, jaws of special shape will be used.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the key according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a top view of the first which is shown in FIG. 2 view from below, while FIG. 3 shows the key viewed from the side.
The fi-. 4 is a plan view of a box bottom having notches, while fi g. 5 is a plan view of a said having flaps. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the key shown in FIG. 1, 2 and 3, meshed with a watch case.
Fig. 7 is a view of the second embodiment, also in perspective, in engagement with a bottom of the box with sides.
The key shown in fig. 1, 2 and 3 com carries a handle 1, in which are practi c elongated notches 2 and 3, the edges of which serve as slides for the jaws which can be adjusted relative to each other inside these notches 2 and 3 and immobilized by means of nuts 4.
The jaws have claws 5 which are, at their free end, of a width such that they can be inserted into two diametrically opposed notches 6 of a bottom 7 shown separately at Fig. 4.
After having immobilized one of the jaws, we can bring the other to the exact distance at which it must be had so that the claws 5 penetrate fully into the notches 6, then it is also immobilized by means of its nut 4. This position is shown in fig. 3 and in fig. 6. The case is immobilized, which can always be done given the relatively large thickness of the caseband and the solidity of the latter, then, using the key whose claws are introduced into the notches 6, it is screwed. and unscrew the bottom.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 7, the claws of the jaws 9 which can be seen in plan in FIG. 5 have sides forming between them an angle which corresponds to that formed together by two adjacent panels 8 of the back of the watch case; similar claws are used in the case of a bottom with sides 10 (fig. 5) and the key is adjusted exactly like that of the previous model.
